Scientific research is not clear-cut on the matter. Scientists have concluded that it would be better to marry outside the family because it would create a strong gene pool. Those who blindly follow any scientific research, without understand what experts have said, jump the gun.

There is proof that marriage in-between immediate family members is dangerous; however they say that cousins are border-line, therefore it is safe to stay away.

Because I am a Muslim I believe that the Holy Quran is the literal word of Allah; therefore, if Allah permits it then I am perfectly fine with it.

What they call border-line for me is the mixing of water and oil, they are always at the border-line but never mix.

Also, one has to realize that before mass migration occurred, man used to marry a lot with cousins. If this is something "dangerous" then we should all be deformed and retarded and have serious medical problems.

Furthermore, this practice still continues, no harm so far. Those who say that harm has been created they should research other aspects of that individual's health to see that perhaps the problem might lie somewhere else and not on the fact that it is due to cousins marrying.

Islam will prevail, a promise made by the Creator of this universe:

[61:8] They desire to extinguish the light of Allah with the breath of their mouths, but Allah will perfect His light, even if the disbelievers hate it.

[61:9] He it is Who has sent His Messenger with the guidance and the Religion of truth, that He may cause it to prevail over all religions, even if those who associate partners with God hate it.

I don't have anything against cousin marriages, if both parties are happy then so be it. Although, I don't think you should continuously marry into the family, it's just not healthy. In Britain a Baroness has set up a charity to fight cousin marriages amongst Asians, namely Pakistani's, because of the birth defects it's having on children.

I personally would prefer not to marry a cousin and so have no intention of doing so.
sweeeeet how beautiful your world is..

this is what they told you. the real reason for this is that clans and families used marriage to strengthen their ties. an influental and powerful khan could not give his daughter to any nice guy from the neighborhood mountain. he could care less about love, life aint no bollywood to him^^. that nice guy's family could be a rival family challenging him for his power. they would infiltrate this khan and find out his weak spots. he was vulnerable then he feared transparency. world was cruel back then
so clans and families simply didnt want to share their power just like modern politics ;-)

I did not want to destroy your reality forgive me=)
