Yes we do the same as well.
In Laghman, within the keli amongst khel.....the women wear chadars like that. The people are very close, related, and respectful to one another. So really no need of a burqa. However, once you step outside of the kili, then yes, a burqa should be worn.

I am an admirer of tradional pashtun dress (gardlaman) as well as the light-wieght version of it i.e., kameez-partug that Pashtuns have developed to achieve ease, comfort, and greater mobility (also fashion and economy)...I think it is sober and dignified and allows for greater innovation and variety...Originally posted by Laila View PostYep, that is how our keli women dress.
Personally, I don't like ornate/baroque (and overly and ludicrously westernized) dress and heavy make-up...that seems vulgar...I think Pashtun women in Kameez-parthug (with variety and fashion) look graceful...
That is my opinion...may be I am wrong...Last edited by Toramana; 05-15-2011, 12:56 AM.

also aabehayat shalwar kamees is actually an afghan male dress that was adopted by subcontinental folk after various afghan conquests of the region. women in rural afghanistan usually wear garde lamane without the slits to the side. in the modern day shalwar kamees has been adopted for girls as well by punjabis, and they have spread to pakhtuns in cities such as quetta, peshawar, lashkar gah, kandahar, etc.
my guess is that saris for women and those skirt things for men is the authentic dress for southasians but i could be wrong.Last edited by qunduz92; 05-15-2011, 02:30 PM.

Spin partuguna are a must if you ask me. You can get them stitched in black too of course, but it's the best thing to grab when you're looking for something comfy to grab after a long tiring day for that loosened up feeling, either under a skirt, or a dress of any kind, looks fine is you ask me and sometimes, doesn't even show. I like the lace part, how it sits on the footOriginally posted by qunduz92 View Postkhorake its not historically traditional, it's just common now. traditionally even young girls wear the speen gebe partog lol with the lace on the bottom. its limited to elders only relatively recently.
