Ghurids weren´t Turks. The Turks in their armies were their slaves. Captured from battlefields. Majority of Ghurid army were locals from Ghur and Herat, some from Samangan and Badghis and Bust, regions traditionally not Pashtuns. The author also writes the Ghurids did not speak Dari that was spoken at court but a dialect of Dari close to Sistani people. According to many sources Ghurids claimed being descendents from a figure of ancient Persian mythology. That figure´s name is Zahak and was a Devil and tyrrant from Mesopotamia (modern Irak) eating childrens´ brain. If this is true than they might have been an isolated enclave of Parthi people of northern Afghanistan. Jawzjani, this ''Persian'' writer who 100% was not a Pashtun is said have been from Ghurid family. The other thing is their administrations were from Herat and those Maliks married all into their families. Herat is not a traditional Afghan/Pashtun land. Yesterday I looked for some more links and sources about Ghurids and I came to one interesting source written 200years after Ghurids that Shir Shah Suri left his native land Ghur and moved to Afghanistan. The writer clearly mention the word Afghanistan (Land of Pashtuns) where he married the daughter of an Pashtun chief. PHI Persian Literature in Translation Here we can find alot information about Ghurids. Check all chapters, specially chapter 7. Ghurids couldn´t have been Pashtuns for many reasons. Maybe a related tribe like Pamiris but not Pashtuns

Oh and Pashtuns defiantly don't make up 2% of population in Ghor. Stop getting your information from Wikipedia.
Most western sources even the English authors that hated afghans claim Ghurids were pure afghan. We already talked about this before in another thread so shut your arse up Kabulzada.

well to me ghurids were neither persian nor pashtun because neither a persian nor a pashtun wud show such love to his slaves as he did. he considered his turkic army his children and i am sure that no persian would put a non persian as a commander or king of his empire after his death which clearly he did.
to me he was an outsider maybe not a turk but outsider maybe some mix up of turks persians or pashtuns LOL.

your personal feelings or opinion does not have any importance here. It´s what scholars cleared out with basic archeology and science on history, examining old sources and interpreted or translated them. For me, after reading all sources, they were from the same stock as modern Herati and Ghurid (Aimak people, too) and surrounding people are and therefore can be called as Tajokes. Before Turks took control of the region many of them were serving Arabs and Persians as slaves. The Samanzai tribe that created Samanid was the only Pashtun tribe that took Turkic slaves and called them their sons. It´s like the old Duranai administration. They ruled and we Ghilzis had to sacrify ourselves as soldiers for them.

Which sources? According to those western sources I have read they all say the Pashtun claim on Ghurids was based on Pashtun nationalism of Qaraman Abdul Hai Habibi and no records ever proved Ghurids as ''Afghans'' (i.e Pashtuns). Read that Link I provided to you.

there is no such thing as samanzai .samanids were persians and i have no doubt abt that ..
ghurids were not persian tajok whatever u r saying ..references are that they were persians but tajoks is just mentioned because they were eastern persian people acc to scholars.
and to be honest we shudnt speak anything about turks coz i think they have been the ones who have been the most succesful and ferocious rulers ..they have been slaves in some cases but then they made their rulers their slaves..every second dynasty was turk if we look at the history of all these regions..persians try to claim them by calling them turko persian(turks by ethnicty but persian by culture)
                      Turks kept persians their wazirs..

Pamiris??? Dude pamiris have always been an isolated people and haven't seen beyond the Amu darya. I'm going to end this once and for all, the Ghorids WERE Pashtun. History tells us that the rulers of Afghanistan have always been pashtun and every empire founded in Afghanistan was of Pashtun orgin. You're sick ways of deluding afghan history won't work here.

                          Try again khar.

Nick is actually a persianized Pashtun of the Ahmadzai tribe.
