  • Is it possible that a good pashtun can be a patriotic pakistani?

Many pashtuns on "internet" mostly afghan citizens usually ask me that why i am a pro-pakistani despite being a pashtun?
Even at a trash pashtun forum when i defended pakistan multiple times, they call me traitor to pakhtun nation, son of ranjeet singh, punjabi blah blah and then admin banned me for my views.
i never understand this, why our afghan brothers and sisters expect us to hate a country which is our homeland?

ao ka sta zma homeland ye?

Anyway, I wouldn't call a Pakistani supporter names.... but I will feel from my heart that if a Pashtun loves Pakistan above his own people, there's something wrong in his ideology. With the right sort of guidance, he can make a proper Pashtun.

What do you think about Afghanistan
Afghanistan has consisted of everything from Mazar-e-Sharif to Bolan and Chitral for more than a millennium. Against those 1,000 years, we've had just under a hundred years of the division of that homeland into two parts. However, Afghanistan is still the homeland for all Pashtuns.

You Pakistanis cannot even let Kashmir go which is not even your own land! How do you expect Pashtuns to let their land go when its our land stollen from us?

Pakistan is not making pashto the official language of the country even when 28 million Pashtuns lives there. They wan't all schools and universities to teach in Urdu in Pashtunkhwa.

They did not even wanted to change the name NWFP to something which the Pashtuns want. NWFP the name given by Agreez!!!

Imagine if someone take Lahore, Rawalpindi and Faisalabad from you and make a separate state, how would you feel about it? Would you accept those Panjabis who accept the new boundries? Or would you call them traitor because they don't fight to get back to Pakistan?

Pakistan has already made you like this: Da dodai pa teen rupe da...

In future it will become: Ye dodai teen rupa me hain...

LOL, I could not agree with Farid more.

Paki pashtuns can merely EVER count in Pashto.

            da rotey panj rupee da.

No wonder so quick to be desified.

The thing is, people like me don't have a Pakistan obsession.

They see it for what it is - an isolated, deeply paranoid country, a homegrown terrorist malady and a super-inferior complex. I see ethnic discontent, people wanting out and what I don't see - compare this to India and Afghanistan - is the educated middle class diaspora returning to rebuild the country.

As a Pashtoon, my loyalty is not with Mohammad Ali Jinnah's peacemeal two nation vision. There's go to be something better.

Oh yeah, and the more anyone tries to shove something down your throat, the more you are likely to vomit.

People it is unfair to go judge all Pashtunkhwa people like this. Majority are drun pakhtaana who are regular pashtuns. We have the same culture, nation, everything. Its not as if Pashtunkhwa people choose to be divided from their mother country. However, politics and a string of bad rulers in Kabul led to things we didn't want. Now obviously, you will see a portion of the society where this "pakistaniyath" rubs off on. Look at the schooling we in Pashtunkhwa had to go through, every moment pakistna this, hindu that, flaana flaana...it was all foreign history. So you end up with a chunk of people who grow up knowing more about south asians than their own native Pashtun/Afghan history. BTW I am pashtunkhwa and I count in pashto.

Jodigul, majority are not Afghanistan pashtuns, rather Pashtunkhwa pashtuns. Look at even your own experience in Chai khaana, it was the Pashtunkhwa pashtuns who went after you. And rightly so. You are basically saying..is it ok for me to fall in love with the person who shoots my family? When you are disloyal to your pashtuns, but are loyal to a citizenship, then either you have ulterior motives or you are confused.

Well I seen the schools and the history they teach them in Pashtunistan schools so seeing a patriotic pakistani Pashtun is not rare.
If you said something bad about Jinnah in my village then 90% of chance you will get beat up.

Actually i have asked the question from kids in the west who learn pashtun things from internet but have not so much exposure to actual pashtun society in pakistan or afghanistan. These kids learn about pashtuns from trash pashtun forums which preach hateful stuff and lies.
The members in these trash forums lie to kids are that every pashtun in NWFP is anti-pakistani (which is not in actual) so they show surprize when they meet guys like me.

thats interesting because i know of a few afghanies who pretend to be from pakistan as to avoid criticism for some of the lifestyle choices they have made..
you shouldn't be ashamed of who you are. look at me. i am a hijabi afghan with a pierced eyebrow. afghans in foreign rarely wear a hijab and hijabies almost never support pierced eyebrows.

I am no bird, and no nest ensnares me.

non commercial would cost less if he was in charge himself which he plans on doing. right now it's n herat but soon it will be in qanadahar.

You are right, for pakistani pashtuns in west, it become easier to pretend as afghans citizens.... most of pashtun folk of pakistan associate themeselves with afghanistan to avoid being called "paki".

                          Well Pak means "pure".
so Paki means "of pure"..makes no sense to me..nothing wrong with being pure.

Jodigul you get criticized by Pashtuns that live east of the durand, who have studied in Peshawar and are aware of the society. So this maybe true for some, but in chai khaana that wasn't.

Oh and we call ourselves Afghans (the pashtuns that is), because that is what we are. We share only religion with the rest of Pakistan, so why should we identify with them? We are Pashtuns, and so its natural that we will bond with Pashtuns whether east or west of the durand.

This is the issue which makes me worried always.....i am a 5th generation Afghan who has lost his language completely due to living in pujnab......Pakistan is a land where i m born, got education and all that status...then how can i hate it....many people will consider me pathan/punjabi etc.....but spending some years with true Pashtoon people, i have realized that your consideration means nothing. We would be of Pashtun origin at all.
It is surprizing again for me to see that Majority of Pakistani Pashtuns do not hate Pakistan. they proudly call themselves as pakistani.....last thing, i found some 2nd/3rd generation afghani pashtuns too who have now paki I.D card and they proudly call themselves as Paksitani.
No doubt our people are not getting true rights.....they must be given....but still this thing couldnot force PakiPashtoons to hate Pakistan!!!!
