Even Pakistans ISI had a major role in supporting Sikh rebels under the banner of the Khalistan Movement.

ISI general Nasir opened up a organisation that preserved the ancient Sikh ornaments in a mesuem while these same ISI worked to destroy Pashtun ornaments in the name of Idol Worshipping.

Your friend in Dubai could be right. Sikhs are Punjabis and they would/should get on very well with their Pakistani Muslim counterparts. That is mainly due to a common language. However, that is only true for Sikhs outside India. Sikhs in India hardly have anything in common with Pakistani Punjabis. many of them did receive ISI support during the Khalistan militancy but it died down pretty soon. Also many Sikhs in India still carry the wounds of '47 massacres at the hands of Muslim Punjabis, especially those that migrated from Pakistan Punjab during those turbulent times.

But again, would you let the above cloud your observation or judgement about Sikhs in general?

One of my greatest friends is actually a Sikh who is a Doctor from Pakhtunkhwa and he speaks fluent Pushto etc.

I have no hatred nor asking for any in return on Sikhs.

I find them very nice people especially the ones in the UK. I had another Sikh friend when I was in University and he never insulted me as these so called Muslim Punjabis who called me a Talib and a Terrorist becos of my long hair and at the time beard.

      Kind Regards

I haven't had the opportunity of meeting any afghan sikh but i have met many sikhs here in U.S. actually tow of my closest friends are sikhs that i have known for about 5 years now ...

Overall i have very positive image of sikhs... they are extremely hospitable people... just like pashtoons... a guest is served with utmost love and respect. sikhs are also very proud people like pashtoons and take pride in their history and especially during the british invasion and all the sacrifices for India.

I am fond of panjabi food... one of my favorit is dahi vadda... which i always ask my friend's mom to make for me when i visit her... and my sikh friends and their family just loveeee afghan food... they ask me to bring afghan rice and eggplant for them... banjan borani lol... which they actually know how to say the name...

I would also like to point out that sikhs are very beautiful people... especially the ladies... i remember attending my friends' weddings and I was stunned at their beauty.

afghans that i have met have positive image of sikhs.

And about Sikhs of Afghanistan, one of our closest family friends are Sikhs from Jalalabad and Laghman. Afghans in general might have problems regarding ethnicity but I can't remember I met any Afghan who has a problem with different religions in Afghanistan.

ive never met an afghan that would see an indian/desi as his equal or someone to look up to.

and since no one here can speak for every single afghan....its assumed that we;re all speaking for ourselves and from our own perspective based on our own experiences.

it seems like ive touched a nerve with you. i hope i didnt offend your indian uncle

Then I have got no idea what kind of people you meet who will compare his status with Indians and also inform you about it. And if someone doesn't look up to someone else then it doesn't mean he looks down upon that person. And to remind you; This thread is about Sikhs, not all Indians.

You stated 'Afghans look down upon Indians' and not 'Afghans I know look down upon Indians', so you basically weren't speaking just for yourself. There you go.

How typical to drag family into this because usually those who have been 'hit' themselves go to extend of dragging families into a discussion.

                1. youre right you have no idea what kind of people i meet. so your opinion is irrelevent. you followed up by saying most afghans are not like that. i could be a dork like you and try to jump on the semantics of that and ask for empirical evidence but its not that serious

                2. this thread is about sikhs. i only brought up indians as a comparison to differentiate between sikhs and other indians in terms of perception. if you had any sense of reading comprehension u would understand this

                3. youre emotional. its obvious you have some indian in your family from your emotional response

Then why you even bother replying at a 'irrelevant' person?

Nor is this thread which you are taking quiet seriously, I see.

Why would you bring in other Indians in a thread about Sikhs only? Its like promoting Persian culture in a Pukhtoon forum.

I am not emotional, you are frustrated which you now will obviously deny even after dragging families into this, plus calling names.

reading comprehension is not your forte.

khalsawarrior asked how to afghans view sikhs. i replied (from my own experience and perspectives) that while we generally dismiss indians we respect sikhs. because sikhs are indians but a differential is there

a similiar example would be...a pashtun asking an iranian forum how do they view pashtuns...and an iranian responding that while they tend to dismiss afghans they hold a special respect for pakhtuns...do you follow?

i dont sense frustration on my end. im smart tall and beautiful. online personalities could never frustrate a Khan saheb like me. i just find you and your hopping on the semantics of my thread a little annoying and promptly delivered a dismissal.

I completely understood your point, you mentioned Indians in general before talking about Sikhs and that's what I commented on because if you go around in Kabul and ask those people about Indians, then the last thing they will tell you is that they look down upon Indians; Fact.

That's the thing, we don't. Yes, there are always people who feel superior to other races but they definitely ain't majority. We indeed do make comments like 'Gharib kho Hinduwan di' and stuff, but then, is there any race we don't make a joke of? By the way, do you know why we use the term 'Jatt' for people we make fun of?

I do, I disagreed with your comment on Indians and that's what I commented on. I completely followed you even back then.

may be many members of this forum wont agree with me, historically we see sikhs no diffirent than their muslim panjbi bretheren. they have always sided the invaders. clturally the one living among us we dont see any diffirence, speak the same language as we do,hospitable.

indian panjabi dont exist as a state, they are minority themselves in india, historically during the british invasion they (muslim and sikh Panjabies)sided the british, while hindos and musllims were victimised. both panjabies(sikh and muslims) served british indian army in greatest numbers. both of the panjbies have the same agenda, luckily they are divided. i have nothing personal against them, i find sikh panjbies more friendly and with the great sense of humor.

Hindus were never victimized. In fact no one religious community was favored or victimized by the British. The British just played one against the other.

You need to re-check your history Afghan. Though they did constitute a substantial number of British troops, the Sikhs werent originally on the British side. They actually fought two major wars with them in the 1820s. It was after the demise of Ranjit Singh's empire that Sikh soldiers unemployed and without masters joined the British Army.

the british and sikh did signed the Amritsar treaty, ranjit singh was pretty much loyal to the british, then they also shared their common enemy afghans.
