I'm a Kakar from Kandahar. The Kakar tribe has been around in that area, prior to the religion of Islam coming over there. So it could be easily understood how there are non-muslim Kakar's. Or even the fact that, there were wars happening and people wanting more land, so it could be that lots of Kakar's were in armies and the Indians or any other race because under the rule of the Kakar's. Thus, taking in their surname/ or associating with their tribal lineage. Those are my random theories about my ancestors.
"Do not lose hope in adversity and complain that God singled you out for punishment, remitting others guilty of worse sins. Your present state could very well be His intent to elevate your spiritual station. Or He could just be testing your faith. Everyday that you persevere, you grow closer to perfection. Thus, your present despair may be the beginning of an infinite blessing". - Shaykh Abdul Qadir Jilani.

Kakars are very forward thinking and wonderful people. They have a deep felt loyalties to the city of Kandahar and led military contingents under Ahmad Shah himself. They native origin, being so close to where we sprang up from makes it highly unlikely that any single one of them left behind a hindu lineage. Occasionally, in regions where the Pashtoons ruled/conquered the locals would take up the name of the contingent that ruled over it.
