i am trying my best to recognize and understand the main causes behind the aspects of my culture that i object to so in 5 or 10 years from now (by the way, you would be rotting in your grave by then), when i return to my country, we can take care of it.

a person born with a shrinked brain will always remain an idiot. i have been in this country for less than 10 years and i understand that it takes for whole lot of more than being exposed to a westernized culture to be affected by it negatively. you who have been born and raised in europe fail to understand that it's not the accent but what lays beyond a voice which makes the quality of what is being said worth listening to.

It is sad that the American Siinnii knows more about pashtun culture than most pashtuns on this forum.

Sword/gun/weapon is part of pashtun culture. There is a reason for it. All you have to do is read Jefferson's philosophy behind the second amendment(right to bear arms.) Its to protect the first amendment(right to express opinion.) In the jirga, everyone has the right to express their opinion, the weapon is a symbol of what gives them that right. No one has the right to shut anyone up, if anyone tries, the weapon is a reminder that it wont be easy. The gun is a symbol in the jirga. I have never heard of any armed conflict occurring in a Jirga. The Jirga is to talk and the mydon is for battle.

Exactly, which is what I said. The biggest threat to a tyrant is the first amendment. When one speaks against a tyrant, he is silenced with a bullet through the head. If you give means of protection(2nd amendment) to that person who is speaking against a tyrant, shutting him up just got a little harder, and if there are many people speaking against a tyrant with the means to protect themselves, then shutting all of them up just became impossible.
Many of Jefferson philosophies came from Native American tribes and how they functioned as a society. He saw that the Indians govern with no government, and the King governs with absolute authority. He wanted something in the middle so he came to the conclusion that Government is a necessary evil and that the government that governs least governs best.
