Khalsa perhapse you missed the point of this thread were i mentioned:

"maybe here we will be able to share our sources and refrences as to the likelyhood of the Kushans etc"

    AND

"i made this thread were likeminded people can provide solid evidence. although most of what iv wrote can be refrenced from a reliable pashtun historian by the name of Prof. Abdul Hai Habibi, i use his books and writings for my source which may have more credibility than the ones written by non-pashtuns with lots of language and cultural obstacles."

Incase you didnt notice i am looking for refrences and sources which is the whole point of starting this thread beacuse i dont have any solid evidence that i can quote (although i have come accross some which i need to back track).

    thanks

      Khalsa,

In case you're wondering who Abdul Hai Habibi is and his credentials/objectivity, please do google “Puta Khazana authenticity Abdul Hai Habibi.” You'll get your answer.

Manzereh, I was genuinely curious about your sources, since many of your historical assertions are ”interesting” and "unique" to say the least, but now that you proclaim Habibi is your source, it all makes perfect sense, I got my answer. Thanks.

No problem Khidr , i never said Habibi is my source i said he's one of them (berring in mind that Habibi has COMPILED his work from other reliable historians) which is why i read into his books. im not gullable as most people to hear about the authenticity of the "puta khazana" and let it deter me away, also the "pata khazana" aside, a great amount of his work has been confirmed by numerous historians

            Nick

Sorry but your first theory is wrong.
Nick bro yo dont need to say sorry. finally, it's not my theory.

The theory behind the Dari word Degan has been creation of pan-Iranism, however no historic reference, despite its inaccuracy like always firstly it was published by Iranica, to candidate Degan=Farmers and Farmers= natives which turns into a Qwam.
I agree with you on some points. Perhaps you've heard of Nasser Pourpirar the famous iranian historian? Once he said that the whole history of Iran, afghanistan and india is a creation of british india east company(jewish). He believes that that Purim was a genocide against indigenous civilised Iranians committed by the Achaemenid Shah Darius I and his Jewish allies.

He claims that "after the great genocide committed by Jews in Purim, the land of Iran was completely wiped out of human beings until the beginning of Islam. He claims that construction of Persepolis was never finished and the Achaemenid dynasty whom he considers as a group of ancient barbarian Slavic(saka) invaders ended with Darius the Great, after they returned to their homeland in Eurasian steppes.

Nasser Pourpirar - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Wrong Degan simply means Farmers in Dari not in Persian/Parsi/Farsi. In fact the more proper word from Persian prospective is Keshawarz.
No my friend you're wrong. From a linguistic point of view, Scholars recognize 3 major dialect divisions of Parsi(farsi).
1.Parsi/farsi, or the Persian is spoken Iran.
2.Dari-parsi or parsi-dari is spoken in Afghanistan.
3.Tajiki, a variant spoken in Tajikistan in Central Asia. Now I'm sure you will come with the thises of ustad habibi that dari is the mother of parsi. With all due respect to ustad habibi, he was a great historian but not a linguist.
The word Dari refers to the language that is popularly known as Persi.
You can consider Dari as a dialect of parsi but not as a separate language.

            conclusion.
Parsi, Parso, farsi, dari, tajiki, these different names have been synonymously in use throughout history and refer to the same one language.

Back to the term degan. dehgan, deqan, keshawarz, barzigar, khestmand, khestkar, these words are all synonyms for the words farmer and villager.
Here are some references regarding to the term deqan, kheshawarz and degan. I hope you can read parsi.

            ferdausi says.
ز ایران و از ترک و از تازیان

نه دهقان نه ترک و نه تازی بود
            سخنها به کردار بازی بود
            .

here he mentioned the tazi, turk and deqan race.

            کشاورز و دهقان سپاهی شدند
            دلیران سزاوار شاهی شدند.

            2. Again Dahe is one of many caste groups of India as well does that mean they are Saka? After all Saka's never had caste system like Persians or Indics but rather tribal like people ie such as Avghans/Rajputs/Abrahamics/Ethiopians/Alanics/Germanics/.
As far as we all know, the history of the scythian(sakas) people is ancient and much of it is not fully researched. It's possible, but there is not enough evidence to be sure. Accordding to some Y-chrosome DNA studies from india, some of the nortehrn indian tribes are descendants of haplogroup R1a1.
As for the persian, herodotus says.

The Persian nation contains a number of tribes, and the ones which Cyrus assembled and persuaded to revolt were the Pasargadae, Maraphii, and Maspii, upon which all the other tribes are dependent. Of these, the Pasargadae are the most distinguished; they contain the clan of the Achaemenids from which spring the Perseid kings. Other tribes are the Panthialaei, Derusiaei, Germanii, all of which are attached to the soil, the remainder -the Dahae, Mardi, Dropici, Sagarti, being nomadic.

            herodotus Histories 1.125

I still don't know How could Deha came to be Degan or DeQans, which translates into Farmers but as far as my knowledge in Slavic languages "Dahe" means Nomads.
I think its a pure east iranian term(aryanic). before Arabians influence on parsi/dari it was pronounced as degan/dihgan. here is an interedting arcticle reagarding the Dahe tribe.

The authenticity of pata khazana is not anymore questioned. Magda Katona, confirmed the authenticity of pata khazana in an article, published in Magyar Nemzet Magazin of Budapest in Hungary, November 22, 2003.

              Pata Khazana in 2003
On November 22, 2003, an article on Pata Khazana by Magda Katona appeared in Magyar Nemzet Magazin of Budapest in Hungary. The author states that a manuscript of Pata Khazana is preseved in the Armin Vambery Collection of the Library of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences. It was obtained by Armin Vambery in 1859 A.D. from Yakub Khan of Herat.
Armin Vambery - a Hungarian Orientalist and traveler - was born in 1832. After initial education he acquired some twenty Oriental languages and dialects. He visited Teheran, Mecca, and spent several months with dervishes in rough and squalid travel through the deserts of Asia. He succeeded in maintaining his disguise, and on arriving at Khiva went safely through two audiences of the Khan. Passing Bokhara, they reached Samarkand, where the Emir, whose suspicions were aroused, kept him in audience for a full half-hour; but he stood the test so well that the Emir was not only pleased with "Reshid Effendi" (Vambery's assumed name), but gave him handsome presents. He then reluctantly turned back by way of Herat, where he took leave of the dervishes. In Heart he met Yakub Khan, who gave me a manuscript of Pata Khazana. After that Armin Vambery returned with a caravan to Teheran, and subsequently, in March 1864, through Trebizond and Erzerum to Constantinople.

LOL we say panj ham panj peshi Sab-e panj ham Panj. Don't worry I am far aware of how many dialects and languages burst from misguided western linguistics. so try to not bring Iranian Shia crap into this. You don't seem to understand what I meant, now do me a favor find an educated Iranian and ask them What Degan means. Plez don't ask an average Iranian cause they are gonna be like "I don't speak Gibberish" Where an educated Iranian might try to get the meaning "Deh" such as the word "Dehaadi" so they are going to guess. I don't know any other way to explain this but in Iranian tongue (Parsi,Farsi,Persian, Irani, Whatever you wanna call it) Degan is not used but rather Khesawarz. And if you think Iranians recognize a Nejat like Ferdowsi lol a Race exist on the planet earth called "Degan" LOL don't bother reading any further and don't bother replying either.

First of all over the years of being in the Cyber world I have seen enough lies from Ghalis and Shiais/Qazalbash/Islmailis/Setamis etc. There were some dozen Made up Bul**** like these ones, typed in Arabic, English, and Persian. Now I want a source that I can relay on. Please No Wikipedia nor Iranica. LOL wikipedia there are 8 million idiots out there changing that **** right as we speak. However if you believe in Wikipedia you must have a good reason to do so but never assume guys like me who seen it grow up under by fingertips. Where as first I still remember 87 articles LOL and last time I check in 2006 it was 2.5 million articles. Now I am not sure but I would assume it maybe over 5 million articles. Anyways getting old for my age. Just to let you know I have many Books and believe me quotes like these won't miss my eyes. Specially if I am a Farsiwan looking for Identity, other than word "Tajik".

So These Quotes need sources, please see if you can change someone mind like mine, whose theories and ideas as well as politics and articles are all over Internet. I sure am proud of defeating Ghalis and Shias, and if they got you good luck with the unwinable fight, since beneath these fairy-tales are nothing but lies and propaganda. Perhaps I shell re-post my anti-Iranian articles and one of my major and simple argument regarding "Persian" has still left Pan-Iranisam down to the Hole. So be kind with us and provide a source, please don't worry about getting the book cause where I live its Iranian books can easily be found specially older and famous books.

                ferdausi says.

                .

First of all lets read what it says
"z Iran wa az Turk, wa Az Tazian, Nejat Paded Hayad han dar Meyan, na Degan na Turk wa na Tazi Bood, Suokan-ha ba Kerdar bazi bood."

From Iran and from Turk, and from Tazian, came fort a Race in between, which was nor Degan, nor Turk, and nor Tazi, the rest of the tales/stories in reality were just a joke.
                So

                کشاورز و دهقان سپاهی شدند
                دلیران سزاوار شاهی شدند.
                فردوسی

"Keshawarz wa Degan sepay shodand, Delar han sazoawari shahi shodand"

Farmers became soldiers, a country was resulted/created from their bravery"
Notice how idiotically two words from different dialects are mixed LOL Seems like Pan-Iranians can fool people that even during Ferdowsi there was 3 dialects Dari, Tajiki and Persian LOL and so Ferdoswi uses both words Khesawarz and Degan to make same meaning.

Yes I see Some Dude just pulled out Turk and Degan and Tazi, very easy made up but what about this part "Suokan-ha ba Kerdar bazi bood" it doesn't fit into idea of a new "Nejat" or Race. Which according to Ferdowsi something well made up for the lost Persians looking for Identity, since Azari,Turk or Sherazi, Luri, or Tehrani a title to all of them is "Persian" getting us back to "What is Persian" who is Persian" these words above seems to fits well for Iran, but Hello Afghanistan has always had a tribal society, where such Ideas would make no sense, perhaps a little but we still have tribes often married within tribes, a tribe foreign to the areas of geographical Afghanistan, often resulted in war, and major clashes inter-marriages with them doesn't often occur, specially with those who have physical facial feature far from Middle Eastern Caucasian. Such as Pure Turk ie Mongolian/ or northern Althaic race.

Iran today could be said to be Mixed Turk, (Native) Degan if by Pan-Iraniasm definition Degan means native, and Tazi those of Arabic mixed Degans/unknown. So Here Today fans Pan-Iranism of Younger Iranian generations believes they are a new Race which is not native, Turk, nor Arab but rather Pure Iranian. After all from the times of Darius up to today Iran never had local tribalism, nor practiced of such system, if any it was and has always been Caste until the time of Islam. But for a country like Afghanistan where 70% still have some sort of tribalism practice, and tribalism dates so deep for thousands of years that even modern Islamic tribal names are still in sequence matching with tribal groups 1000 to 3000 years older than the history of Islam in Afghanistan. Indeed shocking but not surprising for those who are aware of tribalism and history.

I really don't care about the rest of quests cause they are like generalized, yes I know by definition Degan in my mother tongue means Farmer, perhaps farmers are those who work harder in the the land than the warriors and therefore ownership has been given to them. And to Persians it means little other than Khesawar, again from Iran or India where Kisan in mythical believe are the owners of the Lands where they work on, Farmer=Degan=Kisan=Khesawarz. And since I am a big fan of Ferdowsi I would love to know where this Wikipedia **** comes from first.

Yeah we Afghans still remember a passport created for Jamaludin al Afghani. LOL

I agree with you on some points. Perhaps you've heard of Nasser Pourpirar the famous iranian historian? Nasser Pourpirar - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
As far as History of Afghanistan is concerned yes 99.98% of what we see in the western world from 1839-1964 was purely Western, while Afghans continued to fix their dirty scam/mistakes, so Western BS was less by comparison to 1980, however political internal conflicts and Russian invasion has left afghanistan with Western BS that we seen in their Media/Books from 1990s-2004. There are alot of things need to be fixed. However as far as Iran is concerned from beginning of their creation up to end of Shah, Iran was the only open-arm Allies of the Western powers in the Middle east. So much of the modern crap has been exaggerated in support of Iranians.

BTW the case of Purim has its own side of the story. The native Iranians before Archeamanids were the Dravidian people. And their history is very old and much detailed. However since they are somewhat Semitic related and Dravidian in tongue has left many confused, therefore the Iranian do not take any pride from that era but rather from their 2500 years old Arianian history. This is only if you have enough knowledge to go Beyond the sources and study those tribes who initially came to Iran the Medes 3000 years ago, is what we know as Magdhian. Perhaps I shell say Nasser is somewhat right.

Well i'll start off with my input.

The mass land from Soghdia (today's tadjikistan) to Indus were inhabited by the Pashtuns with the avesta/old pashtu (with some derivitives such as pamiri and nuristani) the main language who pushed out the first time by the turkic Uzbeks during the 5th century A.C. Uzbeks made an alliance with Sassanids of Persia to defeat the Yeptalites/Abdalites and were able to defeat the yeptalites and kick them out of Soghdia for ever. So from this historic event we know that turkic people for the first time put their steps in the iranic lands a few decades before the islamic conquest.

It appears from the writings from one of the ruins in Ghazni that Yeptalites and their decentants, the Kabul Shahan, spoke Pashtu. While we know that Yeptalites were one of the tribes of kushan confederation who rebelled and defeated the weakening kushan kings with that said kushans were pashtu speakers themselves and therefore, the Gandahara civilization is a pashtun civilization.

NOTE: from the ruins of the kushanic temples, it appears they used to communicate in both Latin (legacy of Macedonians in Paktra) and a language very close to today's Pashtu.

So in conclusion, for me the Kushans are of Pashtun origin who for the first time in the history of world had two cities of Kapisa/Kabul and Peshawar as their capitals to adjust the politics according to their semi-nomadic nature.
Do you have any sources to back this up. i thought kabul shahan spoke sanskrit.

The tribe Abdali might be derived from Hephthalite. Hapthali (Hepthalite) --> Abthali --> Abdali.

Its a popular notion, but might not be correct at all. Abdali is definitely named after 'Abdal', the saintly order. Some Pashtun names were Islamized after conversions, Isapzais into Yousafzais, and Awdali into Abdali. There are still many people who refer to Abdali as Awdali. British traveler of 19th century to Kafiristan noted that people there refer to all of Musalmans as Awdalis.....based on this , a historian speculated that Malik Awdal or Abdal, a chief of all Afghans swept through lands of Kafirs, who were then settled in central and eastern Afghanistan. A great deal of research is needed to determine why Kafirs (nowadays Nuristanis) were using word "Awdali" for Muslims.

Pashtuns are most probably human debris of Ancient Iranians, Scythians, hepthalities, Kushans, Ghorids, Khaljis etc

Pashtuns are mix of Indian, Aryan and Turkic tribes.

Who is this saintly order "Abdal"?

Yousafzai isn't an Arabized/Islamicized version of Isapzai. The term has Arab origins. It means "son of Yousaf" and is a post-Islamic name.

"Isap" is just how Pashtuns pronounce Yousaf similar to how they pronounce Ismail as "Smel".

Its actually Tajiks who have great deal of Turko-Mongol and Indian blood in them. Kabul and eastern Afghanistan were once inhabited by Tajiks or Tajik-like and the area was ruled by Hindu Kabul Shahis from India. Tajiks of these parts were Buddhists and Hindus. Pashtuns started expanding towards Kabul, Nangrahar, Kunar etc only after Mahmud Ghaznavi times.

Though compared to Indian admixture, Mongol contribution to genes of Tajiks is very large. Mongols didnt penetrate to hills of Roh where Pashtun tribes were settled, but they brought heavy devastation upon Tajiks or Tajik-like people. Tajik women were captured and kept as slaves and wives by Mongols, their progeny is known as Hazara. Another such similiar breed is Aimaq and Timuri. Tajiks of central Asia even shows chinky Mongoloid phenotype. One can say that when Mongols raped ancient inhabitants of Northern Afghanistan and persians, todays Tajiks came into being.

Pashtun themselves claim to be descendants of a person of 7th century, which might not be incorrect at all for they have very solid lineage trees like Arab tribes. Tajiks on the other hand, dont have pedigrees.....

Nice fairy tail. Khilij were originally a Turkic tribe. That means that the main Pashtun tribe is Turkic. Therefore most of Pashtuns are Turkic.

Don't be ashamed of your Turkic roots. Racism is disgusting.

Tabqat-i-nasiri and Tarikh-Feroz Shahi shows that Khiljis were not Turks. Khaljis, as evident from Tarikh-Feroz Shahi, were not chinky-eyed, big-headed, short-legged Mongols, they were handsome race. Why should i be ashamed of the possible connection between Ghilzais and Khaljis?. Khiljis were royalty of India and have ruled entire India , in addition they ruled Malwa in 15th century.
