This isn't even worth the discussion. Its common sense that education is the key to success. Both women and men deserve education. These kind of topics are giving the Pashtun world a negative image.
Even Adobe Photoshop can't change me.

A line[Durrand line] of hatred that raised a wall between the two brothers -Hamid Karzai

For generations, the Hindus of India prayed for deliverance from "the venom of the cobra, the teeth of the tiger and the vengeance of the Afghan."

The men of Kábul and Khilj also went home; and whenever they were questioned about the Musulmáns of the Kohistán (the mountains), and how matters stood there, they said, "Don't call it Kohistán, but Afghánistán; for there is nothing there but Afgháns and disturbances." Thus it is clear that for this reason the people of the country call their home in their own language Afghánistán, and themselves Afgháns. The people of India call them Patán; but the reason for this is not known. But it occurs to me, that when, under the rule of Muhammadan sovereigns, Musulmáns first came to the city of Patná, and dwelt there, the people of India (for that reason) called them Patáns—but God knows!

      -Ferishta, 1560–1620

But at least Samin informed us that 99% men want women who wear high heels while doing household chores.I consider it a very useful piece of infomation, quite pertinent to my future

Firstly, welcome to Pashtun Forums. If I may be so bold to say that I don't agree with many of the things you are saying, and that many on your part need reassessing.

Today, when the majority of the world's population ridicule our state, look down upon us, and devise ways to combat our shortcomings, we retaliate with anger and violence where the ultimate result is loss on either end. Today, when people are changing, political parties are in the process of constant change, systems of government seek new ways to accomodate innovations and the like, I wonder why some people are still behind in such backward ideologies. You advance your argument on moral grounds, whereas someone else, might assume these are the teachings of Islam. When cultural ideologies clash with religious law, you can expect a lot of ignorance from people. We follow the law of God, and that teaches us the education is compulsory for every individual from cradle to the grave. And mind you, women are considered individuals in this context. You may have seen a few women whose lives and household has been shattered because of her absence due to work and other commitments, which is possible, I am not saying you are wrong. Rather I like to believe that the majority of women, who enter the workforce, are capable of maintaining both ends of their world because of that same education they have been fortunate to gain. If men's education just sends them more backward, then it my sight, that education is not worth two cents. There are many reasons for this, and the main one is the fact that many men lke to get away with the ill treatment of their wives at their very own hands. Many like to turn a blind eye on their rights and responsibilities towards her which are more far reaching than physical pleasures. In reality, a man who can't bear the educated women is only a weak minded, unstable and fearful individual who likes to maintain the upperhand in his relationship and use it to his advantage, because hey, the woman doesn't have a brain, she will never speak up, she has been brought to believe his words are like the word of God (taubah).

If I can give a woman two cents of my thinking, it would be to tell them to come out of the ignorant ways that have been shoved down your throats all your lives that tell you are an object and have no worth and should spend your youth in waiting for a empowering husband to enter our life and take over its sweetness because of an unjust and corrupt hierarchy we have created for ourselves. I would tell a woman to educate herself of hr rights, so that one day when her time comes she is not blindly following the cave-like thinking of those around her. I would tell a woman to forget the way of thinking which says once you enter your husbands home you are his property and you have to forget or disregard or detach yourself from anything you were involved in in the past and adopt a whole new identity. It doesn't work that way, because that same man married you for your individuality, your differences, your identity, and to be united with him should not mean you put everything behind, take on his name and nonsense. When you educate a man, you educate one person. When you educate a woman, you're educating humanity. So be careful what you teach her. Ignorance and submissive behaviours are long gone. Broaden our horizons.

My mor jaan is not educated but she is so proud and thankful that all of her daughter's are. Samin I think you are afraid of any woman who can think for herself. We are human beings not pets.

Our women should be given some education and a chance to use that education in a positive manner and to be kept in a safe environment while they do that...along wid good upbringing inshallah our women will not be at a disadvantage.

This is not to say all educated women will be the perfect role model or a better person than someone who is not as educated...but it provides them a chance

I was not intending to post a single serious reply but you just made me recall all those thousands of women who came from Afghanistan to Pekhawar due to Afghan War, and just because of the little education of their daughters/wives/mothers, they were able to make a living for themselves and survived somehow in horrible conditions. You don't know anything about the value of education to women in general and Pashtaney in specific. Who are you to decide whether they should work or not? Career is not always for fun, unfortunately; for most of the pashtun women it is a necessity. Also, for our present generation of Pashtaney, it has become more important because our parents realized the importance of education for their daughters and future generations.Someone asked Napoleon about the greatest need of France. He said “Motherland’s National progress is impossible without trained and educated mothers.” What's the use of having half ignorant population? How will you compete with the developed world?

Just earning a degree (education) does not make any difference. You have to go out and make a positive difference. I despise those women who earn higher degrees and sit at home especially those of richer families. The illetrate women need them because they can't afford education. Imagine a woman from a village not receiving medical aid due to the absence of female doctor in her locality. This is not some figment of my imagination but happens on daily basis in our area.

A woman with a power of education can serve in a university as a teacher and lack of it could lead her to a brothel or any other form of exploitation by men.

I know from our medical college in Peshawar that majority of the women do not continue to practice medicine even if their parents allow them to. They just sit at home and are content wid being housewives. So they waste the chance of other women who wanna make a difference in their community by being doctors.

That's true. Many of my doctors friends (from KMC e.g.) are not practicing after graduation and most of the time they say that their husbands do not want them to practice, or their husbands do not allow them to go to far-flung areas, or that they are not simply interested in pursuing their careers themselves. More than waste of degree for social service, I despise it for the reason that they waste valuable seats in medical schools for other deserving students.
