I have no problem with that, any Afghan with a common sense would not have a problem with that term.
Btw I have no problem if we try to use Indo-Aryan too after all it was this land Afghanistan called Ariana.

I have had debates on facebook with people who used the term Iranian on Afghan pages, mostly because most of the members are not good at history and would think of current Iran.

Kaisa can you please elaborate on how pashto is not an Indo-iranian language. This subject have always confused me.

He doesn't mean that it's not, he says that we can use Indo-Afghan instead of the terms Indo-Iranian.

Arabs were pagans, so wouldn't the concept of praying to one god that wasn't an idol make them confused?

          Lemar,

You usually get hard when something tries to pin Pashtuns with Caucasians/Aryans.
No, in fact it's a perfectly logical notion. Try going back in time and explaining to someone what a computer is. You see, it makes no sense. However, the idea of one God makes perfect sense to arabs of the past, because they prayed through their idols to one God. In other words, they still had a supreme God who controlled the lesser gods, so thus the notion of having "lesser gods" was shed, because it was shown to them by Prophet Muhammad that it made no sense.

On the other hand, try going back in time and begin explaining to them what atoms are. You see, Atoms and the notion of one God are irrelevant to one another.

Yea, the notion of one god for the Arabs sure made the job for Muhammad (PBUH) an easy task. Like he wasn't blacklisted, exiled and went to war.

That was only because they knew that the notion of one God was true, but they wouldn't accept it because it was against their customs and ways. Pashtuns are in many ways similar to the Qureish when it comes to accepting new ways that go against their traditions.

However, you must note that the idea of ATOMS is a theory and not fact. If God were to reveal anything about science in the Quran, he wouldn't have put in theories. On the other hand, if Atoms are factual and do exist within particles then we must note that 1. They don't know what Particles are. 2. Matter has no meaning whatsoever back then, and so on.

So you must now teach them science from back then to the 21st century, IN ORDER for them to comprehend the notion of Atoms.

I'm sure Prophet Muhammad SAW didn't have time for that .

Arabs knew of Allah, before Muhammad(saw), the name 'Abd Allah i.e. servant of Allah was a common name, Allah (swt) was the "Absolute" deity, but the Mushrikeen i.e. Pagan Arabs committed "shirk" which means associating partners with Allah(swt), by saying Allah(swt) delineates his affairs to lesser deities to pray to for intercession.

The word Shirk comes from "sharaka" which means to separate/divide, like Daybreak is called "Shurouk" in Arabic.

Please stop being a total moron and EDUCATE yourself on the language of Islam. It really is crucial because when you understand the meanings correctly you get insights into what is actually indicated by most of the translations you get

I'm just asking, because from what I've read back then even if "atom" was mentioned in the Quran the Arabs would not understand the word, and thus I don't see why God would bring down Atom into an Ayah to a group of people who would not understand it. It's like trying to explain rocket science to cavemen.

To be fair, the word "dharrah" used in the Qur'an Al-Sharif more literally means Ant's eggs, which are microscopic particle-like dots, which, depending on the species of ants is very hard to detect.

So while the root word does refer to Ant's eggs, it also refers to things so small that they cannot be observed. now using this term to describe the nature of matter itself is what atom really refers to is another matter. But Classical Arabic Dictionaries compare objects as being composed of such and such number of "Dharrat" or possessing the weight of "such and such # of dharrat", which means that some type of concept of atom did exist then.

Furthermore even if we suppose that the Qur'an did not intend to be directed towards the people of that time.

"Do not the unbelievers see that the heavens and the earth were joined together, then we clove them asunder " (Qur'an 21:30)

now this could in theory be referring to Unbelievers of any time or society, even modern society. There's no reason it is directed exclusively to the Pagan Arabs alone.

Yes, I agree with you. The Quran is a book for all ages and times, and so that is why I believe God would bring down a book for pagan arabs and humans in the 21st century to understand. We shouldn't interpret the Quran based on it's translation, because every translation is worded differently. The best thing to do is either learn the Arabic language, or read many translations in order for you to get the general idea.

Or we could just learn to write and read Pushto, a language that has been overpowered by the influence of Arabs and Persian.

^ Or we can just not read the Qoran and begin to think for ourselves and use our brains to figure out what is good and what is bad.

Just a little correction for my brother .
Shirk means to add one or more gods with Allah , it is written as
                              شرك

Shurouk (sunrise) is a different word with different roots and is not written with "kaf" it's:
                              شروق

I am sure the 30,000 years of mankinds existance before the Quran, bibles and Torahs came into being shows mankind can still live on with the same purposes which are, shelter, food, and raise children.

Not everyone has the same purpose of life as a Muslim such as you, the purpose of life is different to each individual.

My purpose of life, is to create a democractic socialistic Afghanistan whereby women are free, education is taught regardless of gender and development of the country is made most important.

In my humble view, the teaching of Pashto both writing and language wise, is more important to me than Quranic/Islamic studies.

Adapting both aspects of West and East into one system is more important to me then sticking with Desert laws that prevent progression.
