Your trying to make your won definition of it. your too desperate.

you were saying that welwar included the jewelry, you've changed what the application of walwar was at least 3 times in this debate. Which implies that walwar is basically a pretext to extort money.

I never said the Husband's family keeps it, Yasmeen in the POST YOU THANKED did. ...

If I heard the story well she stood up in a moment of disaster and encuraged the men to fight?! Also wasn't she killed?

Mahr can be negotiated by her husband and the bride; if she wants just a few dates then that is fine if she wants something else that's fine. some Women during Nabi(saw) just wanted an education and to learn how to read and write the Qur'an. There is no cheating in Mahr, everyone gains justice. If there is a cheating then it is not Mahr

that is why Islam is always superior to backwards Pashtun culture; which is the lowest most hateful to women. Islam gave women rights Pashtunwali steals rights form women.

Just because Pashtuns didn't cover faces, doesn't change that Pashtuns sell their daughters like prostitutes, where as Islam liberates women from such a fate.

I never said it's "just" jewelry; I'm making it sound like your claim that it's to cover expenses like jewelry is bogus; which it is.

You even thanked the post in which Yasmeen confirms the jewelry is donated by the groom. hence this claim cannot be teneable on any Islamic grounds.

Yes she was killed in the battle.

Malalai of Maiwand (Pashto: د ميوند ملالۍ), also known as Malala (Pashto:ملاله) or Malalai Anaa (Pashto: ملالۍ انا‎, meaning Malalai the "grandmother") is a national folk hero of Afghanistan who rallied the Pashtun army against the British troops at the 1880 Battle of Maiwand.[1] She was a young Pashtun woman who fought alongside Ayub Khan and was responsible for the Afghan victory[2] at the Battle of Maiwand on 27 July 1880, during the Second Anglo-Afghan War. She is also known as "The Afghan Jeanne D'Arc".[3] There are many schools, hospitals, and other institutions named after her in Afghanistan. Her story is mentioned in all Afghan school text books.

              • we should be wary of Wikipedia articles because people add things which are not always factual.

She did not actually fight in the battle but she did carry the Afghan flag which was very brave none the less, but let's not exaggerate.

Anyways stay on topic; this thread is about Pashtun Marriage Process.

Be wary and be aware first yourself . I may not see you again quoting Wikipedia as you do frequently. If you do not agree with the contents you can challenge it there is wikipedia or can give the counter argument here.

Coming to the topic if Islam governs the marriage and mahr then how are you people discussing here Pashtun Marriage Process. In your Wahabi Islam culture does not exist. Only do what Arabs do. This thread then be closed with one sentence that Pashtuns cannot marry the way they want. They must follow Arab Islam otherwise they will be declared infidels but muftis like RTR.

I cannot understand how you call your self RTR as reason does not exist in religion. Religion is belief in unseen and reason cannot be used in the realm of unseen. Reason for philosophy not Islam. And then how the champion of islam is discussing Pashtun marriage as marriage can only be Islamic not Pashtun or Turkish!

                        • I did not say that Wikipedia sources cannot be used but I simply said be wary. Make sure that the links and citations are saying correct information and properly cited.

There is no Arabic Islam or Pashtun Islam; Islam is/was opposed to the Arabic customs so it cannot be Arabic culture just like it is opposed to the customs of Pashtun culture.

Islam is not against Pashtun culture because it is Pashtun; it is against Pashtun culture because it is cruel, unjust and backwards. It teaches hatred to women, male bigotry. Islam wants justice, fairness and balance.
Pashtuns should not follow their way of marriage because their way is sick, and degrades women. Islam does not promote cultural customs of any culture, it promotes what it determines as just and fair.

In Islam reason does exist; in fact Qur'an encourages to use of logic, analysis and thinking to solve problems; Yes there are aspects which they stress may surpass reason, but the actual practice of the religion as a method to deal with problems is reasonable.

I'm not a Wahhabi; I'm a Mu'tazili and as you can see I have a sympathetic attitude to Sufism; this contradicts Wahhabiyah.

                          • I ask excuse for getting away from topic, in fact Malala should be a single topic to discuss. Concerning Pashtun wedding traditions, may You all describe it a bit more detailed? I am also interested to compare it with my culture and with how it changed though times.

Again, Im not an expert on Islam but from my point of view, Islam is not only religion (I mean limited to prayers and religious rituals), its more like a way of life. And some aspects of life are reasonable. Look at the Sharia law which seems to be very logical and comprehensive.
