Ok. what your saying does not make sense. Pashtuns don't have to spend money when they marry their daughters like panjabis do. All the financial burden falls on the grooms family. In panjabis culture all the financial burden falls on the brides family and that is why abortion of female fetuses is so high in panjabis because they want to relief that financial burden.Originally posted by Pakwatan View PostNo. They married Saraiki Pathans.
Its sound like your making everything up as shahbaz khan have already explained.

I think that is from Hindu culture, where all the financial responsibility is on the brides family. I dont think muslims in the subcontinent follow that. At least people in Karachi dont. Not sure about Interior people though, I think Pakwatan is from a small townOriginally posted by khushal View PostOk. what your saying does not make sense. Not all muslims have broken that tradition, and he claimed that his grandfather paid for those weddings so his family does follow that tradition.Originally posted by Karachi View PostI think that is from Hindu culture, where all the financial responsibility is on the brides family. Let me try to break this down for you.
There are KPK Pashtuns in the North which are just like their Afghan counter parts.
Then there the Mianwali Niazis, that although speak Saraiki, can speak Pashto and follow pretty much the same culture as you guys.
Now the Saraikis I'm talking about are Riyasatis. They live in both sides of the Indus river in South Punjab,
This is Riyasat:

They are the original city dwelling people of the land. Pashtuns, Baluch, and Punjabis are all technically outsiders.
Punjabis settled in the rural areas outside the cities to farm. I'm not sure how Pashtuns or Baluch came but it was probably for economic reasons or from wars long ago.
Saraikis can be Rajput, Jatt, Gujjar, Pathan, or Baluch. However, they all speak Saraiki and retain Saraiki culture.
Their rawaj(customs) are different when it comes to marriage. Yes the groom side do take care of jewelry, clothes and Valeema. But the bride side also take care of bharat and food.
So the Saraiki Pathans that I mentioned did not speak Pashto, and I'm not sure how much Pashtun culture they retain other than being called Khan saab.
Now the daughters that I had mentioned were not Saraiki Pathans. They were kochis.
Kochis come from KPK to our area during winter to work, as their winters are harsh, and the winters in South Punjab are very mild. They are like nomadic Pashtuns.
I hope this cleared some of this up. I know it sounds confusing, but you can only understand once you come and visit South Punjab, and I would be happy to host anyone If I am there.
Karachi, I'm disappointed you think Bahawalpur is a small town. It's a decent sized city. Various people come from all over Pakistan, especially from KPK and Northern areas like to go hunting in our national wildlife park.
Kushan Prince, I am not a Pashtun or Saraiki. I am a Punjabi Arain.Last edited by Pakwatan; 01-27-2014, 04:13 PM.

lol this Pakwatan is confusing pashtuns of tablighi jamaat with taliban. People in punjab and elsewhere send this "degh" to tablighis staying in mosques of their mohallahs or villages. First of taliban dont roam around in punjab to stuff their stomachs, they have lot of cash. Secondly they dont operate in punjab, their allied punjabi militants do.Last edited by Smarty; 01-28-2014, 05:53 AM.History of Pashtuns

The kochi or pawanda people dont marry within settled population of KPK, why they would marry their daughters to so called seraiki pathans (or simply punjabis) of punjab?...there are also nomadic jats in KPK who can speak pashto, may be they were them. My opinion is that this Pakwatan guy has habit of making up things. khushal actually caught him.History of Pashtuns

So what were those "taliban" doing in your area?.Originally posted by Pakwatan View PostYes brother, I have made all of this up. Thank you for exposing me. Tashkur.
Beware of some pathans in punjab. One of my school time class fellow frequently visits punjab, he disguise himself as a malang/faqeer, a pir baba and fools the jahil ones in rural punjab. He not only earns alot but also do some indecent things...samaj gaye key mera ishara kis taraf hey?
Some labourers from my village do go to punjab for labour. They have told me that women in village of punjab flirts with them. They can enter into house for water as there is no pardah among them and they dont mind the presence of a namaharam. The women talk with them in the presence of their beghairat males. One labourer even claimed that he has fcked a girl there in the wheat field/crop. He said rural punjab is very liberal and "fun". (dont worry i scolded him for his actions and remarks about punjabi muslims)History of Pashtuns

Hahahaha!Originally posted by Smarty View Postlol this Pakwatan is confusing pashtuns of tablighi jamaat with taliban. Tableeghis don't ask for food. They are already hosted in the locals masjid.
My grandfather treated the taliban like this in the late 80's and 90's because he thought they were fighting for Islam. And please, I ask you to pray for him. He was ten thousand times better than me. He is one of the people that really deserve Jannah.
You said that taliban don't collect funds, and they are already wealthy?
So tell me who gives these taliban money? Where they are getting their funds from, if not the local people? The taliban like any other organization have a network and they collect funds from conservative Muslims.
The taliban ten years ago used to come with izzat, and were treated as guests of the highest priority.
Now they come during our season of wheat harvesting, and collect grains. They sell the grains and buy arms. They bring X-ray slides from the dumps of Karachi and tell the locals that they worked in Dubai and had an accident. They give locals sob stories and recieve funds from them.
Why do I need to make this up?
Khuda ke naam par aap ayein kaabi Bahawalpur khushboo laga kar. I can show you myself.
You can keep calling me a liar, but I don't care. This is what I saw in Pakistan.
Forget about the time that I almost got taken hostage by the taliban, right from my house in my own village.

Lala, zaraa sharam karo. I can tell you some stories too about Pashtun women, but I am not here to score points. Every human acts the way they wish, but that cannot be used to represent an entire people.
My Punjabi grandmother and Punjabi mother were the most god-fearing women ever.
I refuse to let you insult my family because of some bad women. Please do not say these things again.

It is very hard to digest your stories, specially about taliban. those so called taliban with x-ray slides, are fake ones or you are simply mistaking them as taliban. You would also find them in peshawer and other areas, these are beggers.
It seems some dhokay-baaz/tug pakhtuns have fooled your people in disguise of taliban. Also many criminals from within pakhtuns are using name of taliban in punjab and elsewhere, it sells.History of Pashtuns
