No. The Desis stomped that out as part of their plan to Desify the Pashtun and Baloch regions. I'm pretty sure we used to though before getting annexed by Pakistan since the Pashtun regions of Afghanistan do.

Dude, they are mainly shiite Pashtuns. Most sunni pashtuns in tribal area dont celebrate it. But they celebrate another polytheist festival on 14 of august.

You mean kaafirs who call themselves sunni muslims, right? Because in Islam its an act of apostasy to celebrate or revere anything which is specific to polytheists.

And there he is with the blackmail tactics and passive threats of excommunication.

Nature is not the property of the "kaafirs". Honoring and celebrating the rites of nature and the passage of the seasons is universal and not specific to anyone.

Get rid of this narrow minded and hair-splitting nonsense please.

                Ghula,
The Arabs didn't celebrate it because most were nomads at the time and seasons are not important to nomads. They just count the full moons to measure time. Agricultural communities count seasons to measure time. It has nothing to do with polytheism, it has to do with survival.

In your narrow minded world, everyone has to do everything your way other wise its apostasy which itself is apostasy because you are foolishly attributing the powers of God on to yourself.

Khushal, Arabs did celebrate both Zoroastrian festivals in Madina. And even if they didn't. Nawroz is like any other festival specific to polytheists like Christmas or Easter. As Muslims, we are not allowed to rever and celebrate anything which is specific to the religion of kaafirs.

If you think this is being unreasonable, then you haven't understood the testimony of faith in Islam yet.

Europeans celebrate carnival to drive out spirits of winter. Its a festival specific to their pagan heritage.

Persians celebrated nawroz. Its a festival, eventhough tied to changing of seaons, still specific to their religion.

eid is specific to Islam so even if they do it we are not going to change our religion because of u.

many paki mushriks celebrate eid, recite Quran and pray salah. But that doesn't mean we should abandon our religion because u immitate us.

By that argument we should stop fasting since, fasting is specific to Jews and to Catholics

Zoroastrians also pray five times a day .....looks like we'll need to stop Salat because it is specific to their religion.

The orthodox will pray during each of the five divisions of the day (see our page on the Zoroastrian calendar) or gahs (see our page on the Avesta, scriptures) including reciting a special set of prayers before and after bathing.

Zoroastrians hold that the effectiveness of a person's beliefs is demonstrated in that person's deeds. While praying helps to reaffirm beliefs, a life based on good deeds is prayer in action. Our lives are the temples of our souls. This is a natural progression of the ethical creed of good thoughts, words and deeds, where good deeds are held to be most meritorious.

Nowruz is specific to our culture too and we are not going to stop it because some pagan once celebrated it too. we celebrate it as a cultural festival not as a religious festival.
