In Pakistan situation is different. I will exemplify, as Pakistan is telling the whole world, Afghans or pashtuns never accept supremecy of any one and they have ensured pashtuns about this as well.
But Pakistan tries its best to prove its own supremecy. The reason behind this all is, becasue Pakistan needs and wants an illitrate, bad tempered, brave and warrior ethnicity for its survival. I have heard it in my childhood (I am sure it is wrong, but it was propagated just to ensure pashtuns of their bravery and then to fight as per pakistan wishes) that Before 1965 indo Pakistan war, Indian prime minster told Ayub Khan (pakistani president) that I have a people (sikhs) whose mind is out (angry) 12 hours and 12 hours normal life, how you can win the war?
Ayub Khan said, I have a race (Pashtuns) whose mind is out 24 hours, then how you will win the war and then Pakistan won the 1965 war.
All this is not because of pashtun bravery, it is because pakistan wants and it did in many cases to befool pashtuns.
In the last 2 centuries sikhs and pashtuns are nicely used by others, and millions of them are effectees. But as a result both of them got nothing, just bad names.

Then Pakistan is telling the world as well, as Musharraf said to CNN that you can say pashtuns are talib and Talib are pahstuns. Then what an image he was giving to the world? He also said further, that they are very brave and very difficult to be defeated.
Such compliments destroy us.

I have a seat mate belonging to USA from heidelberg to nuremberg 2 years before, and when he knew I am pakistani and pashtun, he was much interetsed asking me questions.
When I told him, how pashtuns are in their normal life? He was feeling so sorry, why this bloody Bush is killing such respected and sincere people. I told him, because we cannot convey our message to him. On one side our message to him is conveyed by Musharraf (an Indian) and on another side our message is conveyed by Osama (an Arab). Then how we will be able to express ourselves as per our wish, and how international community will believe us.

However many things are there to be discussed about this topic, but hope we know we are being used by these wrong compliments.
Just decide we are cowards, and will never fight for saving pakistan or arabs nationalism. Ya when we are 100% sure now, this and that war is 100% for us, then we will be brave.
I mean, we should decide well for ifhgt or flight situation.

lewanai, you are right, but if we stand behind musharraf or osama armed and giving a gesture that ya we are short tempered warrior, then how international community will believe. We should side ourselves with these beasts and then international community will hear our voice.
International community will never ask us what we think? but just what we do?

Don't most of our people back home just want to live in peace? That is the story that I think needs to be told. Many people think of Pashtuns as VILLAINS but most are just mothers and fathers who only want their children to grow up in safety and be given the opportunity to learn and prosper.

i mean it's not just a trait of men to be hardheaded... pashtoon women have this disease too lol..

i was saying this based on my experiences with pashtoon women in my family and friends... alot of them are very stubborn, hardheaded, and very strong. and most of the women in my family have anger/temper issues.

i dont consider being Full of pride is a bad characteristic....we have somethingto beproud of we should be proud......... being pashtuns is enough for us to be proud...

we are emotional and generous people....... always will keep our words and hence the reason for our state today........

short tempered... i have seen and heard of many pashtuns being so... but neither was my grandfather nor dad....

but if we get very angry sometimes.. the statement coming from my family is 'pashtana/pashtun, cant help'......

star, I have a friend who is certain that he'll become a martyr one day. Now martyrs can handpick any 100 people and get them transferred to heaven. He has promised to get me transferred as well because I help him out with his studies. So my butt is covered.
