  • our first PF meet up went smooth in Downtown Toronto

    Greetings PashtunForums,

Our first ever PF meet up was yesterday at Toronto. It was my pleasure, and absolute honor in meeting up with some of the brightest minds of Pashtun Forums. I had the pleasure of meeting up with Nick, Toramana, Amir al Ghaznavi, Meemwawmeemnoon, BLS1919V2.0, Alchemist, and many other local Afghan scholars from various other websites. I just wanted to thank everyone who took the time out to visit me in Toronto. I know many of you had to travel from various parts of Canada, and I appreciate it. I had a blast.

My impression on the Canadian Diaspora:
I was highly impressed to see the Afghan/Pashtun community thriving. They even had a local Pashto newspaper! I had the pleasure in meeting up with the president of one of the Afghan associations, and I was highly impressed. Keep it up people. Make your nation proud.

    Best,
    A

    P.S
I also attended a local Kandahari wedding in Canada, and I was allowed to record the Attan. I will post it later on to show how the local Torontonian Pashtuns held it down.

A line[Durrand line] of hatred that raised a wall between the two brothers -Hamid Karzai

For generations, the Hindus of India prayed for deliverance from "the venom of the cobra, the teeth of the tiger and the vengeance of the Afghan."

The men of Kábul and Khilj also went home; and whenever they were questioned about the Musulmáns of the Kohistán (the mountains), and how matters stood there, they said, "Don't call it Kohistán, but Afghánistán; for there is nothing there but Afgháns and disturbances." Thus it is clear that for this reason the people of the country call their home in their own language Afghánistán, and themselves Afgháns. The people of India call them Patán; but the reason for this is not known. But it occurs to me, that when, under the rule of Muhammadan sovereigns, Musulmáns first came to the city of Patná, and dwelt there, the people of India (for that reason) called them Patáns—but God knows!

We discussed everything you can possibly imagine. We had some steaming, yet intelligent debates. We hanged out from 1pm to 9ishPM. It was a blast. All in all, I was impressed. We had a professional round table discussion. One thing I can't get over is how much you Canadians like Tim Hortons and the way you pronounce 'route'. They say root.

When you guys met, did you guys feel like you had an impression of someone, then saw that that you may have been right or wrong? Did you see that you may have more in common in person than you thought?
