But i do agree with Khushal to, because the taliban are on shaky grounds, they have the america on one side, afghanistan on the other. They need to be smart about it. But they need to forget about their own needs and first, find the real meaning of islam and what it means to be a true muslim. The taliban have made many mistakes while in power. If they really are the symbol for Islam in afghanistan, what are they afraid of. The fact that they share the homeland with us, it gives them MORE power to do good. People will actually listen, and a lot of good can happen if they don't threaten everybody with death for the smallest things and especially with no or little witnesses.
there are many groups that fly the Taliban flag.

Who exactly are the Afghan insurgents? Every suicide attack and kidnapping is usually attributed to "the Taliban." In reality, however, the insurgency is far from monolithic. There are the shadowy, kohl-eyed mullahs and head-bobbing religious students, of course, but there are also erudite university students, poor, illiterate farmers, and veteran anti-Soviet commanders. The movement is a mélange of nationalists, Islamists, and bandits that fall uneasily into three or four main factions. The factions themselves are made up of competing commanders with differing ideologies and strategies, who nonetheless agree on one essential goal: kicking out the foreigners.

Ok, there are members of taliban that are trying to stay true to the religion, but most of them are just trying to serve personal agendas. I agree, that with the taliban in power, crimes weren't as high among civilians as they are now. But only because they were using the same crimes to keep civilians in line. First of all, who gave them the right to carry out executions. Do you know how many people, women and men, were killed because they were ACCUSED of doing something wrong and they were not able to get any witnesses. That was a lot more common for women than men. Besides, their rules were a little too strict. Not being allowed to go into the street without a male escort, that wasn't even happening in the prophet's time. There is nothing that says anything about that in the Quran. There is so much that they did that was not haram as they made it seem to be.

I am not completely condoning the taliban. they had their goods and they had their bads. but they could have done sooooo much to do good in their country to make it a better place for ALL afghans, to unite everyone. but they didn't

Sources from what?! there is nothing written from that time because the taliban banned everything from reading to writing to singing in your home. The only way i can bring you sources and evidence is to ask people from 20 years ago when they were in power. And who will say anything publicly, since taliban still have power in certain places in afghanistan.

OK, maybe they didn't do any the executions, but tell me and be honest, everything the taliban did, was morally and islamically required?

And maybe that wasnt true 20 years ago, but it is definitely true now. There are taliban that do things that are against islam.

Everything you see is usually a reaction to something. Imagine your in Afghanistan in 1994 and you see warlords in various parts of the country doing as they please, raping, looting, killing, using children as sex slaves, a drug addict population. Warlords at war with each other with no regard for human life. The intellectuals have all either died or have fled the country.

What would a genius like you do?

Ok, this is different than what is happening now. At the time, that was the best option. The country needed stability and safety. And that is what the taliban offered. If you have that situation in today's times, there is more you can do.
And putting all the warlords in parliament isn't going to help anything because now they can do it and get away with it because everyone is the government is corrupt. We have all the raping and killing still going on.

exactly, this is the reason the Taliban have made a comeback.

is it the taliban or the government or america?

well you have to name specific attack because generally all sides are doing it. For example the madrassa in Chenagai village in Bajaur region in 2006 was bombed by US forces that killed 69 children. The majority of the news networks did not even report it.

I know america is bombing buildings like that. They have bombed women's weddings, schools, mosques. But the taliban are also bombing schools too. especially girls schools. They do tend to go to far when trying to do something in the name of Allah. I'm not saying america is right. It's is wrong in a lot of things that have happened in Afghanistan, but the afghans, weather its the government, the militia or the people, aren't doing anything to help the country. If we aren't going to credit the western world for anything, then we shouldn't blame them for everything either.
