    Assalamu alaykum and hello,

"Arbab" is a term used in Persian. However, Persian has taken this word from Arabic.

"Arbab" is the plural of "rabb". It means "lords, masters, possessors". It is stated as being from Arabic.
    "Comprehensive Persian-English dictionary" by Steingass.

We also have "rabbi" in English, from Middle English "rabi", from Old French, from Late Latin "rabbii" master, from Greek "rhabbi", O my master, from Hebrew and Aramaic "rabbi" my master, and from "rbb" in Semitic roots.
    "American Heritage dictionary".

It's use as a surname by Pashtuns in British India probably happened because British introduced and formalized the concept of a surname whereas before not everybody had a standard one or even bothered to have one at all. Some people on the other hand took multiple surnames over time or changed them several times over their life. Passing down a single surname through family wasnt common in many places of the World until the 20th century.

For South Asian Muslims particularly places with historically heavy concentration of "low castes" like Punjab it has been noted that Dalits and other Hindu low castes tended to take up honorifics like 'Khan'
upon their conversion to Islam to replace their original Hindu names which identified the 'caste' they belonged to in the hopes that this would move them up the social ladder in some kind of desperate attempt to fabricate their ancestry as being linked to foreigners and not the Dalits and 'Shudras' that they truly are. But right up until the 'partition' of Bundjab these fabrications never worked and the so callled 'upper caste' Hindus of Punjab still treated these converted Dalit "Khans" as if they were still the same Dalit "Hindu" they originally were.

As a small example skip below to 8:00 mins to see what Bundjabi Hindu guy says and then skip to 8:55 mins and see what the old paki says about what life was like for Bundjabi Muslim in pre-partition Lawh0re:

what the Hindu man said at 08:00 ("the Hindus had curious inhibitions...") and Muslim guy said at 08:55... such Hindus would have treated Pashtuns, Afghans, Arab Muslims or white Europeans in the same way. They would not have allowed Pashtuns also to enter their houses, kitchens or touch them when eating and so on. This is because they had concept of "untouchablity". Muslims and whites to them are even lower than untouchables and Shudras.

Dude, it was their house so they can decide who they allow to enter into their house. It doesnt prove they were anything special. I mean, look at the puny Hindu guy at 08:00, he would s**t himself if the wrestlers at 08:55 were to slap him lol.

FOB: I still suspect you are some south Indian man, who looks half way like an Andaman Onge Islander. Own up now, you slimy miscreant.

A Dravidian talking about Andaman Islanders? LOL

What you got against harmless Andaman n!ggas from your islands? They're you're fellow citizens and people, not mine. Button your black lips up you ugly munchkin Jat.

Dravidian "Khans" think they're 'Persians' and 'Mughals' and 'Arabs' LOL but they are dark and smelly pakis that couldnt drink from the same water taps as Hindus in pre-'fartitioned' Bundjab even though all of you are the same smelly Dravidian brothers. What a sh!t culture you come from. Keep counting your lucky stars that the White 'saheebs' came and saved your black@sses from Dalistism and gave you a "Pakiland" to crap up on your own terms away from your Hindu father looking down on you for drinking from his tap!

Ps, Id rather be a Black n!gga than a black paki any day. Not even a contest. So try again, 'punjab'

Forward to 1:20mins. Look at how everyone erupts in laughter when he says the dirty word "Punjab" @ 1:35mins.

Look at your words lol. I thought Afghans and Baloch did not care about skin colors and appearance?

and FYI, we look down on, and consider inferior, the kind of Hindu that was talking in the video at 08:00. They couldnt really stop us from drinking at a tap if we had wanted to, but my ancestors didn't bother drinking from such a tap, otherwise puny Hindu like that guy at 08:00 would die from shock because as the guy said they had "curious inhibitions..", so we let them be happy with their inhibitions.

We don't; but we know how insecure Indics are about it and use it against them. And clearly by your reaction. It works!

Also, as economist Kaushik Basu says: "For a nation to progress it is important for people to spend time on science, mathematics and literature instead of spending time showing that 5,000 years ago their ancestors did science, mathematics and literature."

TidBit: The Indian(including and especially the Pakistani) Population is so huge and widespread that even the Arabs believe 'Khan=Pashtun'. It was so annoying explaining to my Arab friend, that it looked like he wanted to stab his ear and eye(he couldn't believe and still says 'Khan=Pashtun')

Ironically(or not) most of his Pashtun friends(mutual) have no 'Khan' in their names, but his Pakistani/Indian(non-Pashtuns) friends do for some weird reason(they're pushing for 'khan=pathan' bogus)

Also never use the '-ya' suffix. It is very rude, and you will be more likely hated(or even slapped/punched) by any Pashtun.

345 and زده کوونکی are the same person. They (killzai) are not Pashtun and most of what they say is just random lies.

Pakhtun 345 is not lying actually.

He said he is from Wardak - the Wardag accent is close to the one from Kurram (Zazai), Paktia and Khost, as well as Afridi. Do you know about Karlani dialects?

In those accents, "khkulay" / "shkulay" is pronounced as "khkulya" ("kshalye").

If you want to insult someone badly, you can call them a "spera bachaya"

                              Don't believe me?

This is not how the word is pronounced in the Zazai dialect. I doubt it's how it's pronounced in Kurram, etc. either, but I haven't been around people of those areas enough to know for sure.
