  • Neamatullah has given detailed genealogical accounts of several Pashtun tribes, tracing their descent from Qais Abdul Rasheed, who himself is said to have sprung from the line of Jacob (Israel) in his Tarikh-i-Khan-i-Jahani wa Makhzan-i-Afghani (AH 1021/ 1612 CE). Completed at Burhanpur, it gives an account of the Afghans, particularly the Lodis and the Surs. Naematullah writes:

…Khaled sent a letter to the Afghans who had settled in the mountainous countries around Ghor ever since the time of the expulsion of the Israelites by Bokhtnasser, and informed them of the appearance of the last of the Prophets. When this letter reached them, several of their chiefs departed from Medina; the mightiest of them, and of the Afghan people, was Kais, whose pedigree ascends in a series of thirty-seven degrees to Talut, of forty-five to Ibrahim…

Naematullah was the first historian to present a systematic genealogical table of Pashtuns from Israel/Jacob. Less than ten years before the compilation of Tarikh-e-Khan-e-Jahani, another scholar Akhund Darwiza had declared the Pashtuns to be Israelites in his Tadhkirat al-Abrar (an account of his adventures in Afghan territories) in 1611 CE.

Even before the political rise of Afghans Kingdom, Hamidullah Mustawfi had speculated that they were most likely Israelites in his monumental work Tarikh-e-Guzeedah (AH 730/1326 CE), as stated by Neamatullah. This is a general historical account dedicated to Khwaja Ghiyasuddin Muhammad, son and successor of Rashiduddin Fazlullah, and deals with the Mongols of Persia (modern Iran) and modern Trans-Oxiana.

Sheikh Mali of the Yusufzai tribe wrote in Pushto a book on the Israelite descent of the Pashtuns between AH 816/1409 CE and AH 828/1412 CE. Another work in Pushto on the same subject is ascribed to Khan Kaju, written in circa AH 900/1493 CE. Upon these two works were based Tarikh-e-Hafiz Rahmat and Khulasat al-Ansab of Hafiz Rahmat Khan. Minhaj-i-Siraj Jurjari, who had close contact with the Ghurids and held posts of qazi (qadi), khatib, sadr-i-jahan and principal of the Nasiriya Madrassa, wrote in his Tabaqat-i-Nasiri (1259-60 CE), “In the time of the Shansbani dynasty there were people called Bani Israel living in Ghor,” and that “some of them were extensively engaged in trade with the neighbouring countries.” Tabaqat-i-Nasiri is an encyclopaedic history from the patriarchs and prophets, viz., Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, to the time of Nasiruddin Mahmud. It is an invaluable source of information for the history of the early Turkish sultans and their maliks and amirs. Abu Sulayman Daud’s Rauza-ul-Bab Twarikh-ul-Akbar-wal-Ansab (The Garden of the Learned in the History of Great Men and Genealogies) (AH 717/1310 CE) is considered the earliest work on the subject of the Israelite origin of Afridi/Pathans.

Again, "In the ninth year of Hoshea, the king of Assyria took Samaria, and carried ...Israel away unto Assyria, and placed them in Halah, and in Habor, on the river of Gozan, and in the cities of the Medes." (Melachim 2 16:6) on the river of Gozan! http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Amu_Darya defines - Hebrew: גּוֹזָן, Gozan. Historians tell us that one of the most ancient names for the Oxus or Amu in ancient Afghanistan was Gozan. And were brought into Halah (modern day Balkh), and Habor (which is Pesh Habor or Peshawar), and Hara (which is Herat). http://www.sccs.swarthmore.edu/users...Amu_Darya.html In ancient Afghanistan, the river was also called Gozan, descriptions of which can be found in the book "The Kingdom of Afghanistan: a historical sketch By George Passman Tate" So through references grounded in history and fact we come to modern day Afghanistan.

"Also the tribal name are similar to the Sons of Jacob. Yusufzai -Children of Yosef; Afridi - Ephrayim; Rabbani - Reuven; Shinwari - Shim'on; Lewani - Levi, Daftani - Naphtali, Gaji/Gadoon - Gad; Mushahar - Manasseh; Abdali - Naphtali; Zamand - Zebulon; and Ashurai - Asher"

And so I'll review, Midieval Persian texts written by Muslim scholars refer to the Israelite origin of Pashtuns, who mainly inhabit the hill country from the eastern spurs of the Safed Koh to the borders of the Peshawar district in Pakistan. A number of Pathan historians subscribe to the theory of the Israelite origin of the Afghans. The first among them to trace the genealogy to Israel was Khwaja Neamatullah. Malik Ahmad, entitled Khan Jahan Lodi, asked his secretary Khwaja Neamatullah Harawi to compile a complete account of the history of Pashtuns. Neamatullah sent five historians, viz., Qutb Khan, Sarmast Khan Abdali, Hamza Khan, Umar Khan Kakarr and Zarif Khan, to the Tribal territories in AH 1030/1621 CE to investigate the descent of Afghans. This eventually led to the compilation of Mirat-al-Afghani, according to which Afghans/Pashtuns/Pathans are Israelites.

"thus saith the Jehovah God: Behold, here am I, and I will search for My sheep, and seek them out. As a shepherd seeketh out his flock in the day that he is among his sheep that are separated, so will I seek out My sheep; and I will deliver them out of all places whither they have been scattered in the day of clouds and thick darkness. And I will bring them out from the peoples, and gather them from the countries, and will bring them into their own land; and I will feed them upon the mountains of Israel, by the streams, and in all the habitable places of the country. I will feed them in a good pasture, and upon the high mountains of Israel shall their fold be; there shall they lie down in a good fold, and in a fat pasture shall they feed upon the mountains of Israel." (Yechezchial 33:11-15) Save your brethren.

Its the Arabs themselves. It is the Arabs who have kept them locked up in refugee camps in Lebanon, Syria, Egypt among other places. It is the Arabs who will not allow Palestinians to hold citizenship or own land! You keep them as political pawns! Shame on the Arab world!

After 1948 and the Arab Nations drove over 900,000 Jews from their midst, Israel took in well over 2/3 of them and treated them as brothers! You the Arab nation forced the Palestinian to live in terrible conditions so you could continue the war on Israel.

Forgive my bluntness but you seem to be confused with the religion of Pashtuns and the history, i myself dont see the pashtuns as decendents from the Jews, the story of how the pashtuns are the lost tribe of Israel from King Saul is just a theory and not proven, weras the Aryan theory of pashtuns seem more likely. we are a unique people that have nothing in common with Jews.
I disagree with we pashtuns do circumstances on the 8 day ma all bros were circumstance on the day we do fast all muslim does and yeah u right about we dont drink wins but we eat meat as long is halal

Then you've got some next culture mixed with your own, maybe you are infact a Israeli type of Pashtun (they do exist) they were Jews that fled and migrated to the Pashtun region and adapted into the Pashtuns by learning the local language and adopting a new faith over time but still keeping most of their original customs - eventually blended it in. But if your talking about a Pashtun that's ancestors came from the same region and no Jewish intermingling (which is most of the Pashtuns given the DNA research that has been made to prove that there is no Israelite blood in the majority of the surveys) then nope there isn't any evidence documentation or anything that Jews/Israelites cropped up in the nowaday Pashtun homelands..an event like that would have defiantly had some sort of record.

                    • You can find similarities in many cultures, people all around the world share customs from far away lands which have nothing to do with them historically or genetically, it's just one of those things. Although with Pashtuns the origins are a mix of different empires that controlled the native regions at different times through history and moulded as one race in the end sharing a common language and culture borrowed from one another such as Kushans, Pactyans some even say Sythians were in the region at one point.. and then there was also nomadic warrior nations like the Hephtalites that came in and established themselves settled and mixed in. In the end you have Pashtuns which are diverse people as a result of the races creation. Light, dark, short, tall we have em all.

Some people are trying very hard to make a connection between Israeli Jews and Pashtuns.

There are cultural connections between every group of people. That's because people were conquered or just took the language of their overlords.

The Pashtuns are not descendants of Semites. A lot of Israeli Jews are not also.

We actually are from the lost tribe of israel and how do u know we are not sematic?
And even if we are not sematic doesnt mean we are not related 2 ancient israelities and why we have israelities cutoms and names and lot other similarties? i believe we are

I write to you from Israel and I hear rumors that we might be brothers. I have read much material, heard interviews from witnesses, Jews who used to live in Afgahnistan that the Pashtun seem to share many laws and ways that we Jews hold.

I hear that you keep the Sabbath (on Saturday), that you do circumcision on the eighth day and that you will not eat meat slaughtered by Muslims, but you will eat meat slaughtered by yourselves or Jews in accordance with the law of Moses. In addition I understand you even have fringes on the four corners of your garments and will swear in the name of Moses when accused of a crime.

It seems if this is true that we are brothers, and you were exiled from Israel 2600 years ago by the evil king Sancherev.

Please let me know if there is any validity to these rumors.

                                Thank you
