I practice Pashtunwali. I speak Pashto. Am I any less Pashtun than you Muslims? tell me?
I respect whatever your choice of your faith is.
I am just wondering how can a Hindu be a Pukhtun???
I am still looking for an authentic final definition of Pukhtun. As far as we know we can be Pukhtuns by our bloodline not by our location.

^ Why don't you first explain how a Muslim can be a Pukhtoon? By the way, welcome back. Haven't seen you around in ages.
Tell me, does our identity as Pukhtoon exist longer or our believes as a Muslim? Exactly, some Pukhtoons have been Hindus since the existence of Hinduism, are you now saying they ain't 'Pukhtoon enough' because they didn't accept a religion which came much after their own religion and their own existence?Originally posted by شمله ور خراساني View Postyes, you are a polytheist. Have you considered accepting Islam?
Not just Kandaharis, all Afghans used to respect Hindus and especially Sikhs as they were one of the reasons why Afghanistan was flourishing so much decades back. Recently during my visit to Nangarhar I saw an area full of Sikh, though my mum used to say at least ten areas alone in Nangarhar used to be full of Sikhs. Unfortunately, that same number and same excitement in those Sikhs isn't alive any more. ;(Originally posted by hindupashtunWe even had temples in Kandahar. Kandahar was the most tolerant place in the world in my opinion. No one cared what you believed in.
Some things you will never get, will ya? Sikhism indeed came to Afghanistan few centuries ago, but existence of Hinduism is much older than that and nor can you decide whether they are Pukhtoons by blood or not!Originally posted by Luffy View PostThey are now respectful citizens of afghanstan (and are afghans) but they are not pashtuns. You have to be pashtun by blood in addition to speaking pashto.Gar Jahanum Sakhtam Ferdaws Ham Mesazamat

Right. Blood has nothing to do with location -- or with faith. So ... what do you mean by the following, guley:Originally posted by Jana View PostI respect whatever your choice of your faith is.

Does one have to be Muslim in order to be Pukhtun? The majority of Pashtuns may proclaim themselves as Muslims, but does that mean all SHOULD be Muslim?Originally posted by Jana View PostI am just wondering how can a Hindu be a Pukhtun???

There might be non-muslim pashtuns around but this is my point as before! Even if i see a pashtun who is muslim but is a fool and deviant. That doesn't mean i automatically will hug him and say oh brother nice to see you, lets be best friends.
We should not limit ourselves to our tribe and that is why whoever is good we accept them and who is bad i do not accept them. Hindus are misguided as they believe in more than one God.Last edited by Saifullah; 08-24-2010, 02:03 PM.

Being Pashtun has nothing to do with ones Faith. I am sure there are millions of Pashtuns who proclaim they are Muslim but do opposite of what Islam tells them to do.
Pashtun is our race and Identity and is longer than the existance of Islam.
Greeks recorded our presence way before Islam was about. Those were I can say the Real Pashtuns as they were not as disunited as we are now.
Kind Regards
