Would you suggest grouping all of North Balochistan with Kandahar or just the Quetta district?Originally posted by torkham View PostFurther to AK's suggestion, there are provinces of influence and then there are proper administrative provinces
So Loya Kandahar would include Kandahar, Oruzgan and Quetta. I dare to suggest Helmand but Helmand is an influential entity by itself.
Similarly some loyan say Loya Paktia has historically influenced KuRma (Kurram 'agency').
The next area is Paktika, which has ties otherside of Birmal in Waziristan.Last edited by Sarbani; 04-14-2018, 06:31 PM.

Some Indians claim it was Hindustan or Bharat (I don't know exact name) all the way to Kandahar . . . and they refer to their "Mahabarat" (lol sounds like Arabian secret service) where some name are are connected (by Indians) to current places and tribes in Afghanistan.
Without academic references I will say it is a classic case of people writing their own history, interpreting and embellishing.

So, it was never called whyte India? Because i found it on wiki. It also said kandaharis were zoroastrians and that's what i find weird. I mean, why would a region filled with mostly zoroastrians(if we where that, because on the same wiki page it said mostly kandaharis were zoroastrians, so it could be historically incorrect too. Yes, i'm frm kandahar, that's why i'm interested in this topic) be called white india by greeks? You could be right though.
But you're onto something. I don't get why kandahar is linked to hindus and rest of the eastern parts of pahstunistan and kalashi areas aren't, except for kandahar and ghandara sounding like each other?(but then again, wiki said that ghandara isn't located in kandahar anyway)Last edited by jama0112; 04-16-2018, 04:57 PM.

With guidance from Samandri, I updated the list of provinces/historocultural regions of United Pashtunkhwa and created a map to simplify the picture.
Copy-pasting his list:
1- Peshawar (Mardan, Nowshera, Charsadda, Swabi and Peshawar) .Peshawar was a province of Durrani empire and it was a district of kabul subah of Mughals. It was a province under Sikhs.
2- Swat (Swat, Buner, Dir, Malakhand, Shangla, Batagram and Torghar) .This region was not part of Durrani empire and was also completely independent during Mughal period. Sikhs also never entered into this region.
3- Bangash (Kohat, Karak, Hangu, Orakzai, Khyber and Kurram) . Bangash was originally not the name of a tribe. There was a region by name of Bangash or Bangashat and some of the tribes in that region were later collectively called Bangash. The tribes of this region were followers of Pir Roshan and his successors.
4- Bannu (Lakki Marwat, Bannu, North Waziristan, Mahsud belt and Isa Khel). Mughals briefly ruled this region from 1695 to 1704 AD. They made Bannu their headquarters. Durranis managed the region through Khans of Isa Khel.
5- Daman (Tank, Dera Ismael Khan and Wazir portion of South Waziristan)
6- Kandahar (Kandahar , Quetta, Qilla Abdullah, Qilla Saifullah, Zhob and Sherani)
7- Thal-Chotiali (Loralai, Ziarat, Musa Khel and Harnai)
8- Zabul or Ghaznin (Ghazni, Zabul and Paktika)
9- Gardez (Khost and Paktiya)
10- Jalalabad or Nangarhar (Nangarhar and Mohmand Agency)
11- Bajaur (Bajaur agency and Kunar).
12- Farmul (Kabul, Wardak and Logar)
13- Laghman
14 - Seistan (Helmand and Nimruz)
