the old women in our area wear a bet different type of kameez partug.
i do,nt know why but it looks to me a bet iranian old dress type.It is not the same as khat-partug.The kamees is big size with wide open sleeves. It is very different then what other women wear nowdays. It is disappearing now and only old women wear it.It is nice and tradional.I remembered the old men back in the old days when i was 7,8 years wear old tradional clothes, now the normal kameez-partug.
Today the pashtunkhwa people from their main area such as charsada, pekhawar, mardan, swabi, nokhar, banu, hangu etc wear the same dress. In trible areas many women still wear the old khat-partug.
The kunar, lagman and nangarhar etc men wear the same as peshwar valley pashtuns.
The kandahari men wear a bet different but young women wear same kameez partug.
pashtuns wear the same drees almost.

This is getting really silly now. You really have to dissect each and every thing? Even so, do it properly, there are far better ways of criticising.

who says shalwar kameez is pakistani dress.. what is pakistan, only 60 + years old... stupidity of some members here is beyond any limit.

some history 101 would be very beneficial to some members here. partog is even influence behind the idea of pants that westerners wear today. get your facts straight.

kakargirl, khor,i am from pashtunkhwa belong to gadoon area and tribe.
our tribe came from ,,gwara margy,, near kandahar at the end of 17th century to present area.
Our language was southren pashtu but now changed to northren pakhtu .We still use few southren pashtu words such as ,,basha,,for bakha (a bird),,,The yousufzais call it ,,baakha,,we say ,,baasha,,.They say ,,khorwa,,we use ,,shorwa,,etc.
Pashtu is same language no matter north or south. It is the beauty of our lanuage.I have deep respect for ,,kandahar,,since it is the land of our ancesters. The kakar tribe is our casun tribe.Th Gadoons are originated from Ashraf also known as Jadoon (Gadoon) of the Panni clan of the Gharghasht Afghan. Panni, Kakar, Naghar and Dawi were four sons of Daney who was the son of Ismail, also known as Ghurghusht, who was the son of Qais Abdur Rashid.
It is in fact southren ,,zjadoon,, changed to northren pakhtu and now pronounce as gadoon by yousufzais and other pashtun tribes.
The vast majority of our tribe lives on the southren slope of ,,maaband mountain,,in gadoon area of swabi distt.Few of our tribes men crossed int the hazara region. Some lives in Queta. Some dolzais sub-tribe of gadoon also present in jalal abad/afghanistan.Some lives on the border of wairistan and di khan.
The dress old women wearing in our area is realy different. It is disappearing now.

khoraky, you are right.Pakistan is not ethnicity nor identity.Pakistan has no history are culture. In pashtu it is ,,khat-partug.Kameez -partug.It is our dress. The original dress of punjabis is ,,lung-kurta,,,not kamees-partug.
The village people in punjab still wearing ,,lung,,and women wear ,,lehnga,,not kameez -partug.

^no its not. the concept of partog is mainly afghan/pashton and persian. the traditional Indian attire from south to north has nothing partog style in it. they mainly wore 'dhoti' style bottoms, even the women. if you would attend a panjabi indian wedding you would see that the women who dress in traditional panjabi clothes for the event, wear dhoti and kameez.

Muslim invaders brought the concept of partog to them, mainly the persians and afghans. the tight pajama style partog is very persian. and the wide, more open partog is mainly worn by afghans.

the dress line called 'anarkali' is basically the gard laman dress that afghans and persians wore, and they still do. if you watch some indian movies about moghul empire in India, you will notice the kings wearing semi gard laman kamees and tight partog... and in their courts the women wearing the gard lamen clothes and underneat tight partog.

anyways, i am at work can't write a more detailed post with examples and links but u should do some research about it.
