But I don't consider the atheists as pashtun..therefore no division..

Pashtuns is the name of a race, ethnic group and not a religion. 1400 years back Pashtuns were not Muslims but Hindus or Buddhists so were they not Pashtuns at that time.

I personally know many non Muslim Pashtuns. Many people here in forums also call atheists or secular Pashtuns as Non Muslim because of their ideas so it does not make them non Pashtun because they are Pashtun by race and ethnicity. One can be converted to another religion but cant change one's genes.

I have a friend who is from Mingora Swat and hes a full blooded Pashtun but happens to be from the Sikh faith.

I regard him as a fellow Pashtun.

This is the thing everything changed after the 70's when the West, Arabs and Pakistanis started their so called Islamic revolutions starting with Afghanistan first and so on.

Our culture and freedom of intellectuality dimished due to the Saudis petro dollars being spent on their Wahabist indoctrination being spread globally.

Now the Muslim world is merely a prison for people who wish to discuss things that the Mullahs will not like.

The usual bullying tactics is wide spread in the Muslim world against other Muslims who wish to distance themselves from radicalt teachings.

I discussed this issue in some other topic. In the whole anthem there is one phrase Allah o Akbar God is great. Rest of the anthem is nationalistic, Afghan and secular. No religion is there. Then will you dont sing those secualr, non religious parts of the anthem if nationalism is haram in Islam?

God if taken as energy or a vital force or nature by an atheist then one can say Nature is great. For an atheist the concept of God can be different from the religious concept of God.

Pashtuns were there when they were not Muslims. Religion has nothing to do with ethnicity. There are non Muslim Arabs and there can be non Muslim Pashtuns.

agnostic = maybe God.
