Otherwise how is it that the Aryans only practiced it in India although their offshoots spread far and wide? But then again, I could be wrong. So please open a thread if you can and post links as well. Look forward to it.

A discussion on the proclaimed (mostly Pakistani) Brahman mentality of India is fit for another thread! If we start on it, we would go on in a different direction. And funnily enough, Pakistanis cant decide whether its India's Brahman or the Baniya mentality that they despise. I have heard both the names.

My Dear its not even close to Modern Day Iran. After Islamic period it was sometimes during shia kingdoms of Khawarizm and Safivads, Buywads, Al Khanates and Qajar. During sunni Era it was only during Nader Shah's time. Therefore I don't know of any recent account of Persian invasion, so how is it in modern day Iran?
My apologies Nick. I mixed up the origins of the Aryans with the origins of my tribe and community, the Jatts. Jatts are an Indo-Aryan-Scythian tribe and I have read about their origins near the Amu Darya. I was not only wrong about the flow and origins of the river Amu Darya but also its relevance wrt the people. Thanks for rectifying my mistake.

Afghanistan had many Civilizations and it does not mean they were Aryan or non-Aryan. The Fact that before 2002 a theory was developed and ended with the word "Complex" yes I am talking of BMAC. That included much of Afghanistan as far as Turkmenistan ie Arial Sea but aside from afghan border regions and city of Merv no prove was found outside Afghanistan, or outside boundaries of ancient Merv. Aside from BMAC we knew of no-civilization, but since then they found 3 civilizations and as many as 12,000 archealogical sites that dates back as far as from 2000 BCE-3500 BCE Let me know if you want details.
I have to read about BMAC. I cant say I am aware of it. Please post details, my friend.

My objective wasn't to belittle the Aryans before they came to the ISC (Indian sub-continent, its a rather long term!) or to project India as the only place of Aryan civilization. What I meant was to say that according to my knowledge, settling down, developing a culture, society and more importantly urbanization are seen as signs of a civilization. And I dont know if there were any earliest signs of the above characterstics before the Aryans came to India.

Which "River Banks" are you talking about? Sub-continent?
Yes. Mainly the Indus initially but later on moving further eastwards clearing out forests and into the Gangetic valley.
