This is what the website dedicated to Abdul Hai Habibi says. It does not sow he ever attained a degree in anything or was qualified as a scholar of anything.Very strange.

    Education
Like other members of his family Habibi was absorbed in his studies from an early age. His education started in the mosques of Kandahar city. Afghanistan attained its independence from Britain in 1919 and it was during this period that schools were established in different parts of the country. Habibi joined the Shalamar primary school and at the age of 11 and at 15 was accepted as a teacher in the same primary school in Kandahar.

Beside his learning experience at school Habibi studied books which were left behind by his father. His father’s library contained collections of Seraj-al-Akhbar of Mahmud Tarzi and Calcutta’s Hub-ul-Mutayen newspaper.
From his youth he avidly studied the Masnavi (spiritual poetry) of Maulana Jalaluddin Balkhi, the divan of Khwaja Hafez and Saadi’s collection of poems, Gulistan and Bostan. During this time he took lessons in mathematics, Islamic studies, grammar, logic and the style of poetry writing from his elder cousin, Maulawi Abdul Wasa’e. His cousin was a keen scholar and versatile writer in his own right and a fiery orator. He participated in the writing of laws for the government of the time. When Habibullah, famous as Bacha-e Saqao (son of water carrier), took over the reigns of government in 1929, he executed Abdul Wasa’e by blowing him with a cannon. The late Maulawi Abdul Wasa’e had a short and precise method of teaching and within one year he was able to train Habibi in various subjects.

Habibi’s other teacher was Maulawi Abulwafa Kandahari, who taught at the Nezamia Madrassa of Dakan in India. This learned personality lived in the Habibi family mosque at the time. He was also a erudite and Habibi learned literary and writing skills from this cultured teacher.

At the time when Habibi was studying Euclidean sciences and Socrate’s philosophy he was also engaged in the study of sciences such as geography, biology, mathematics and physics. He also avidly read the Kawa, Iran Shahr, Armaghan and Al-Hellal literary journals.

Habibi continued with his studies when he started working and in his early career he learned English and Urdu and studied books in these languages. He mastered how to conduct historical research from Cambridge History of India, and by studying the works of Indian and Egyptian scholars such as Jarji Zaidan, Shebli Neghmani and Sayed Suleiman Nadwi, the Kawa journal of Berlin and the beneficial works of Mohammad Qazwini.

Bestowed with intelligence, a keen student of arts and sciences, and always on the lookout for knowledge, Abdul Hai adopted Habibi as his family name, which means progeny of Habibi and is linked to the name of his great grandfather, Habibullah Kandahari. Habibi became a versatile writer and keen scholar and wrote many books and several hundred articles and was considered an eminent researcher in the region.

I can imagine him being able to conduct proper research after reading all those books and journals. However, I wouldn't say his work is truly scholarly. unless, of course, if his work was reviewed by other scholars. Which I seriously doubt.

His work was reviewed by other scholars and scholars often criticized the merits of his work, especially with respects to Pata Khizana. This includes Pashtun scholars based in Peshawar.

remember we used to defend this stuff from the Tajik-Perso Nationalists like Tamim and Jahangir? Now I see they were probably right..

So pashtun tribes ally themselves with foreigners and they are looked upon as favorably, but God forbid Pakistan makes any outside alliances with US or China. Then Pakistanis are seen as slaves, beghairats, hindus, traitors. But If a Pashtun or his tribe allies themselves with outsiders, then no problem. LOL

Such hypocrisy. You guys on this forum are childish at best.

Another Punjabi with an inferiority complex.

Hates Hindus, but has his capital named after a Hindu "god"

              Lahore.

Hates Afghans but name all their missiles after Afghans.

Sucks up to Arabs but gets used by Arabs as cheap mercenaries and cannon fodder and then Arabs invest $75 billion in India.

              Call themselves "defenders of Islam"

Threaten to nuke 30 million Muslims of Afghanistan.

              NaPakistan to Afghanistan:

"Oh Afghans we revere you so much that we name all our missiles after your rulers. We are so ashamed of our Indic origins that we say we seek pride in attributing our ancestry to Arabs, Afghans, Persians and Turks. A few centuries ago we couldn't take on the Hindu Marathis and had to get Afghan ruler, Ahmed Shah Baba (rahmatullahi 'alaih) to save our asses.

By the way we still have 41 million people without toilets despite receiving billions and billions and billions from Arabs, Americans and China."
              lol

                  That's not true at all

For example you just linked a Google Book from a British writer named Alice Albinia to support the claim that Mahmud Ghazni's mother was Pashtana BUT that book is absolute sensationalist rubbish. Look at what she writes about Khushal Khan Khattak in Empires of the Indus.

“Alice Albinia is the most extraordinary traveler of her generation. . . . A journey of astonishing confidence and courage.”—Rory Stewart One of the largest rivers in the world, the Indus rises in the Tibetan mountains and flows west across northern India and south through Pakistan. It has been worshipped as a god, used as a tool of imperial expansion, and today is the cement of Pakistan’s fractious union. Alice Albinia follows the river upstream, through two thousand miles of geography and back to a time five thousand years ago when a string of sophisticated cities grew on its banks. “This turbulent history, entwined with a superlative travel narrative” (The Guardian) leads us from the ruins of elaborate metropolises, to the bitter divisions of today. Like Rory Stewart’s The Places In Between, Empires of the Indus is an engrossing personal journey and a deeply moving portrait of a river and its people.

It's not the fact that she makes allusions to the Sex Poetry that Khushal Khattak that's the problem; It's the fact she does so mainly through commentary than reference. Her book is littered with UN-Academic remarks/statements without having any valid support from primary sources. As you can see, what she wrote was more NARRATIVE and Commentary Than Facts. She's BRITISH but her writing is RUBBISH because it's not academically correct.

This is the same Shortcoming that exists in Abdul Hai Habibi's works; sometimes he wrote good stuff another time he writes COMPLETE crap; Because Primary sources do not support his commentary. He calls the "Lawik", "Loyak" to make their name sound more "Pashto". That's a very ACADEMICALLY DISHONEST tactic. He says Alptagin is a Hybrid Turkish-Pashto family because he can construe the "Tagin" part into "Tageen" which he suggests is Pashto. But the word AlpTagin is a Turkish word, unrelated to Pashto, meaning "Brave Prince". The word for Brave in Pashto is "Bator" and the closest Native Pashto word not influenced from Farsi or Arabic for Prince would be like "Masharzoi" or "Sashtanzoi". Like Alice Albinia; Habibi provides more COMMENTARY and NARRATIVE than primary source data.

People don't accept an Historian because of their nationality; they accept them because of their Academic Thoroughness; It just so happens because Modern Universities and Academic Organizations are in Wealthier parts of the world; have more academic resources and can perform more Thorough academic resources that More often the better quality scholarship will be produced there. But it has nothing to do with being British or French of Chinese. It has to do with Being Strong with the quality of data to support a claim.

I am Muslim Alhamdulilah, at least 19 generations Muslim, my "caste" in Bangladesh is called Khan Talukdar so we are allegedly (not sure if it's true, don't really care, I am Bengali) descendants of Pakhtuns.

I am a Muslim and not a Punjabi Alhamdulilah.

As a Muslim I will never insult anyones mother or sister.

As a Muslim I will never fall down to your low level.

It's obvious that you have left the kennel that is defence.pk and now using defence.pk style language on this forum.

However everyone on the internet knows that defence.pk is the Pakistani version of stormfront (white supremacist Neo-Nazi hate-site), with people regularly calling for nuclear bombing of Afghanistan, India and even Pakistan (yes defence.pk morons call for "Pakzameen", pure Pakistani land in the form of Waziristan to be nuked).

May Allah help my Pashtun brothers in Islam to continue the work of their ancestors and Islamize you Punjabis fully.

I will never insult anyone's mother or daughter, I will never behave like a Punjabi.
