Pashtuns have this image of a warrior people that have stood throughout history for their liberty/freedom and have been admired for their dignity and self-respect even by their adversaries (see Rudyard Kippling, etc.). Moreover, despite their small numbers, they have played a significant role in the history of Central and South Asia. This coupled with the fair-skin fetish (Desi i.e., Paki people are very conscious of it although you would seldom find Pashtuns talking about it) leaves a ping of jealousy in Desis.

There are other factors involved as well. Almost every Desi (in particular Punjabis and Karachites ) looks for some foreign root and would link himself to Arab, Pashtun, Persian, etc. Desis don't take much pride in their history and want to disown their Indian past. The consciouness of they being Indians while Pashtuns non-Indians adds to their jealousy (although Indian Civilization is one of the great civilizations in existance today and one should feel pride in belonging to it).

Then there is also politics e.g., Pashtuns have a strong sense of identity. The problem for the Desi cultural elite is how to make Pashtuns feel low about their culture and so make them amenable to integrate into the Paki cultural mould. The same is also the case with Sikhs in India who are considered to be resistant to integration into the Indian identity and who therefore are at the receiving end of a political conflict.

But guys, why don't you take into consideration the steroetypes Pashtuns have of others, which they have maintained throughout history e.g., that the Desis are kind of low people not strong, upright, or steadfast, etc. and overly pacifistic, subservient, etc. (the views warrior people usually hold of non-warrior people) .

Nevertheless, one thing that I will like to mention is that despite Pashtuns fought wars throughout their recorded history while Desis bowed to every master either coming from south or north, they have a pretty good level of education and skill almost matching Desis. Isn't it a big achievement.

Last I agree with Tor Khan that we, Pashtuns sholud have our own image of ourselves and should not look at ourselves through foreign goggles.
    well said toramana

Anyways, I just read the previous posts by Ghaznavi, and was pretty disgusted. That is no way to speak of any women -"dispatching." How would you like it if someone talk about a close female relative like that?

i suggest you pursue relations with imtiyaaz by some other means. now that is something i can laugh at. or may be not. i don't consider ****ing around with other people's honor something to laugh about.

My sympathy goes out to Imtiaz Be-Ghakhuna, his new wife is going to be a difficult one

pretty good insight. I would have said this myself but would feel silly pointing it out, but yeah I feel that Desis do feel inferior to us so they try to make us feel inferior. The same goes for all other races who talk of us. They are always trying to put us down due to their own insecurities about themselves.

If someone were to utter such loose words about the peghla of my qowm, then I would do what I always do in matters such as this

I would gather an assortment of the rowdiest jezail slingers this side of Sultan Mahmuds tomb, and chase the useless tribe of those who offend me across the Indus, so his descendents may live for generations amongst inferior Brown people with the knowledge that his family has been banished from the land of eagles for fighting like a seagull

Do all pashtun guys from toronto talk like this about women? ^^^^^

Ghairat is self honor too, not only the honor of your family, but if a man is overly promiscuous and can not control himself, then a man like that has no ghairaat.

The Amir al Ghaznavi is a gracious and merciful man. Do not let his warriors frame and angelic face decieve you.

Thus, I warn you zoya to refrain from further verbal incitement. I will have you know the Warriors Jirga has been convened for after the Makham Munz.

We could be discussing the marriage of one of your clans peghlas to me to settle this matter, or we could be discussing how many Jawans to raise for the Arbakai

                The choice is yours

So you expect us to applaud your online PF performance of the Amir-I am sure you amused yourself with your character.....

                      But you know mister-

Many people come to this forum to actually exchange intelligent commentary, which does not mean we have no humor, but it takes a bit of maturity to know which roles to take and which ones to leave in the gutter-

Once again I stand corrected. Knowing when someone is joking and when not, is something I find hard to read.
