Pedophilia is in the culture of the pashtuns. It is not something that islam has either allowed nor has it denounced it. Islam has left it to us, as people, to determine what is right and what is wrong. The problem is that pashtuns don't really care about right or wrong, as long as their pride is not diminished.
It is sad to know that a lot of families would throw their daughters to the wolves to make sure their pride and dignity is still in tact. But again, it is all culture, not religion that is telling us to do this.
I do not know before Islam, Pashtun used to have child brides but as Prophet tradition is followed religiously, sex with children is more common. My argument is that child marriage of Prophet was his personal act not a Sunna.
