LOL ok but you sure you can take the square root like that? thought you couldnt because of the + between the parenthesis but then again what do i know hahaha ok lets seeeee hmmmmm...

          ok heres a good one.

          A circle (equation of the circle: x^2 + y^2 = 25) intersects a line (equation of line: 3x+y=15) at 2 points.
          -find the points of intersection
-find the midpoint of the line between those two points of intersection.
-find the equation of the line passing through the origin and this midpoint.

and i've done this so i have the answers to this one lol

and i've done this so i have the answers to this one lol
ok get ready for long answer aha :D

x^2+y^2=25 and 3x+y=15 this becomes: y=15-3x and then sub this into the first equation to get: x^2+(15-3x)^2=25 and then expand etc to get 10x^2-90x+225=25 which then becomes: 10x^2-90x-200=0 and then divide by then to get: x^2-9x-20+0

bracket this to get: (x-5)(x-4) so your x values are: 5 and 4. sub this back into 2nd equation we wer given to get y equales to 0 and 3 so the 2 points are: (5,0) and 4,3)
                    thats thew first part dun

part 2: we use our rule of (x(1)+x(2))/2, (y(1)+y(2))/2 which is basicaly (5+4)/2, (0+3)/2 and you get: (9/2, 3/2) and we have gt ur midpoint

last bit : use this to get gradient: y(2)-y(1)/x(2)-x(1) which is: (3/2-0)/9/2-0) which basicaly becomes 1/3

nopw use your formula: y-y(1)=m(x-x(1)) which is: y-3/2=1/3(x-9/2) get rid of the 2 on y side so u get: 2y-3=2/3(x-9/2) and then times out to get: 2y-3=2/3x-3 and then it becomes: 2y=2/3x and you can leave it like this or make it simpler: and divide by the 2 to just leave y on its own and u get: y=1/3x

lol yeah that's all basically what i did except i took some short cuts like instead of subing for 1) i just set them equal to each other, and i already knew one of the points just by graphing so made it easier to know where to go. & in the last part we already know that the line is passing through the origin so we know b=0 for the equation y=mx+b so idk why you went through the whole thing after finding the slope you could have just plugged it into the equation of a line and said y = 1/3x :D

and lol it's hard reading math from text like this :S LOL y(1) i would have written it as ysub1 :D
