He has a cousin named Zalmai who also looks a bit Turkic. I'm just scratching my head thinking what the hell is going on!
Because Ghilay went on a rampage in Turkistan and took their women as slaves. Thats why many ghilji and karlani have mongoloid features.

Plus kyrgyz and other turkic tribes settled in loy paktia and assimilated yo local culture.

Tarakay is a sub branch of Ghiljay. They are originally from Katawaz/Ghazni.

Amir Abdurrahman Khan massacred many Ghiljay tribesmen during the Ghiljay uprising against the Durani tyranny and cooperation with the British raj in India.

As a result, many defeated Ghiljay tribes were forced to relocate. This is why the Tokhay, Tarakay, Hotak and other branches were dispersed all across Afghanistan.

Today there are many Ghiljay tribes in Northern Afghanistan. Some of them are depashtunized. Especially the Tokhay from Kabul. They can barely speak Pashto or in some cases deny descending from Pashtuns.
Its actually Tarakai. the "AY" sound is like the hard "A" and it shold be the hard "I" sound.

Tarakai is a Khorati clan. The mongloid features also exist in Pashtuns that have intermariied with Mongloid Turks.

Ah yes, the good old "rape" theory. I guess it can be applied here since that's the only logical explanation left.

Ghilzai pashtuns for the most part, and this may be the same for Durrani, do not disclose the identity of their wife or wives to any outsider and do not consider them in their family sajaras. So in most cases most Pashtuns will not know their own maternal ancestry (or even ethnic affiliation) unless they do some really deep digging.

It's very possible they intermarried naturally; in some instances, poorer families will offer their daughter as a form of debt payment and that women will be one of many wives of a Pashtun lord. This makes it even harder to find out the truth if this wife will hide her true identity because her status among the wives is pretty low. Their children are never taught these things either and usually identify with their paternal ancestry. Had I not researched myself, I would not know anything about my own Jaghuri-Hazara ancestry from a great grandmother had not some of my relatives resembled Asians.

Through digging, I am 1/8th Hazara. I am 62.5% Ghilzai Pashtun, 25% Durrani, and 12.5% Jaghuri Hazara.

For me to find out this ancestry of one of my great grandmothers, I had to ask some of her direct maternal ancestors; because daughters know more about their grandmothers than did their sons. I found out she is from Zardalu village, although I'm not 100% sure if it is Zardalu village in Ghazni, or Zardalu village in Kandahar, where she was married. She is Jaghori, which leads to me suspect Ghazni.

It seems that the Ghilzai's are the only tribe that are okay with mixing with turks unlike other pashtun tribes who won't mix with Hazaras or uzbeks at any cost. I believe this is where the misconception of Ghilzai's being turks originated from.

Not entirely, no. I have one sister (1/8th admixture), one aunt (1/4th), and 3 uncles (1/4th) that do resemble Asians a lot more than the other relatives. It is not quite dominant. This great grandmother who was Jaghuri also had a daughter and this said daughter has no children bearing distinct Hazara features.

I would suspect that our great ancestors, the Saka, Kushan, and Aryans also intermixed with East Asians during the past 2,000 years of contact with them. This might explain why most Saka burials found in Siberia, the Gobi desert, and Mongolia had paternal Eurasian ancestry (usually R1a) and East Asian female ancestry. Thus, making the whole 'pure' Pashtun thing pretty much baseless.

Durranis have probably mixed more with Uzbeks, Hazaras, and Tajiks than Ghilzais. Mohammadzai were known for their like of Tajik and Uzbek women over their own Pashtun.

Perhaps you're right. In the past, Durranis were known to intermarry with indian women who were brought as slaves. One of Shah shujas wife was indian.

Its not a theory. Get it through your thick head. Pashtuns massacred both Hindus as well as Turks and persians.

Nomadic tribes through out history did this. Why do you think punjabis and parsis hate pashtuns?

All paktiawal tribes have non Pashtun maternal liniages. Some villages in Khost like in Dragai have large numbers of people who look like Dostum.

I don't know any punjabis that really hate pashtuns. As for tajiks, yeah they hate everyone around them, not only pashtuns. Also a lot of hazaras like pashtuns despite their bloody history. They have learned to leave the past behind and move on.

Here is a picture of Daud Akhund who is neither a Durrani, nor a Ghilzai yet he poses a few Turkic traits. I've posted a picture of him before on here.
