So how about my suggestion? Having him as a Think-tank... I think its one level below moderator. (They can't edit or delete posts though)
I am the author of Badal, an upcoming fiction novel on the War on Terror. For more information about me visit www.havisultan.com

I would give him the title of Mashar (wise elder) rather than Think Tank. Think Tanks remind of clueless Western Technocrats who have charisma to speak of.

                        1. I think Admin Khan should organize some sort of consultative body for the forum e.g. "Mashwera majlis" etc.

The discussions on that sub-forum would be secret and not visible to anyone besides moderators or members of the mashwera.

I would recommend the following people for such a body, i.e. the following forum "elders".

                        - Toramana
                        - Kushan Prince
                        - BarakzaiAbdali

                        2. I am glad to see many members here are very appreciative of Dr Abdali's work on this forum.

a - It takes time to write long posts here.

b - It takes even longer time to do the research for the post.

c - It then takes time to filter out that research and edit it to put in a good quality post.

Manana to Dr Abdali for his valuable work and contribution to Pashtun Forums.

A line[Durrand line] of hatred that raised a wall between the two brothers -Hamid Karzai

For generations, the Hindus of India prayed for deliverance from "the venom of the cobra, the teeth of the tiger and the vengeance of the Afghan."

The men of Kábul and Khilj also went home; and whenever they were questioned about the Musulmáns of the Kohistán (the mountains), and how matters stood there, they said, "Don't call it Kohistán, but Afghánistán; for there is nothing there but Afgháns and disturbances." Thus it is clear that for this reason the people of the country call their home in their own language Afghánistán, and themselves Afgháns. The people of India call them Patán; but the reason for this is not known. But it occurs to me, that when, under the rule of Muhammadan sovereigns, Musulmáns first came to the city of Patná, and dwelt there, the people of India (for that reason) called them Patáns—but God knows!

                            Bro,

Salamoona, You are a good man and have been very tolerant! Hope all is well with you and the family. Unfortunately, there are very few that can understand the unique political discourse we have developed based on our environment and circumstances - but I think we speak in similar terms and despite any overarching disagreements- we completely agree on having views, but at least buttressing them with some reasonable evidences. It has been a pleasure to see you develop this site and your own business acumen in the process - Be safe and stay strong!

                              Bengal Tiger,

As always, I appreciate our discussions. We may agree on many things and we may also disagree on important things - but I have never seen disrespect from you and think that you provide a valuable viewpoint that fellow Muslims need to here. The Muslim world is vibrant and not monolithic- the sooner we recognize this and the sooner we come to some reasonable regional collective approach to survival, the less likely we are to suffer the fate of African Natives (African continent as a whole) and the former natives of America. This will require leadership that incorporates many in a big tent approach and brings things back from the far right and far left to an informed center.

I have said it before, and will again, the Bengali people are a beautiful people, endowed with unique attributes, suffered important struggles, and havemade important contributions to the Muslim world. We appreciate your presence.

It is true I sometimes get testy, and the higher road approach worked for a while, but my newer strategy has been to never throw out the first ad hominem insult (which I have never done in any of my exchanges). I attempt to stay on message, have a vigorous debate, and only respond to ad hominem with ad hominem when the other party initiates hostilities.

The reason I abandoned the higher road approach was that I noted many a times in the older posts that Muslims were getting insulted left and right with pretty severe epiteths and were expected to "suck it up." My personal view on this is that this was tolerated by these people for far too long despite them having the right to answer in kind. I wanted to and still want to give them the courage, strength, and voice to answer back and not be intimidated by people who think they represent modernity and civility yet resort to name calling when they feel off their center of balance in an evidence based argument.

I also think that this is OK because Muslims need to be able to answer things verbally in a more equal to equal fashion. Take for instance the recent Muhammad (S) cartoons controversy. Some uninformed colleagues at work were harping on Muslim behavior... I reminded them of the famous "Beatles are Bigger Than Jesus" controversy instigated by John Lennon:

On March 4, 1966, an article appeared in the London Evening Standard that would cause an uproar and ripple for some time. Journalist Maureen Cleave was doing a series titled “How Does a Beatle Live?” and her encounter with John Lennon provided controversy that spread far beyond the London paper.
“Christianity will go,” Lennon said. ”It will vanish and shrink. I needn’t argue about that. I’m right and I’ll be proved right. We’re more popular than Jesus now. I don’t know which will go first, rock ‘n’ roll or Christianity. Jesus was all right but his disciples were thick and ordinary. It’s them twisting it that ruins it for me.”
Read More: 49 Years Ago: John Lennon's 'Beatles More Popular Than Jesus' Story Is Published | http://ultimateclassicrock.com/john-...ckback=tsmclip

I told how John received many death threats and the rural religious American South exploded with live piles of Beatles Album burnings.

The comments generated little response in Britain, but after U.S. teen mag Datebook reprinted the quote out of context months later, the controversy boiled over. Alabama disc jockeys Doug Layton and Tommy Charles of WAQY initiated a “Beatle Boycott” urging people to take their Beatles “records and paraphernalia” to designated places to burn them. The Beatles, and Lennon in particular, were momentarily the devil incarnate to the Bible Belt and beyond, just as they were about to begin a U.S. tour.

Lennon and the band obviously survived the ordeal, and the tour went on as planned. But the controversy as a result of his statements, which included death threats, was one of the reasons why the Beatles decided to give up the road upon the tour’s completion.
The point is that there are many Muslims who are influenced by "popular opinion" and have no sense of history or how the very same people leveling insults at Islam today were doing worse yesterday (Mark David Chapman, a fundamentalist Christian, would go on to eventually shoot and kill John Lennon, btw). The album burning event was some ~45 to 50 years ago (i.e. very recent in relative terms)... yet the lack of knowing history and recent and current events and the intricacies and details in such matters leads weak minded people down the wrong path.

And of course, even to the above, there will be loads of responses trying to note how such events occur with greater frequency and intensity in the Muslim world forgetting the concept of confounding factors... i.e. the Muslim world is engaged in multiple theaters of war under autocratic regimes that also promote such responses to deflect anger away from the autocracies - this is coupled to a post 1920s shattered empire phase... The point is, that there are actually many citeable events like the Lennon one above (e.g. Eric Rudolph attacking the abortion clinic in the 1990s, etc) and that these events occurred in the context of the most powerful nation in the world with complete independence in their hand and rapid development occurring... the slight similarity is that the Civil War devastated the America South in the late 1800s making its regional development distinct from that of the North... but the point still stands that every people, of every faith has similar responses to their memes being insulted and will at times, in the right circumstances, do sometimes insane things to feel as if they are defending their honor:

Biologists have long discussed human beings tendency to treat memes as equivalent or nearly so to their genetics. But alas, I lament that most Muslim colleagues are not ready to verbally joust and defend themselves in this way and simply quietly back out of a vigorous defense of providing proofs that Islam and the Muslim peoples are not unique in their passionate responses of religious defense!

So I look at these jousts as encouraging Muslims to engage in a civilized and vigorous equal level debate. That is, your opponent makes a claim, make him back with evidence... your opponent says something non evidence based, no matter how unpopular it makes you, rebut it.. your opponent goes ad hominem, if it is to the advantage of the debate, you go there too.

However, if nothing else, I can promise you that I will continue to never initiate hostilities. A case in point was the recent Khostai back and forth. I said pretty much next to nothing to him, but he decided to get into a discussion I was having with another person and level some insults. Now, laughable as they are, I had to make sure he got put in his place when he initiated hostilities.

Also, bro, I dont want the burden of leadership! I wouldn't do justice to the unique management of this forum. I prefer to retain the current status because it permits me more room to discuss unpopular opinions more freely. Admin Khan and Tor Khan have done a superb job keeping their views out of the mix and making everyone feel like they have an advocate.

Its also preferable to let the others who disagree with me feel that I dont have the power the edit their posts or punish them... that way, things remain fair.
