  • Pashtun female Singers and actresses

Does anyone consider this to be an acceptable profession for our women ? What is that woman was from your family? What would you do?

  • #2
I say we need more females in this industry -- and I mean well-educated females who have respect for themselves and other Pukhtuns; I'm not speaking of people like Nazia Iqbal or those girls you see dancing so cheaply in many videos.

I would actually like to go into singing myself in the future, but I'll have to find time for that somehow.

Oh, and we also need our female singers/musicians to actually play some instruments. I mean, don't they typically ONLY sing? Why? Whereas we see our respected male singers (Takar, Khalid Malik, Gulzar Alam, etc.) not just singing but also playing some instrument(s) simultaneously. Our women, however, seem to be more interested in fixing their hair or showing it off or putting too much make-up on or something. Hell, move on! Focus on the more significant reasons of music, damnit.

How can a woman ( or a man) be self respecting and a singer at the same time?

Singing evolves usually around worldly matters such as lust and desires for people of other sex ( in same cases of same sex).

      It is purely for entertainment.

How can a self respecting human being invest their time and effort to entertain people?

Especially in backward and primitive communities where women already suffer from a bad image and low social status?

Why shouldn't the self respecting women become useful individuals by investing their time and effort in something that is beneficial? Why not study sciences? Why not become mothers?

Why should women use their voice to entertain men and women when they could use their voice to teach children to read?

As a peminist, I assumed you would be against exploitation of women as objects and cheap entertainers.

Music is rarely beneficial (more entertainment) and if by singing you can put some good message across, well its not for our women to do that..they can help people in other ways apart from singing....

        It should be discouraged

So then, why are men watching it?

If you dont want to think about your sister, mother, female cousin doing that, why the hell do you even watch it?

Nearly all concerts - maybe not classical music like Shajarian - but almost all types especially of Western music or performance that is not very deeply based on folklore/culture - are teeming with all sorts of horrible spirits in the air.
It's good to avoid at all costs, doesn't matter who the performers are.
The exception would be uplifting performances which make a country feel great about its heritage. As a result, not needing to kowtow to Western standards of behavior, but seeking to go back to the country's own historic roots.
I see this as a big problem today: the rush to blend in with the West, which makes other countries feel bad about themselves and only OK when they act "western".

i wouldn't mind a haroon bacha in my family. there are artists and then the entertainers. i have no respect for the later.

I am no bird, and no nest ensnares me.

non commercial would cost less if he was in charge himself which he plans on doing. right now it's n herat but soon it will be in qanadahar.

i told you already. i don't have any tolerance for some one who entertains others but i do appreciate art. there is a difference but i don't necessarily expect you to understand that. i have a parent who was a newscaster 20 years ago for many many years.

The only answer to all of your above-asked questions lies in THINKING. If you just so much as thought for a while, you'd get your answers.

Think. And study too. And don't limit yourself to what you study. Take everything as if they've a lot to offer to you... and broaden your mind.

Our women are too precious to be wasted on cheap and temporary entertainment. What use is she as a singer or actress, when she can advance in other areas of education; where she can be of more benefit to the world, her people, while holding on to her dignity. We should encourage our women to make use of their minds, not of their looks/bodies and rhythmic voices.

Looking at the current situation of Pashtuns, yes we may need people in media, but entertainment is one of the last few places we should concentrate on right now.

i would not mind the great voice of zarsanga. still most of the pashto singers are comercialized have no selfrespect , would do or sing anything or money.
