I heard a recent story where a girl married a guy without her family's permission, her brother eventually caught up with her, shot her and her husband, and took the baby. No words can describe such acts.

I heard of similar stories. A guy killed his sister because she wanted to marry a non-Pashtun. But he would still attend weddings of mixed ethnicities and would dance with women.

Oh God, it's terrifying, may they stay safe InshAllah. Those women have guts.

I don't know why the families don't just accept the proposals, sometimes they go overboard with pride. Though, every situation is different.

Because she wanted to? Allah. These need men need to realise that women have thoughts and feelings too. I seriously have no idea where those girls get the courage from to speak out.

I know women who have married non-Pashtuns. One of them ran away and married a English man, who wasn't a proper Muslim at all, her family disowned her, what else could they do. I heard she was unable to have kids, and she herself said ''It's because of what I did''.

Also another woman, who's quite liberal and modern, she too married an Englishman. However, she's a bit stricter with her daughters, she makes them attend Islamic school, likes them were Pakhtana clothing, and at home she speaks urdu with them. (But I'm not sure if she is Pashtun, she could be tajik?)

                Yes, I understand that.

I mean like not allowing marriage outside of the tribe; okay so we should marry Pashtuns if it's our parent preference, but there shouldn't be division amongst tribes, at least.

                  • I think its wrong for women to run away with a men, its relly disrepectful to her family and pashtuns, plus it ruins your image and your familys.
plus people will call her names like matiza
All pashtuns parents wants its a nice respected pashtun family.

                      Precisely.

Ye of course, I don't agree with running away either, especially with a man, but I do acknowledge that sometimes there'll be exceptional circumstances.

                      • I dont thikn running away is a good thing. But if the parents are being unreasonable, then what other choice do people have in a backward society?

There is a person I know she is being forced to marry her cousin back home and she is being forced to work full time so she can bring him here and apply for a visa for him. All because her parents want to do the parents of her cousin a favor.

A female run-away. Usually a girl/woman who runs away with a man for marriage because her family won't let her marry him.

                              • It's not as easy judging the situation in which people decide to elope. Literally all those people I heard have fled their homes, their marriage has always been unsuccessful. Literally always. Always I hear of girls who eloped return to her family because her husband has also ditched her. They usually taunt her that if she can run away with a stranger and go against her family for a stranger, then tomorrow she can do the same for anyone else. In other words, many of such girls lose respect even in the eyes of the person she loves and for whom she did all this. Only exception is when I understand girls eloping is when they are forced to marry someone they just do not want to marry and who are beaten to accept their family's decision, in such cases I am always in favour of women to fight for their rights. But eloping is hardly the solution as such marriages never work out.

I know of this case where this woman was proposed by some man in Canada who was very rich but a bit old in age, but for the sake of Canada she agreed. After arriving in Canada she realised West actually didn't make her happy and she demanded divorce, and when her brother said if she wants to divorce then she won't be allowed to remarry. She agreed and promised on her family she won't even think of second marriage, and after being upset from her for few months her family finally accepted her again and give her the love she always used to get. Again some good proposals came to her and her brother told her she can say yes or no to whoever she wants to, but only thing he requested her was to not do something which will make him lose his senses. He was said to have mental outbursts every now and but towards his sister he was very caring. Apparently he also left the woman he loved because his sister had an argument with her, and he didn't want to marry someone who had problems with any of his family members. Within few months, she fell in love with her driver's son and she eloped with the guy without telling anything to her family, not even to her mother that she likes someone. Her brother got so fuming that he searched for her and when he found her she was six months or so pregnant. He shot her (and obviously her to-be born baby) and her husband dead, and committed suicide afterwards.

For the brother to very mercilessly kill a yet to-be born baby and the poor husband of his sister, who just did what his 'love' told him to, is uncorrectable and he made himself a sinner for even in Akherat and that also thanks to a woman who might even have been worth it. But I also failed to understand the woman who ditched her family's love who loved her since she was born for a guy she knew for only few months, and despite of knowing how dangerous her brother is she ruined her own family and her in-laws lives for her own happiness. And this was the first ever where I felt bad for every single person in the family. For the brother as he left the woman he loved for his sister but his sister very selfishly ditched his sacrifices and love, and even made a false oath on her entire family. For the woman because I cannot understand from what perspective she was thinking and nor can I judge whether her love for her husband was truly that huge? And of course for both families whom lost a daughter, a son and a to-be born grandchild.
