How is the relationship between Pakistani and Afghan Pashtuns in the west?

I have noticed that as well. A lot of them work in these shops owned by non Pashtun Pakistanis and are ridiculed by them, yet feel much more kinship with them. When they speak to Afghan Pashtuns they speak to them like complete outsiders.

Are sure about this? I'm from Pukhtunlhwa and most of the people I know aren't like this at all.

Never got around to answering this question. I've only known one Pakistani Pashtun in my city. But my experience with him wouldn't really reflect the norm because he was an educated Wahabi that caused a lot of friction within our community (not just Afghans, but Tableeghis and other Deobandis too, and even some other Wahabi groups and Ikhwanis) because he was basically recruiting people for his own little clique/cult. But his best friend was a Persianized Afghan Pashtun, so even he seemed to otherwise get along well with Afghans.

I have uncles in the UK, and their community seemed to have Pashtuns from both countries with no one differentiating between them, as others have mentioned.

In terms of relations with other neighboring groups, my community seems to be pretty friendly regardless of ethnicity Alhamdulillah, but I only hang with religious people, and don't attend the secular Afghan events (which are usually full of shamelessness), so I can't speak for them. We have an Afghan masjid here, but a lot of Afghans don't actually attend because it was bought with interest. The masjid I usually go to now is run by a Pashtun (from Nangarhar) mufti who's highly respected among the Tableghi community. Most of our attendees are Desi, but everyone gets along Alhamdulillah. I've actually never heard an Indian or Pakistani disrespect a Pashtun. Actually, all the ones I know are very respectful so the first time I saw the way internet Desis act I was really surprised.

That's so great to hear. I've heard about the Pashtun communities in North Virginia and California and have always been curious about them as we have very few here. How many Pashtuns do you have there exactly.

The California Pashtuns are also pretty united it seems. In fact they even got into a fight with Desis over control of a masjid(the fight is stupid and I don't support such behaviour. I'm just using it to illustrate how Pashtuns are their own integrated "faction.")

I have a friend who used to go to that masjid often. I'm not too familiar with the details, but the Punjabis were accusing the Imam of supporting the Taliban, and supposedly they were the first ones to make it a racial problem. I heard it from a Pashtun so that could be because of bias, but it's what I heard.

That's cool. TBH I also feel a kind of "connection" when meeting Persians and Kurds. It would probably be even deeper if I spoke Farsi.

Well we are closely related, ethnically and culturally. Can't say much about Kurds (all the ones I know are Arabized so they don't seem that similar to us), but Tajiks have a pretty similar culture to us. No one wants to admit it because of the ethnic tensions in Afghanistan right now, but I grew up with a lot of Farsiwan people and they were not significantly different from Pashtuns. The religious ones act like religious Pashtuns, and the secular ones act like secular Pashtuns. There are differences, but nowhere near as big as the differences between a Pashtun and something like an Arab or Indian.

That only happens if the guy lived(s) in Punjab/Sindh most of his life and are submerged in Pakistani Propaganda(like completely dead submerged). I.e. They are the ones that have a big problem talking to a Pashtun from Afghanistan.
E.g. So I made these two friends of mine meet each other at an eatery. One is from Afghanistan(Kandahar, but lived in the North so speaks Northern Pukhto) and the other from Pakistan(around Kohat, lived in Islamabad. His Pukhto is super fine). So my Pakistani friend hated every moment of the time until both of them departed, while on the other hand my Afghan friend was very enthusiastic to do just small talk with him.
I(from Pakistani side, lived in Peshawar and Kabul both) on the other hand have most of my friends(mostly Pashtuns) from Afghanistan(because not many Pashtuns from Pakistan ever leave Pakistan.)

Not at all from what ive seen. Over here in sweden the pashtuns and other pakis rarely get along while afghan pashtuns and paki pashtuns get along so much better here
