Raising the Impact Factor: PF Posting and Hoaxes

One area that needs strengthening is having an active moderator team. Obviously the forum 'editorial' is easier when we are on the same page, but having diverse thought on the moderating team can allow for open debate. I feel that our personnel needs bolstering, but we are also dependent on active posters. The ratios have to match. But I am open to suggestions if there is a better model.

We have lurkers and posters, some of whom may be described by others as 'trolls'. Sometimes giving people enough rope so that they catch themselves out is the best tactic, but I realise that this has to be checked. Frankly, you did a very good job at dealing with 25% 75% TajikPashtun or whatever his name was. I'm caught between a rock and a hard place when it comes to people making ridiculous statements about the Prophet's marriage. Do I rise to the bait, or do I engage in debate? There are mischief makers who often have no intention of listening, so why take the hook? On the other hand guiests who come into your house should know their place. Strong argument for a zero tolerance editorial.

But mostly and largely Pashtuns are a diverse people. Whereas our body politik is conservative/traditional, that is not our only defining feature. Indeed the extreme conservatism that has characterised the Taliban or the reasons that we have been in a state of war for 30 something years is actually very far away from most Pashtuns I know in reality or online. That said, what we are or what we should be is not for others to decide. I understand why Members might be frustrated at [MENTION=5349]Hallo[/MENTION]'s constant cultural chauvinism. I don't think it is right for me to discuss the private messages that I have with Members but when [MENTION=5349]Hallo[/MENTION] (or others have broken house rules), I have issued infractions or bans. I am not the only one to ban; Moderators have the option to impose a time ban. Suffice to say, during my time on this forum, I have learned to filter a lot of the background noise. I know that that isn't always right but it takes me back to what I said at the beginning. We need a strong and active Moderating team and I am a man who can listen.

PS On the matter of the marriage of Mohammed PBUH and Aishah RA. I don't think it was out of context for its time or its political significance. This is not something that even needs 'apology' but thank you all the same for sticking you neck out.

Last time when i came online...people were discussing prophet mohammad sallalaho alayhi wa alihi wasallam with disrespect...Regardless of who we are....we pashtuns ll always be sorted out by our religion AND ethnicity....Not one factor.Today we need much more to raise our voices togather...to change the events on to them who has thrown us in this state....inshAllah...in upcoming few days people ll start coming to this site.

If one member does propaganda for IS, other has the right to do so for Kurds or Shias or Iraqi government or US or humanity as this is humanity versus IS issue. Similarly pro Putin and those who are against him have similar rights.

My dream for PF is that it should be FB counterpart for Pashtuns and those who are interested in Pashtun affairs. Openness, no censor, tolerance and creativity should be the hallmarks of PF. NO ONE SHOULD NEVER NEVER BE BANNED. In this age of competition , eveny one should be welcomed to use PF for their propaganda, marketing or for genuine reasons of improving the conditions of Pashtuns.

If Centcom is using this platform for their propaganda or Taliban or IS are using it for their benefit, it is the success of the outreach of PF. Doors of PF must be opened for all. If some money is earned thru PF, it may be used for any Pashtun cause. Abdali, Herat, Kais and Toramana must be welcomed equally. Here should not be only few active members but out of millions of Pashtuns , at least thousands should be active here. Like this thread, we may not target members but their ideas. No need to highlight who says, but what he or she says.

Personally I have a job where I earn decently without becoming tool or stooge of any one. My life and death is for Pashtun cause. I feel a fire inside me for any Pashtun related matter. I find PF the ideal place for my catharsis or contributing anything for further amelioration of the dilapidated conditions of Pashto and Pashtuns. In Islam my interest is up to Sufism and upto the extent it influences lives of Pashtuns. Yes one of my target area is Islamism. In politics I am Realist and want to see Pashtun realist politicians.

I will strongly suggest that administration may not resort to narrow and mean strategies . Members should also behave properly and this way we will have rendezvous for Pashtuns and those who have some connection with us.

Well I am not disagreeing with you in that the key word is propaganda. I personally do not think that anyone should do propaganda for IS here because many youth come here and this is unnecessarily putting them in harms way.

So to that end I think its consistent to ask for elimination of propaganda and if a discussion is to occur, solid source references should be checked into.

Additionally, if we are to look into the ethical side of things, I hardly think its fair to Greenwald and Snowden as well to spread a lie about something they supposedly said but it ends up being false. In the case of Snowden right now there is a debate going on about whether his actions were of the whistle blower status or whether he hurt the state security apparatus. In a fair situation, observers and onlookers should be fed just the facts.

For instance, a CNN reporter interviewed 2 youth IS members and they looked completely dumb in their responses and in their inability to justify the beheading of James Foley. So I am not against that since that is direct words from the horses mouth itself and shows the caliber (or lack thereof) of the foot soldiers and IS Captains in answering questions and offering any even war based reasoning for their actions.

But I would say its completely retarded and idiotic for someone to peddle some nonsense that says Israel sent the order from Tel Aviv to Bhagdadi in his ear to behead Foley etc.

A forceful and vibrant discussion should occur regarding IS, ANA, ANP, Taliban, et al but it should be based on facts etc so that when opinions are formulated they are steeped in intelligent evidence.

The more truth we know of the matter the more likely we are to identify the true problems and attack them at their roots instead of using either a militant religious or a secular militant destructive approach.

lots of members use bad words and insulting also me! but there is a huge deffirence another user never get banned but tor_khan always ban me,it seems like his favourite hobby to follow me and to ban me; another mods and admins are rreading this insulting but nothing happen but when i use the f word i got immediately badn by tor_khan; this is the main reason why pf is loosing members!

See that is the problem though. I think Tor Khan is justified just as the moderators were justified in banning a former temporary member here long ago who posted soldier mutilation pictures and flood the forum with Talib press release statements. Often these statements were not able to be substantiated and provided a lopsided view.

The issue is that an abundance of your posts are like the ones I pointed out. I even tried to help you by giving you the Camp Bucca article which was evidence based and showed how the Americans may have inadvertently radicalized Baghdadi, but you instead chose to allow this fabrication and hoax to persist here regarding Snowden.

Pretty much all your posts focus on the Assad-iran-Maliki-Putin government narrative and do so in a way that offers poor quality evidence. There are many arguments to make for the national security of the West being more in line with Iran and Russia but you bring bad evidences to the table so that no one can discuss anything valuable.

I pointed out two hoax propagating posts above and there are many many more.

How else is the forum supposed to do quality control on its discussions and make sure people go away from here better educated? Tor Khan has made it clear that he also does not adhere to the concept that Taliban are native or innate or that their cultural practices are in line with Pashto and Pashto Kawol but you choose to call him biased nonetheless.

Why don't you prove to us that you are willing to offer substantive discussions by pledging to post quality articles and references from high caliber places from now on instead of disseminating clearly false propaganda like I definitively showed you had above?

Every one cannot be Dr. Abdali so we can have him as a standard that every post must be well referenced but this is not the capacity of all the posters. Also in a Research oriented thread we must behave like researchers but in general discussions , the standards should be kept minimum.

While chating here, no body has the time and resources or capability to write as we write in research articles. If we forget the person and focus on the words, then many personal clashed will be avoided and we can have meaningful discussions.

Very quickly after that, you will pick an issue with a Moderator and make it personal. You have done this several times before.

Not everyone can be a Moderator, but you are right, Shebaz is clean. I like the guy's stoic patience and his calm manner. Others may disagree with his politics; perhaps you and me too, but I do respect his approach.
