  • An impression about this forum

After few days of stay on this forum, the point I have noted about this site is, it is more on the conservative side of the ideological divide with radical Islamist elements dominating. The second thing I observed is, there are more Afghan nationalist sentiments expressed here than Pashtun nationalist sentiments.

As the discussion in various threads show, the emphasis, unfortunately is more on Afghaniyath which overshadows the Pashun reality and pushes Pushtun identity on the backburner. Another problem is the incursion by "Paakki" elements.

I invite discussion of the learnt members on this.

The thing I love about this place is that you learn a lot from people. It is a forum where everyone is contributing in one way or another. Those who are making this forum a pleasant place with their contributions are rewarded by members as the "member of the week."

I find that the views that are expressed here are generally what you would find in a Pashtun household: nationalism, patriotism and Islam--that is not to say that they are right or wrong. However, those views are scrutinized and are discussed so that more light can be shed on whether Pashtun ideals are right or wrong.

I like the decorum that the admin and moderators are trying to create. In due time, more people will flock here. It is a place to learn!
Islam will prevail, a promise made by the Creator of this universe:

[61:8] They desire to extinguish the light of Allah with the breath of their mouths, but Allah will perfect His light, even if the disbelievers hate it.

[61:9] He it is Who has sent His Messenger with the guidance and the Religion of truth, that He may cause it to prevail over all religions, even if those who associate partners with God hate it.

May be that was true during Khushal era but there is no longer a one-to-one correspondence between the "Afghan" term and "Pashtun" people. All in all, it is an alien- and probably also a derogatory- term created by Persians for Pashtuns which the Persian speaking monarchy of Afghanistan exploited for its political ends.

We are all human beings, creation of allah and we are by majority muslims and we are all brothers.

If your impression is that this is such or so, it means you perceive things the way you think about the world around you.

You are beating about the bush instead of directly answering the critism. If you are only a Muslim or human being, what are you doing here knowing this forum is meant to serve Pashtuns? Why don't you go join your eutopian world where there are only Muslims without other identifications?

The irrationality in your post is self-revealing.

What's the problem? Are you somehow unhappy becausse this forum tends more towards Islam rather than fascism and Pashtun supremacism?

Toramana - make your contribution - lead the way in Pashtoon cultural revivalism ... I'm behind that one.

The one thing, I struggle with personally, is people who can't see the direct connection with language and culture and the NEED to have people literate in the language/culture that they claim to defend.

That's the inherent contradiction with the Pashtoon nationalist sentiments from the Eastern side of the Durand - lots of talk (mixed with Urdu and English), but not much do. Literacy in Pashto is all but neglected. If you want to wake a people up, then give them their language back.

We need to change that, because you can't be a Pashtoon nationalist whilst shouting about it in English.

The Pashto language section on these forums needs full participation and activity.

No, I am disappointed because this forum tends more towards religio/Islamo-fascisim of which Pashtuns in particular and lot of other human beings are the worst victims. I think it should fulfill the purpose it is claimed to have been created for i.e., inculcation of progressive and humanistic nationalism in Pashtuns.

NEWSFLASH! Pashtuns are conservative devout Muslims. Not humanists.

Go home and have a good look in your own village and decide what it is like.

BTW remove the word islam-fascism from your vocabulary. Unless you are kaafir. Because the word islamo-fascism is invented by kuffaar who oppose the spread of Islam. You don't want to be one of them, do you?

If you want to live in your world of illusions where you can imagine any fanatsy, that is another thing, otherwise most of Pashtuns are pragmatic human beings that know how to keep a balance between religion and needs of life. They are not sadistically obcessed with imposing Kahalafath on themselves or others.

I think you're quite right Sangar. In addition many devout Muslim Pashtoons also happen to love art, music and poetry.

                        What to do?

Spreading Islam through reason and logic or peaceful means is a noble thing to do. Imosing it on others (religio-fascism) is a problem that the world must deal with an iron hand.

How much time have you passed in Pashtun villages? What kind of Islam do you yourself believe in, the fascist one or the one which preaches co-existance with others?

Is behind that fondness art, music, poetry, etc. die-hard Pan-Islamist idealism?

                              Quoted for truth.

Just because you claim Islam is right, and just because Allah has declared that Islam is the only religion in His sight, does not mean that you force people to follow it. At the end of the day, each to his or her own. If Allah wanted everyone to be Muslim He would have done it without allowing us to choose.

Those who impose religion on people know that it is a tool to control the masses, unfortunately. They have no care for Islam or cultivating a good character in human beings. They just want to have control over the minds of people. One way of doing is to put fear into the hearts of people by means of distorting religion.

Just so people know, Allah has declared Himself categorically as the Lord of the Worlds, not only as the Lord of Muslims.
