In my perspective afghans = pashtuns.

Pashtuns are actually in a good situation and pukhto is on the rise you guys are living in the late eighties.
Afghan culture is pukhtun culture and other ethnicities have integerated themselves into it.

Sorry but the facts state otherwise. A quick example - the make-up of you're army is about as foreign to pashtuns as the Isaf forces. Dari/farsi is prevailing in the media and is the emerging middle classes choice of communication.

Ghandari's is the people of the Gandhara civilization. Which was in modern day Peshawer to Kabul valleys. But, you wouldn't know that since you only know about Persians. Pashtuns, Hindko's and Dards are said to be descendants of Ghandari's.
