Different people have different views. They dont have problem with each other. Few month ago In rawalpindi i saw a punjabi fighting with afghan and i saw that 4 or 5 pashtuns on occasion rushed to help of afghan and togather they beat the punjabi .Pashtuns of Kp care for afghans and treat them like other fellow pashtuns of pakistan. But there is difference in attitude between rural and urban kp pashtuns towards afghans. While rural pashtuns are more open and hospitable, the city folk have certain amount of dislike for presence of afghans as they are competing with locals for business.

The modern and educated afghans who live in hayatabad do not socialize with locals so they are not that much important.
Also lar o bar yo afghan theory doesnt exist in practical life, it is limited to pashto books. Pashtuns of kp dont call themeselves afghans and are not thinking about joining afghanistan. Local pashtuns dont like the antipakistani activities of afghan governament after fall of taliban and want pro-pakistani governament in afghanistan. Magority of young pashtuns that i have met dont know that ahmad shah abdali was a pashtun.

There is no such thing as Pakistani Pashtuns or Pakistani traits. Pashtuns in the occupied Pakhtunkhwa under the Punjabi empire have to struggle for freedom and cheerleader of the Punjabi empire who ever they are , should be discouraged from glamorising their slavery and miserbale status in a failed and banana state like Pakistan.

The second generation of Pashtuns after forgetting their glorious Pashtun/ Afghan history are now reduced to licking the boots of their brown masters from RWP who in their private meetings do not consider these Pashtuns more than loyal dogs sold out for some bucks.

What kind of a life will it be for a Pashtun if it is at the cost for self respect and freedom. What a curse and shame is for the progeny of the parents who gave birth to slaves busy in working against the interests of their own brothers, sisters , ancestors, language and nation.

my idea of pashtuns prior to coming to canada was very different than it is now. i didn't know any pashtuns from pakhtunwa back then so whoever i met was in canada. they are not dirty of classless people.
i don't go to people's houses so i don't know how these people are behind closed doors but whenever i meet them outside i m approached with respect. sometimes even before they figure out i am a pashtana. they are well educated people who value religion and culture immensely.
afghans generally tend to be a bit paranoid but only until you approach them or introduce yourself to them..after that they will shower you with gratitude..it's almost overwhelming.
most of the time while having a conversation with the pashtuns of afghanistan you will realize that the person opposite you feels very constrained for some reason. pashtuns of pakhtunkhwa are a lot more expressive and not as diplomatic ...

of course there is a few vocabulary mix ups but all in all it's good...
