    you should differentiate between the pride. The pride which pashtun used, fakhr is in the meaning of self respect.

    Za ye pa ghurror darna da meenay pa nom ghwarama,

    or za ba khpal ghurror ao haya zan sara wramma.

    the hadith you qouted is irrelevant here.

        ^It has nothing to do with self respect. Tell me why it's so hard for them to admit they are wrong?

          Because whoever disrespect us then we get angry, simply as that.

            but why u r insisting that they are wrong.
            May be in your opinion they are wrong, but why you think, all should accept your opinion.
            It depends how the people take and then respond to it. However, if you are pride or not, or how you take the pride?
            But i told you my opinion and what I understood from the literature and behaviour of the society. Perhaps we have different glasses with which we are seeing the world.
            Hope my answer satisfies you querry.

                @Enlangner and Anjalai

                The term "it's in our genes" might not be a genuine parlance to justify the socio-cultural behavior of Pashtuns but it could be considered more figurative here.

                Anger and stubbornness are quite universal feelings and are displayed by humans everywhere.Infact animals have their major share in the anger-world as well. Yet when it comes to Pashtuns, these two emotions are often manifested in intensified manner. One of the reasons is the our warrior-type nature as obvious from our history. Self-defense and safeguarding your tribe/territory/family are vital to Pashtuns. In addition, the core principle of self-dignity/self-honor (ghairat) is taught to a Pashtun since childhood and is required to act upon it. And at every point in his/her life, he/she fights to live up to the principle of "ghairat". Therefore, it's not due to the reason that we teach our kids anger/stubbornness BUT by virtue of the demands of traditional Pashtun lifestyle, we become spontaneously adapted to such behavior and if we display it, we don't feel indifferent in our community (that is when you think it might be in genes). It is very easy to infuriate a Pashtun in the Name of Honor, one of the reasons for which is the principle of self-honor.
                Of course, exceptions are always there.

                There are many other reasons to tag us 'ignorant'. The foremost, nowadays, is our LOVE for the .

                    And who DOESN'T get angry when they're disrespected? Violence is another thing, though. Not all people tend to get violent about it. Some take a more peaceful approach than others. I honestly think it's insecurity that leads us to get that angry and violent (IF we're violent at all).

                          Ya we are converging to the same point.
                          People should read the book, the pathan by ghani khan, and then especially customs and then a cruel example, but where he says, i am always unable to sya, who is right.
