Mohmand wasn't the first man in space. By achievements he means pre AD and not modern. Also something that contributed to the world. I don't see war achievements as something to be proud of. Oh and Abdul qadir stole those nuclear blueprints from America while he was working as an engineer there.Originally posted by Aryan Sakazai View Post1. Sher Shah Suri is famous for good governance and novel administrative reforms that later Akbar the Mughal and British built upon. Sher Shah Suri reforms were based on the administrative innovations of another notable Pashtun Allauddin Khilji.
The currency Ruppiya launched by Sher Shah Suri has been adopted by most of the countries in the region from Pakistan to Indonesia.
Specially Sher Khan was not an angel (malak) but a king (malik). In six years he gave such stability to the structure (of the empire) that its foundations still survive. He had made India flourish in such a way that the king of Persia and Turan appreciate it, and have a desire to look at it. Hazrat Arsh Ashiyani (Akbar the great) followed his administrative manual (zawabit) for fifty years and did not discontinue them. In the same India due to able administration of the well wishers of the court, nothing is left except rabble and jungles...

1. All Pashtuns belong to a big extended Pashtun family and in most of the cases when speak Pashto feel like cousins and members of one family. For me 70 millions Pashtuns whether they live in Pakistan or Afghanistan, or any country of the world are cousens.
One day I asked in a conference in a European country that what can be the size of a family , some one told 10, some 100 , I said no. its 70 million . approximately the 70 millions Pashtuns are like one family and this you feel when you meet a Pashtun in a foreign country. Just his or her langauge or being Pashtun is enough identity for us and we receive him or her as our family member
2. Pashtuns generally are not suffering from inferiority complex, they `proudly present themselves as Pashtuns
3. In about 95% cases Pashtuns speak and are proud of their langauge Pashto. Few exceptional cases are Pashtuns specially muhammadzai in Kabul or Northern Afgahnsiatn who prefer speak Dari or few Pashtun tribes as in Hazara, Mian wali, Attock Paksitan forgot Pashto because of the linguistic and cultrual invasion of the neighbouring people.
Here i am talking of speaking and listening. Pashtuns are very bad when we talk of writing and reading Pashto. They seldom write and read Pashto. Its an important negative aspect of Pashtuns that they dont read or write their language.
4. Almost all Pashtuns have maintained their blood line and genealogy. Its almost a pure race. The Pashtuns are the world's largest (patriarchal) segmental lineage ethnic group
5. Pashtuns are generally brave, confident, hard working people living with values, traditions, mores, and honour. Although bravery of Pashtuns is proverbial but this bravery must be practiced with intelligence, tact, and farsightedness otherwise the same bravery can become belligerence , stubbornness, contentiousness, hostility, militancy, , pugnaciousness and truculence which don't remain any more a positive characteristic of a person, group or nation.
6. Pashtuns hospitality is proverbial. they are very friendly people But this may not become excessive and may not let ourselves to be used by others and the hospitality of Taliban may not reach to the extent that their guest Osama become their cause of destruction and the camel ousted the owner of the camp.

1. Their tenacity, perseverance, cunning, and adaptability against super power level foreign invaders is legendary and the achievements against them can not be listed in only five examples!
Through fighting them, using them, and also matching and incorporating their skills (Ghaznawi, Afshari, Abdur Rahman Khan, Mujahideen, Ghori) not only militarily, but also culturally (ie, Persians, Arabs, and Turks) and creating their own armies that halted other armies from invading or taking control further into the region (Mughals, Safavis, Marathas, Sikhs, British, Bolsheviks, Soviet Union, Persians).
These achievements make their neighbors and opponents both revere and dread them. Winston Churchill mentioned that among Pashtuns, 'every man is a warrior.'
Other notable traits and achievements:
2. Modernization and Extension of the Grand Trunk Road (Sher Shah Suri) that still stands today.
3. Pashto becoming one of the first 5 languages to be spoken in space. (Again tied to the main achievement of Afghans utilizing the skills of their neighbors)
4. Pashtuns have the largest tribal confederation in the entire world making it difficult for foreigners to grasp and control the approximately 350-400 Pashtun tribes. Their tribal confederation is bigger than the Sikhs and Arabs.
5. Pashto is also the largest Eastern Iranian language in the world with approximately 50 million speakers, if not more and comprise the 2nd largest Iranian language in the world.
Other related notoriety and/or achievements that Pashtuns have attained or accomplished for good or bad of world history (not in any order):
1. Guerilla warfare (helped lead to the fall of the Soviet Union)
2. Long range sniper rifle (British Wars)
3. Weapons manufacturing (Ghorids, Jezail, AK-47, etc)
4. Became President of a former British Colony (Ayub Khan)
5. Highest Ranking Muslim in US Government (Zalmai Khalilzad)
6. Cinema (South Asian - Bollywood)
7. Rabab (classical musical instrument)
8. Helped kill Osama Bin laden (Dr. Shakil Afridi)
9. Helped spread nuclear weapons technology (AQ Khan)
10. Religious Fundamentalism (Taliban, Roshiniyah)
11. Helped connect East and West Australia (Afghan Cameleers)
12. Helped establish Islam in South America (ie. Guyana's first Imam and helped in the Rose Hall uprising)
13. Decimation and/or defeat of entire British & Indian units during Anglo-Afghan Wars
14. Largest loss to the special ops Navy Seal Unit (Seal Team 6 in Maidan-Wardak)
15. World's largest producer of Opium
16. Built first Mosque in Australia (Central Adelaide Mosque)
I could go on, but I'll stop there. Also left out are achievements by those who would be considered ancestors of Pashtuns (Aryans, Hun, Turkic, and Indo-Iranian).Last edited by Midnight_Sun; 03-17-2013, 02:43 PM.

5) Khudai Khidmatgari movement."If a nation expects to be ignorant and free, in a state of civilization, it expects what never was and never will be".
"Knowledge will forever govern ignorance; and a people who mean to be their own governors must arm themselves with the power which knowledge gives".

The first grand assembly also known in pashto as "Loya Jirga" was first established in 1st century AD by the Kushans who were the ancestors of the Pashtuns and is still practiced to this day by Pashtuns.
It is believed to be the first political grand assembly in the world.
The first Sanskirt grammarian Pāṇini, who was from Gandhara (modern day Charsada district in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa) is believed to be Pashtun. He has made a vast contribution to the Sanskirt grammar, which includes a lot of words in today's Pashto.Last edited by Kushan Prince; 03-16-2013, 04:52 AM."Revenge is a dish best served cold".
