  • condemn BBC Urdu for displaying the photos on our respectable Pakhtoon

We strongly condemn BBC Urdu for displaying the photos on our respectable Pukhtoon Trbal elders under the caption of terrorists. They must remove this picture of remove the caption. The white bearded turbuned old elders cannot fight at this age. Guns are the traditional part of trible elders when they go for Jirgas. All Pukhtoons Condmn BBC Urdu for this blunde

i condemn the elders of any tribe taking guns to jirgas with them when the purpose of a jirga is sitting down to settle differences between people by talking things over rather than violence, in the first place.

Jirgas have to protect themselves. You cant tell the American jirga(Congress) when they convene not to protect itself. All jirgas have this right.

unless guns were pointed between participants in the sitting circle, i see no problem with armed men coming to the event. its a macho show of man hood, deal with it.

if the jirga goes bad, the sides shoot it out then and there or it happens later on. the results are the same, the time timeline is just different.

and if these men who were participating in a jirga were really labeled as terrorists by a news agency, then that's obviously a "wtf" but obviously every pashtun/afghan/turbanite looks the same to them despite the circumstance.

There are people today who think that admitting God’s absolute greatness decreases the value and importance of humans in the creation, as if God and mankind are rivals competing in greatness and power. Meanwhile I feel that whenever our perception of God’s greatness increases, with it we become greater, because we are the creation of a great God.

i find it insulting when people justify grown ups taking symbols of ignorance along with them to jirgas or when they associate it with a part of our culture. it shows exactly how inappropriate their mentalities are. and men who need to carry guns so they can feel macho about themselves are anything but macho.

That probably has more to do with the universal concept of leverage when negotiating with your opponent. It's in no one's interest to appear weak or defenseless when negotiating if they want the fairest outcome for themselves. I hate that the general public including our very own feel that it's perfect to bag Pashtuns to their heart's content because it's the in thing to do. Any little problem, everyone bags Pashtuns for it freely and without looking at the mirror at their own problems, which most of the time are a lot more severe.

they are not there to negotiate, they are there to settle down the differences. it's done by the wise and elders of the community, not the representatives of each party that there should be a need for guns so no one can take advantage of the other.

                    1) Macho? Every guy in that picture is a +55 year old village elder, doubt if they are concerned about feeling macho. I figured they carried guns for the same reason we carry them in the States.

                    2) Guns aren't part of Pashtun culture?

i said i find it insulting and distasteful, not that i didn't believe in it being a part of our culture. i don't want to be justifying or advocating for something that i find wrong or immoral even if it has been a part of our cultural for centuries.

As mentioned before, I thought the purpose of elders's carrying guns to jirgas was basic defense of themselves and of the jirga itself. Sometimes, you can't be too certain what to expect from Pashtuns under certain circumstances honestly. Assuredly, elders know this. A jirga holds the potential to become a highly volatile event depending on the issue and who exactly is involved. In some cases it's probably wise to be armed. They could always appoint others to guard the jirga but then the issue of 'who can be trusted?' may come into play.

No one cares who you want to condemn in the comfort of your Canadian home, my dear. You can go on condemning things all you want but you aren't a politician and your condemnations matter very little in the global scheme of things. Pashtun men care little about what you want or think. Evolutionarily speaking, they have proven to be more powerful than you or I and ultimately it will be their way or the highway regardless. Lol..

Congo is right. Bagging Pashtuns is the new trend. Whenever we are upset about something, it's always the Pashtun boogymen's fault. And that's messed up because we are more receptive and tolerant of everyone else's mistakes which happen to be a lot worse.

As much as I like you DZJ, sometimes you just talk irresponsibly like this. I think you owe Pashtuns an apology.
