  • Pashtunistan Provinces?

Lets say all the Pashtun regions unite into a country. How would you divide them into provinces?

The division I'm making are only in regards to Pashtun majority regions as that's what I want the focus of the discussion to be on. In case its not obvious, the bold represents the province and the bullet points represent the modern day districts the province will be comprised of. I tried to keep the sizes of the provinces consistent. I don't think it would make sense for one province to be 5x larger than another.

    Here is my suggestion:

    Peshawar
    • Dir
    • Swat
    • Buner
    • Malakand
    • Peshawar
    • Mardan
    • Swabi
    • Charsadda
    • Nowshar
    • Bajaur
    • Mohmand
    • Shangla
    • Western Hazara
    • Khyber

    Paktya
    • Paktia
    • Paktika
    • Khost
    • Kurram

    Hangu
    • Hangu
    • Kohat
    • Karak
    • Bannu
    • Lakki Marwat
    • Dera Ismail Khan
    • Tank
    • Waziristan
    • Orakzai

    Kabul
    • Kabul
    • Nangarhar
    • Kunar
    • Laghman
    • Kapisa
    • Parwan

    Ghazni
    • Ghazni
    • Wardak

    Zabul
    • Zabol
    • Oruzgan

    Kandahar
    • Kandahar

    Helmand
    • Helmand

    Farah
    • Farah

    Nimruz
    • Nimruz

    Quetta
    • Quetta
    • Pishin
    • Ziarat
    • Loralai
    • Qila Saifullah
    • Musa Khel
    • Zhob

I'll admit that my suggested provinces may not be that informed but I just wanted to get the ball rolling on this topic. There were some stuff I wasn't sure on (e.g. whether Swat should be separate from Peshawar or not). Suggest any corrections or feel free to make your own suggested list. If someone has enough patience, they can create a map where they color in the provinces so we have a good scale of them. I'm planning on doing that later.

I would have Kandahar and Quetta under the same province.
Even Adobe Photoshop can't change me.

A line[Durrand line] of hatred that raised a wall between the two brothers -Hamid Karzai

For generations, the Hindus of India prayed for deliverance from "the venom of the cobra, the teeth of the tiger and the vengeance of the Afghan."

The men of Kábul and Khilj also went home; and whenever they were questioned about the Musulmáns of the Kohistán (the mountains), and how matters stood there, they said, "Don't call it Kohistán, but Afghánistán; for there is nothing there but Afgháns and disturbances." Thus it is clear that for this reason the people of the country call their home in their own language Afghánistán, and themselves Afgháns. The people of India call them Patán; but the reason for this is not known. But it occurs to me, that when, under the rule of Muhammadan sovereigns, Musulmáns first came to the city of Patná, and dwelt there, the people of India (for that reason) called them Patáns—but God knows!

I would add baghlan to Kabul. If you want to keep an eye on your Tajik brethren then make Kunduz as an exclave :D (Of course if you don't add baghlan to Kabul).

Then the Kandahar province would be too big. Quetta is a big populated city with its own rich historical sentiment and could be the capital of its own large Quetta province. This seems more sensible given the size and population of the other provinces.

It would make more sense to make Nimruz and Helmand part of the Kandahar province. I had considered that option but wasn't sure if I should do that. The provinces aren't that populated so it wouldn't be too far fetched, but then the province would look too big. So I just left those alone.

Just a question: What relationship does Kandahar has with Helmand?
I'm asking, because both of my cousins from their mother's side originates from Helmand and Helmand is a neighbor province to kandahar.

Generally the non-Pashtun regions of Afghanistan are included in Loy Afghanistan maps, so we aren't thinking of about abandoning you guys :p I just wanted to focus this thread on the Pashtun majority regions.

Look up "Loy Kandahar". Kandahar, Helmand, Nimruz, and South Pashtunkhwa ("North Balochistan") all have some cultural similarities specific to that region.

Kunar, Laghman, and Nangrahar have more in common with the northern parts of FATA than they do with Kabul. They should either be joined to the Peshawar province or become their own province. Khost should joined with Waziristan. Logar should be added to the Wardak province. Khyber should definitely be included in the Peshawar province. You should split off Waziristan and maybe have it form a seperate provice with Kurram. Orakzai should probably be included in the Hangu province.

Khost is considered part of Loya Paktia so I'm not sure about removing Khost. Maybe I could add Waziristan to Loya Paktia?

Could you make your own list (at least for a few provinces? Curious to what it'd look like.

Further to AK's suggestion, there are provinces of influence and then there are proper administrative provinces

So Loya Kandahar would include Kandahar, Oruzgan and Quetta. I dare to suggest Helmand but Helmand is an influential entity by itself.

Similarly some loyan say Loya Paktia has historically influenced KuRma (Kurram 'agency').

The next area is Paktika, which has ties otherside of Birmal in Waziristan.
