Culture is process to live in group. Each society has norms to follow by individuals in order to retain society strong and intact.Culture refers to an appreciation of good literature, music, art, and food.It is the set of shared attitudes, values, goals, and practices that characterizes an institution, organization, or group.

While religion is the sum total of beliefs(in supernatural entities) modes of worship, spirituality and ethics.

The religion of Islam is monotheism, beliefs in angels, prophets, hereafter, destiny, prayers, fasting, charity, pilgrimage to Makkah and some moral injunctions.

Pashtunwali may be roughly said to be the name of the Pashtun culture. Pashtunwali does not touch these religious aspects as beliefs, worship and religious morality but it is about the way Pashtuns live in a group, it is about the Pashto literature, Pashtun music, art, food etc.

Pashtun culture is the sum total of the attitudes, values, goals and practices shared by Pashtuns as a nation or ethnic group. It is pat, wafa, tura, khegarha, nang, melmastya, nanawatey, badal, hujra, tang takor etc.

These cultural aspects of Pashtuns have nothing to do with the religion of Pashtuns. Pashtuns were Pashtuns when they were Hindus and Buddhists few hundreds years back. As there can be non Muslim Arabs, the same way there were and are non Muslim Pashtuns.

without meaning to be rude amatullah, it sounds to me as though you married the wrong man, if you are unable to ask him about his own culture and have to come here.

Why cant she have the right to get her information from whereever she wants. Its her choice. She can ask her husband as well as other people. An intellegent person would get their information from whever the information is, not from one source but as many sources as possible.

Judging from your post, you are no authority to dictate what pashtunwali is or what Islam is because you failed to realize both. Islam is more than Spirituality but dictates behavior inside and outside the home.

Pashtunwali is not a culture but a set of rules that guides behavior and a code of conduct that mostly rurals pashtuns use to settle disputes where central authority has failed to be established.

Islam sets guidelines on how human being should live humanly. Islam is submission to Allah, to Morality, to Rightousness.
The man made laws you promote are usually made for the majority or the elites benefit. Stability in a society has nothing to do with secularism but is determined by the abiity of that society to enforce laws. Slavery in America was enfored by the Authorities because it benefited the majority, not because it was right or wrong. It was abondoned becasue the nations economy was changing and no longer needed slave labor, not because it was right or wrong.

I was studying the Mayan beleif system but I dont have to follow it. Knowledge is limitless. You dont have to follow what you want to know or study or find knowledge about something.

The ignorance in some of you people is astonishing

You remind me of my illiterate killiwals(villagers) who advised me not to study christianity or hinduism because then I might follow it.

Who is authority who is not is not a scientific approach as here we are not talking of the revealed religion where authority matters where only a prophet is authority no body else. In internet discussion either every body is authority or no body is authority. You can challenge my definitions and I can challenge yours.

For me Islam is only and only a religion and as religion is only faith, worship and morality with spiritual touches, thus Islam only guiders you in these 3 spheres of your life. While Pashtunwali is culture and society of all Pashtuns both urban and rural, some where intense somewhere light.

The rule of law in developed world benefited all while the so called Islamic laws made Muslims the worst citizens of the world because they mixed religion with other non religious aspects of life and because of the lack of democracy and modern education. We don't see any fruit of this so called Islamic system any where in the world while every Muslim would love to be the part of the developed secular world.

which muslim country mixed religion with non religous aspects. most of the middle east is run by military autocrats. your not looking at the real problem and instead blaming something that shouldnt be blamed. If Islam was wrong it would not have spread like so quickly like wildfire and it would not have sustained.

Like I said pashtunwali is not a culture. it is a set of rules and a code of conduct mostly used by rural pashtuns. Pashtuns in the west dont live by pashtunwali becasue they cant. there is law that is enforced. your confused.
