Punjabi or Panjabi (ਪੰਜਾਬੀ in Gurmukhi script, پنجابی in Shahmukhi script, पंजाबी in Devanagari script) is an Indo-Aryan language spoken by inhabitants of the historical Punjab region (north western India and in Pakistan).

Punjabi language - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Potwari is a dialect of Punjaabi, there for also Indo-Aryan.

Indic refers to Indo-Aryan languages - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

    Aryan/Iranian same thing.

Indo-Iranian languages - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The contemporary Indo-Iranian languages form the largest sub-branch of Indo-European, with more than one billion speakers in total, stretching from Europe (Romani) and the Caucasus (Ossetian) eastward to Xinjiang (Sarikoli) and Assam (Assamese) and south to Sri Lanka (Sinhalese). SIL in a 2005 estimate counts a total of 308 varieties, the largest in terms of native speakers being Hindustani (Hindi and Urdu, ca. 540 million), Bengali (ca. 240 million), Punjabi (ca. 120 million), Marathi and Persian (ca. 100 million each), Gujarati (ca. 45 million), Kurdish (ca. 40 million), Pashto (35 million), Oriya (ca. 30 million), Sindhi (ca. 20 million) and Maithili (ca. 15million).

^that about sums you up and your types. So I understand why you want to promote a unique racial category for Pukhtoons, you suffer from complexes. Genetically Pukhtoons are similar to many neighboring communities including Hindkowals, Tajiks, Kashmiris, Punjaabis, Jatts and Gujjars.

But you too have a bias in discarding the other more established theories, and selecting this one.

What established theory, bring it forward, any theory you got, and watch me take it apart inch by inch.

Punjabi is classed as Indic in language. Pashto as Iranian. This Iranian classification really means nothing though, and does not refer to modern day Iran, just as Indic does not refer to modern day India.

Depends what you mean by genetically.

But phenotypically Pashtuns can be distinguished from Gujjars, Jatts, Tajiks, on average.

Culturally and linguistically Pashtuns are different too.

          You theorized this Wrayun:

In fact there is no evidence that original Pukhtoon speakers, who are probably closer to other Indic groups like the Rajputs, Gujjars, Jatts, had these light features.

The original Pashtun speakers are most likely nothing like any of those groups you mentioned. In fact there's zero chance in my opinion.

the key word here, opinion, not evidence or scholarly research and analysis but opinion, a feeling, a bias.

                ^SXC, roadrunner is a troll.

Never discusses who or what she/he is. Therefore you are working with a ghost who can dish out any nonsense without having to worry about being called out for it.

                Waste of time.

Many "blood" Pathans or "Pashtun Asts" who no longer speak Pukhto, or practice Pukhtoonwale, but are offspring of Pukhtoons, want to stress a unique racial category for Pukhtoons i.e blood linage. It stems out of nostalgia and cultural romanticism towards their ancestral "heritage" where they can be homosexuals, transsexuals, apostates, porn stars, French speaking, Punjaabi speaking, Parsi speaking, Arabic speaking, Chinese speaking PUKHTOONS/Pathans without having to practice or live Pukhto. You know, people who view Pukhto the language, Pukhto the culture/heritage, as irrelevant, primitive, while adopting evolved industrialists identities.

These people unfortunately suffer from complexes, they are not happy with what they are born with, or who they have evolved to become. Therefore they want the whole of the Pukhtoon community to conform to their special ideas about who or what should be a Pukhtoon, and wish Pukhtoons to compensate for their illumination and enlightenment.

                  Utter bullshyt.

I feel that such types of people often behave as Trojan Horses for a certain agenda, they play off the Pakhtun credibility card to hide behind but really have views, values and concepts totally in conflict with the heartland values.

Yes that is true...There was this group in Lahore calling itself Pathan and publishing a monthly magazine titled "Nawa-i-Pathan"....These people had exactly the same opinion as you have mentioned with regard to Pashtun validity claims...I have noticed such people also place a lot of emphasis on this Ban-i-Israelite theory of Pashtun origin....because there the purity of lineage notion gets validation...and their claim to Pashtun ancestry also gets strengthened....

The plain fact is Pashtuns are those who by immediate ancestry are Pashtuns and are Pashto-speakers or are living on Pashtun land and having compatible life style and shared destiny with Pashtuns....A Chitrali, Gujjar, etc. today is more Pashtun than some Imran Khan, etc. ...

So why close your eyes on all those genetics tests and all those history about our people and approve something written by some Irani,Paki or Arab for their political goals?

                            open your eyes!

I don't really believe in categorization.

In any case, I believe you're being narrow minded with your next post on non Pashtun speaking porn stars claiming to be Pashtun (have you checked?)

It is like this. We have Pashtunwali. Now I don't know what you think defines a Pashtun. BUT let's say it is pashtunwali. The elements of pashtunwali are as follows:
                              1. Melmastia (hospitality)
                              2. Nanwatai (asylum)
                              3. Badal (justice)
                              4. Tureh (bravery)
                              5. Sabat (loyalty)
                              6. Imandari (righteousness)
                              7. Ghayrat (self honour or dignity)
                              8. Namus (Honor of women)
Let us take your example. A non Pashto speaker of pashtun descendency.

Let us further say that such an individual is hospitable, helps those who are persecuted, delivers justice, is brave, loyal, righteous, and has honor.

WHERE does it say that person needs to be able to speak pashto to follow the ways of the pashtun?

You're inventing criteria that never was pashtunwali to suit your argument.

How can it be "weak" when there are citations?

Wiki is only weak if you're doing a scholarly paper you can't make a research paper and put Wikipedia as your citations; but you can take the citations in a Wikipedia article and use them as your source; YOU KNEW THAT RIGHT?

Which is fine. But you didn't do that. You just quoted large parts of wiki, and if you look at the citations they were all bogus.

You do realize that people put irrelevant citations into wiki?
