No, I would not wear it. I would wear something more revealing and easy to swim in. Thats too much cloth for a swimming suit. Why? Because, first of all, I would NOT swim in the presence of men, thus absolutely no need to cover to that extent. Secondly, Hijaab is not limited to covering your hair. Theres much more to it.
You know the Hadeeth that says that one of the signs of the day of Judgement is that tight clothing among women will become so common, to the extent that it will look like they've been painted on her, revealing everything - this suit is a clear example of that. Not a nice sight. I still remember how much I laughed when I first saw it...

it's called a "Burkini". i think the term can be offensive but for those of us who like swimming, it's a better option than nothing. i m not very keen on the idea of swimming in public but that's just me.

think of it as this james. back where i come from, every man makes sure that his wife covers up from head to toe especially when she is in company of men. suppose you go back there with your gf or wife and it's expected of you to treat her as such regardless of what reasons you might have for not wanting to do that and some one walks up to you and says "well, every other man is making his wife do it.." how would you feel?Originally posted by JamesI think ladies here need to cool off, not ever guy will molest you if you are in a bikini at a beach. There are tons of women wearing it, Its not like you will be an alien.
I respect the culture (if its part of it) or religion (if its part of it) but saying no to swimming is just not right.

In most 3rd World Asian and African countries, if someone goes to a beach and walks around in a bikini, she would be looked down upon and perhaps even arrested. On the other hand, if someone goes to a Western beach and puts on a tent or a burkini, she'd be looked down upon... that's just how it is.Originally posted by JamesOkay and I agree with that notion, But when you live in the USA I feel as though you need to join the popular culture and integrate into our society.
Coming from an Eastern background, I'd be uncomfortable with my wife walking around in a bikini. At the same time though, a burkini would be totally out of the question. Hell, even I'd be uncomfortable with walking on a beach with just my shorts on...."If a nation expects to be ignorant and free, in a state of civilization, it expects what never was and never will be".
"Knowledge will forever govern ignorance; and a people who mean to be their own governors must arm themselves with the power which knowledge gives".

Wait, what's the difference between this outfit and just a shirt and pants and a head-covering? Why give it the title of "Muslim swim suit"? So Muslim girls who think that modesty mostly lies in clothing will buy it and your business will succeed?Originally posted by DangerousPukhtun
Prettty interesting.
Would you ladies wear it?
Speaking of doing stuff for business, at a recent conference on women and Islam, someone was selling "Islamic socks" at a booth. LOL. Fascinated and amused, I asked her, "What's the logic behind this, sis?" And she said, "Well, when you're doing wudhoo (ablution), you don't have to take off your socks; you just pull them up."
Or something like this.
I thought "Islamic socks" are absolutely unnecessary. I mean, seriously, what's so difficult about taking off your socks before you perform your ablution? But I imagine their name is VERY attractive and the business must be flourishing already.
