  • The pashtun ghilzai are not related khalaj turk

Some people here are trying to call pashtun ghilzai khalaj turk.
In reality pashtun ghilizais are ,,,gharzai,,a tribe originated from ghor or ghar province of afghanistan.
They are the most powerfull pashtunist tribe in afghanistan following the code of pashtunwali.
On the other side the duranis are more infuluenced by farsi landguage and culture.

so click on the link here and read more about khalaj turk. They are different people from pashtun gharzais

sori, lodhi, naizai and others are part of ghilzai tribe.

Actually lodhis and its branches like lohanis, niazis, suris, marwats, dotanis etc form its own confederation of tribes distinct from ghilzai confederation. Togather both ghilzai and lodhi are termed Matti tribes. Matti pashtuns are one of the three sections of pashtuns, the other are karlan and sarban.

The origin of khilji has always confused me , all history books say that they were turks but heavily afghanized. The other turks of india refused to accept them as proper turks as racially , culturally and linguistically they were not pure turks. I also agree that they are perhaps unrelated to ghilzai but they are certainly connected to pashtuns.

I feel like I need to make a whole new topic regarding myths and origins of Pashtuns. People here seem to have historical amnesia and seem to follow their own jingoistic understanding of a very complex and deep rooted topic.

Just three columns with member below. Durani, ghilji, other tribes.

            NO!

Ghilzai's are not Turks and afridis are not jews. Seriously can people stop with these stupid theories already? they were made and fabricated by the west to stir confusion among pashtuns. I bet you the tajiks are enjoying separation among pakhtuns.

Go for it. I myself have wondered about this too.

A line[Durrand line] of hatred that raised a wall between the two brothers -Hamid Karzai

For generations, the Hindus of India prayed for deliverance from "the venom of the cobra, the teeth of the tiger and the vengeance of the Afghan."

The men of Kábul and Khilj also went home; and whenever they were questioned about the Musulmáns of the Kohistán (the mountains), and how matters stood there, they said, "Don't call it Kohistán, but Afghánistán; for there is nothing there but Afgháns and disturbances." Thus it is clear that for this reason the people of the country call their home in their own language Afghánistán, and themselves Afgháns. The people of India call them Patán; but the reason for this is not known. But it occurs to me, that when, under the rule of Muhammadan sovereigns, Musulmáns first came to the city of Patná, and dwelt there, the people of India (for that reason) called them Patáns—but God knows!

One thing people need to understand is that Turks are mongloid and Ghilzai are not. There is the proof.

And that they originate from the hepthalites like other pashtuns tribes like the abdali's. There's another proof.

Are the taraki a pashtun tribe? i know this afghan guy and he and his family members carry last names like taraki but looking at their pictures on Facebook, most of them look Turkic. I asked if he was pashtun and he said no. This got me confused because Wikipedia says they are pashtun yet these people don't pashtun at all.

                          Does anyone know?

Its TarakAY and not Taraki. The ones calling themselves Taraki are persianized descendants of the original TarakAY tribe.

Tarakay is a sub branch of Ghiljay. They are originally from Katawaz/Ghazni.

Amir Abdurrahman Khan massacred many Ghiljay tribesmen during the Ghiljay uprising against the Durani tyranny and cooperation with the British raj in India.

As a result, many defeated Ghiljay tribes were forced to relocate. This is why the Tokhay, Tarakay, Hotak and other branches were dispersed all across Afghanistan.

Today there are many Ghiljay tribes in Northern Afghanistan. Some of them are depashtunized. Especially the Tokhay from Kabul. They can barely speak Pashto or in some cases deny descending from Pashtuns.

But that still leaves the question to why they look Turkic. His family don't look like other Ghilzai at all and to my dismay, one of his Facebook likes is afghan politican Asadullah Khalid who is a taraki Ghilzai. He has a cousin named Zalmai who also looks a bit Turkic. I'm just scratching my head thinking what the hell is going on!
