i think change in pashtoon society is very slow compared to others. it is definitely changing but not as much as one would expect in this 21st century.

i personally think change is good as long as you don't forget your ROOTS... you can reach the sky but you have to make sure ur feet still touch the ground. i hate to see someone change his culture and religion based on the change in his economical status. it seems to me that now Islam and pashtoonwali is considered something for poor and miserable people. rich and educated people claiming to be more modern and up-beat have started thinking it is un-cool to be a typical pashtoon or a religious person.

i have a dream to see pashtoons be part of a very well educated, and advanced society that can compete with the rest of the developed world but at the same time i wouldn't want pashtoons to sacrifice their roots to acheive it.

Its sad but year by year pakhtun culture is going, i've seen many mixed pakhtun kids in my town they are like oh my dads pathan and my moms raja..they are near enough pakis now...many pakhtuns went into punjab and lost their identity. I am one of them, why don't they get it into their stupid thick litttle heads that this will lead to pakhtuns culture dying..In my case as far as i'm concerned i'm punjo now.....

My fathers family still live in villages. They still go out to the well, they still warm up the water themselves to clean out for drinking water, they warm up water a little bit before fajr for their baths etc. Some pashtuns love the village, they love their generations of land. Others love to go out to the city, get educated, etc. I think it all depends on the people. I would love to see our pashtun people, especially women to go out, finish school, work, and make something out of themselves. But then not all pashtuns are like that and want that.
