When you migrate and raise your family elsewhere you have to be prepared for the fact that a generation or two later they will have very little in common with their original ancestors.
    .
There are Pashtun enclaves in Indian occupied Kashmir who can still speak Pashto. They settled there during Durrani and Dogra periods.

A Sudhan author of Kashmir has published a new book about history of his tribe. The author has realized that claim of link with royal Saddozais does not make any sense as their supposed progenitor "Nawab Jasi Khan" does not exist in any genealogical table of the Saddozais and timelines do not match. So he has made a new claim in his book that Sudhans are actually Saddozai branch of Utmanzai Mandanr-Yousafzais. But the author is not acquainted with complex Pashtun genealogies and he has confused Utmanzai Yousafzais with Utman Khel Karalanries and Utmankhel karalnaries with Ghurghusties. To make sense of so large numbers of Sudhans, he has come up with a claim that Saddozai migrated to Kashmir during the times of Mahmud of Ghaznavi.

As early as 1834, British surveyors mention Sudhans as Muhial Brahmans. They have always been Muhial Brahmans until recent decades.....the giving up on Brahman identity might be due to anti-Hindu anti-India sentiments, Kashmir insurgency and Jihadism in Kashmir. After Soviet Union collapse, Pashtuns/Afghans were propagated as heroic invincible mujahideen and it made the Sudhans eager to link themselves with them.
you cease to be a Brahman when you leave Hinduism. just Hinduism is what our ancestors created in the land of Dasas after conquering it. even tho it's a largely currepted today, it still gives Vedas it's rightful place in the Dharma.

you can find sudhans into two different Brahman Tribes.
      1) mohyal Punjabi Brahmans
      2) dogra Poonchi Brhmans

in both tribes sudhans are seen as inferior Brahmins and i dont the reason. maybe Sudhans started claiming Afghan ancestry to go up in muslim caste system as Afghans re seen above indians in Islamic Caste system ? even large number of Punjabi semi nomadic tribes started claiming Rajput status during British Raj.

what inferiority complex ? if anything, we view ourselves as superior to our neighbors. maybe you are talking about Muslims but i have never seen any hindu claiming Afghan, Arab or Persian ancestry in my life. and i have traveled all over India thrice for months.

However he claimed to be a devout Muslim. What a strange strange world we live in.

I don't understand why people will argue to such great lengths about their Pashtun/Afghan lineage when clearly no effort whatsoever has been made by them to preserve it. It all boils down to the Desi mindset that Afghan and Pashtun are to be treated like some kind of caste, and that affiliation will carry merit and credibility.
we have same problem here, large numbers of nepali watchmen here claim brahman ancestry.

take our own "bahadur" for an example. he claimd that he is a nepali brahmin. and he have a villa in his village, 64 acre Land and 12 to 15 Cows, buffaloes and chicken. only reason he's working as watchman because people here ae nice and he want to keep our society clean.

after that i asked him what is your surname ? he said soni. he dont even know that sonis are Baniyas, there are no brahmins with soni surname in the world.

before that was a native guy who claimed Brahmin ancestry as well, but he had to admit that he was a harijan.

maybe people who wants to be part of elites do this kind of things, self haters in other words.

The fact that Sudhan Hindus existed and exist, they can not be of Afghan descent.

Sudhans are fakes and their claim should not be taken seriously. Saddozais, from which the early royals of Durranis sprung, was/is a very small clan while these Sudhans are very numerous. Malik Saddo (died in 1620 AD), the progenitor of the tribe was a supporter of Shah Abbas the great and one of his grandson Malik Hussein was lieutenant of Prince Aurangzeb in Multan. Aurangzeb frequently mentions him in his letters. The history of the Saddozais is recorded in a book by name of Tazkirat-ul-mulk written for Shah Shuja, no where in it settlements of Saddozais in Kashmir are mentioned. 20th century works on Saddozais are also available and Sudhans are not mentioned as part of the small tribe. As they were royal clan, so their genealogical tables and other details are well preserved.

By the way "Sudhozai" سدهو زئ is a funny invention by them......there is no ھ in Pashto
have u ever met any sudhan claiming saddozai status in pakistan ?

There is this hilarious "fact" among Indians who seriously believe Afghanistan was part of India until Arabs showed up and imposed Islam. Why you desis are so eager to claim Afghansitan for yourselves? I mean Paki and Indians alike are seeking our attention 24/7. Do you guys realize that we dont really care about you?

You are not dealing with a naive Westerner, buddy. We know very well each other.

Dear Indians and Pakis: Sudhans are not Pashtuns. Indians are not Pashtuns. Pakis are not Pashtuns. You guys are not Pashtuns. Be proud of your Desi identity. Pashtuns (at least, most of them) belong to the Aryan civilization. Aryan civilization is different from Desi civilization. A Pashtun from Kandahar has more in common with a Kurd from Erbil than with a Indian from Punjab. GET OVER IT, FOR GOD SAKE!

i dont about pakis (and sikhs )but i dont get it, why a hindu living in India want you to know that he or she lives here ? why do you think that you deserve a special status in our mind ?

i have ancestry from Kashmir, Haryana, western up and currently living in kathiyawar. trust me, we dont know what you are or care for you. you are as alien to us as an Arab.

There is no Islamic caste system. The caste system does not exist in Islam-zero, zilch, obsolete. NO CASTE SYSTEM IN ISLAM. No such thing as "Islamic caste system".

                        I hope that's clear.
