Which pashtuns? He was Persian not pashtun. So why should we be proud of a man who named our Attan Dance after himself?

what you are saying is not true.
he didnt name attan after him.
attan has nothing to do with him.

he is famous for that circling darwish dance.
saying pashtuns or farsiwans are proud of him is also farfetched.

When if comes to the facts: Rumi was probably of the Tajik origin and was born not far from Balkh. Balkh belonged to the Iranian teritory, but in those days there was no central power, power was dispersed and distributed, and de facto based on local leaders. The fact is that Rumi wrote his works in Persian language. But we should not forget that at the of Rumi north-eastern Iran was the largest center of material and intellectual culture. Those centers had a significant impact also on the modern Persian language. Some scholars clearly state that modern Persian was derived from Tajiki.
Rumi spent most of his life in Turkish Konya. Several nations claims the exclusive right to his works, and probably all of them are partially right. I wonder with what nationality he would indentify himself. Maybe only with Islam and Sufism.

Knowledge of historical context helps to understand the past, but usually does not simplify clear statements whether something is white or black.

          Blkha under iranian rule?
you mean under the Sunni Islamic rule which also consited of iran?
while many tajiks might respect rumi as their fellow country man they do not agree with him.For example the renowned Afghan scientist Sediq afghan refuted sufis and said that we dont need mawlana to be muslims all we nee dot follow is Qurana and Hadeeth. His rteasons were because Mawlanan brought dance and music into Islam which wasnt and isnt part of Islam.
but he did say that he respected him as fellow countyr man but wasnt one of those people who would quote him to make a point regarding Islam.

It is belived he called the attan the "rumi dance" when he witnessed Pashtun tribes circling and dancing around the fire. This dance had also reached the steppes of Anatolia when he migrated to turkey. Turks usually wear long dresses when they perform the dance.

Let's focus on his message rather than hating him or loving him on the basis of where he was from or to what ethnic group he belonged. Let's learn from the wise people around.

Who said that Pashtuns are fighting with Punjab, punjabis? They see them as fellow countrymen...if pashtuns rise up against punjab like bengalis then Pakistan is done for, but it wont happen.

                              Impossible.

No one had ever thought of KP ever being part of india until now.
