Did I ever say that just because MRS won some victories against Pashtuns, all Pashtuns are lower being than Punjabis? I just view these things as historical events that have little or no bearing on current dynamics. It doesnt matter to me if MRS won or lost. I am just posting what I have accumulated over the years.

They were sort of savage people which would not obey any rule. From time to time the Punjabi forces from Lahore were sent there to put them down. Each time they would offer some tribute and then again revolt. To totally take control of these areas Maharaja Ranjit Singh give command to Hari Singh Nalua.

1. Ahmed Shah was an Afghan who rode into Punjab, hence he would be an invader.
2. MRS was a Punjabi who was ousting Ahmed Shah's governors from his homeland of Punjab. Hence he was a liberator/hero to us Punjabis.

Now bear in mind two things -
1. These views are from a Punjabi perspective
2. An Afghan might see ASB's adventures into Punjab as only normal and only a small part of what he did to unify the various Afghans and forge an Afghan identity.

Now both these views can be conflicting but can be backed up depending on who you are. That is totally upto you. But the most important part is to view these events as just historical events and nothing else. And not to look at them with contemporary parameters.

Yes, indeed. He did liberate us Sikhs. Just that in the process he killed a lot many of us and desecrated our Mecca, the Harmandir Sahib twice, to lower morale and teach the Sikhs a lesson. But in the end, Sikhs were happy that he came to rescue us.

I will tell you what your problem is. You don't like history that seems negative about you or your people. You are still thinking of history as "us vs them" and getting worked up over it. That is where you falter.
