this fool knows that drawings (taswir) of life-forms is considered as strictly prohibited in islam. he purposely tries to manipulate the minds of the naive so they may think according to his devil-inspired logic which
he uses to spread lies about Allah(swt's) religion.

when he had nothing else to defend his fallacious devil-inspired logic which he uses to misrepresent Allah (swt)'s religion with, he turns to personal attacks and name-calling.

not only is he considered an apostate by mainstream islamic scholars as he claims to follows a logic completely alien to mainstream islam (that of the mu'tazilites), he had accused me, a muslim, of kufr something for which rasulullah (saw) said he instead became kaffir. i would like to congratulate him on that first and foremost.

secondly, the truth is that all of the major scholars of fiqh are of the view that depicting life forms with drawings and pictures is strictly prohibited in islam. this includes the hanafi, shaafi, and hanbali madhabs with only the maliki madhab differing slightly in that imam malik (ra) only considered life-forms depicted as statues and other 3-d forms as haram. imam malik (ra), too, however had two opinions regarding taswir and the other was similar to the rest of the scholars.

otherwise, a general islamic prohibition of taswir (drawing pictures of life-forms) still holds. the only exception exists in circumstances which are out-of-the ordinary such as those due to necessity (i.e. money, education), and there is a difference of opinion concerning those involving children in some cases.

    take-home lesson:

there is a consensus amongst the scholars of fiqh (hanbal, hanafi, shafi'i, mailiki) that picture-making and drawings depicting humans and animals is explicitly HARAM.

Sayyiduna Jabir (Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (Allah bless him & give him peace) forbade the keeping of pictures at home and making them." (Sunan Tirmidhi, no: 1749)

Sayyiduna Abu Talha (Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (Allah bless him & give him peace) said: "Angels (of mercy) do not enter a house wherein there is a dog or a picture." (Sahih al-Bukhari, no: 5609)
^ these are just some hadith, but there exists many many more of this nature.

i would strongly advise readers of this forum to do their own research first before reading fallacious posts and arguments created by those claiming to follow a mu'tazilite doctrine.

we as muslims are obligated to defend the authentic teachings of our prophet (Saw) and not let these corrupt frauds manipulate them, and water them down.

people such as this exist nowadays. muslims today believe that sharab, ribaa, murder, torture and so on are also islamic.

these people are not simply misguided followers, they have an agenda. and that agenda is to distort Allah (swt)"s religion and the original teachings of His prophet (saw), trying to mislead the naive who would otherwise know no better. i will leave Allah (swt) to deal with them in the hereafter.

the hadith he has given has no numerical reference, something i see as dodgy behavior.

why is he afraid of giving a numerical reference so we may look the hadith up ourselves and learn its interpretation?

The individuals who follows the Manhaj of suicide bombers, rapists and mass murderers and claim that such acts are merely "negligible" follies and not evil horrendous acts of oppression, and does not regard such things as crimes is charging others as having an agenda to distort Allah(swt)'s religion and the original teachings of His Prophet (saw)

It's not astonishing however that the rebuttal attempts to use scare tactics, False Appeals to Emotions and Logical Fallacies to support itself. Wha's paradoxically absurd here is that while they're scared of people being "naive" to Mu'taziliyeen who simply advocate people to use their own faculty of reason when understanding the world around them and Islam; they want people to believe they're more enlightened for "blindly following" something without question and depth and being intellectually lazy is better than having to actually think deeply about things to understand them. Strange eh? How desperate their pleas of trying to pose as a victim; when they provide no evidence of being labeled a kafir, while they're labeling others apostates, also without evidence. The irony is their posts are littered with derisive remarks, accusing others of being christians, inclined for christianity, or involved in other sinful behavior. All the while having personal lives which reflect more akin to such traits than anyone elses. I won't mention them here however.

Firstly let's discuss the Mu'tazilah Doctrine. Mu'tazilah is merely a practice of applying Logic and Rationality as methods of problem solving and determining the reality of things. It does not reject revelation but addresses the rational significance of different circumstances, rules , methods and practices demonstrated by Nabi(saw) and described by the Qur'an Al-Majid so that we can arrive at more accurate and relevant conclusions on how and when to apply them. This is exactly what the Sahaba (ra). It is also to give understanding on how to arrive and determine whether something is true or factual by established sets of variables and constants. In Islaam we acknowledge that Allah(swt) created Nature and Nature encompasses all things; nature operates by certain rules/ordinates by Allah (swt)'s will; this includes the human brain, the human brain has the faculty to be able to address and perceive the mechanisms of how things operate and determining the veracity of somethingl; this is called logic. In short this faculty of Logic and Rationality is Allah 3azza wa Jal's tools for human beings to use. To deny this is denying Allaah(swt)'s revelation, as Allaah(swt) uses nature as a revelation of his Will, this is verified in the Qur'an because the Qur'an advises people to "think and reflect" and ponder over the existence of aspects of Nature, in other words use logic and therefore Logic is apart of Islam.

The Mu'tazilah Method is the most complete and balanced method and is the True Islamic Method passed down from Nabi(saw). It would be an act of deviance to claim that Logic and Reason are deviations of Islam.

Now to address the Islamic Literature regarding the permissibility of Taswir, pictures.

Each ahadith must be addressed in context as they were said at different times. This situation demonstrates a perfect example.

        In this Hadith in Sahih Muslim it states the following;
        Aisha reported:
We had a curtain with us which had portraits of birds upon it. Whenever a visitor came, he found them in front of him. Thereupon Allah's Messenger said to me: Change them, for whenever I enter the room) I see them and it brings to my mind (the pleasures) of worldly life. She said: We had with us a sheet which had silk badges upon it and we used to wear it. This hadith has been transmitted on the authority of Ibn Muthanna but with this addition: 'Allah's Messenger did not command us to tear that."
        —Sahih Muslim, 24:5255
        Now contrasted with this Hadith

        Aisha reported:
Allah's Messenger visited me. and I had a shelf with a thin cloth curtain hanging over it and on which there were portraits. No sooner did he see it than he tore it and the colour of his face underwent a change and he said: A'isha, the most grievous torment from the Hand of Allah on the Day of Resurrection would be for those who imitate (Allah) in the act of His creation. A'isha said: We tore it into pieces and made a cushion or two cushions out of that.
        —Sahih Muslim, 24:5261
Confused? Are these ahadith in contradiction? Would this mean that the Nabi (saw) is indulging in sinful behavior by keeping pictured objects in his home in the first hadith, as Kharijis are trying to imply? Of course not. Everything must be understood in context and their logical provision. In the first ahadith it shows a dislike but acceptance of pictures, but the dislike had a contextual variable. That it reminded him of the Dunya, it was considered an act of luxury and indulgence to have ornamental things. However it was not the picture itself which he was disparaging but the possession of things of the dunya. If it was the picture itself then he would be contradicting the Qur'an which advocates the creation of different things as evidences of Allah (swt)'s majesty, which has nothing to do with the "Dunya". Even the "Dunya" is a concept which relates to the shallow societies of humanity, not the embodiment of Allah(swt)'s power in nature.

The Second hadith deals with the fact that the picture makers were trying to imitate Allah(swt)'s power and intrude his sovereignty. Now logically can anyone make living things animal creatures by their own power? Even the most astute Genetic Engineer has to rely on naturally existing materials to form a new Bacterium, where as Allah(swt)'s Qudrah makes all materials exist in the first place. The hadith deals with people who believed that they had divine power on account of making a sculpture or painting and thus became partners with Allah(swt).

Here's the evidence that this is the case.
        http://web.youngmuslims.ca/online_li.../ch2s3p3-6.htm

One of the great Hanafi jurists, al-Tahawi, says, "In the beginning the Prophet (peace be on him) prohibited all types of figures, even if they were two dimensional, since the Muslims had only recently converted from the worship of images. Accordingly, everything of this type was prohibited. Later he lifted the prohibition from cloth with prints because of the necessity of wearing clothes. He also permitted figures which were not treated in a respectful manner, (As is evident from these ahadith, this would include figures which are made into pillows or cushions on which to sit or recline, figures in rugs or carpets which are trod upon and the like. (Trans.)) since there was no danger that the ignorant would venerate what was debased. The prohibition of figures which are not debased was never lifted." (This has been reported by Sheikh Bakhit in AI-Jawab al-Shafi.)
It was due to veneration of the maker of the images and the images themselves that they were originally prohibited; but later was laxed. In other words due to shirk of whatever form. Then later when shirk was no longer a concern, it was laxed.

The ignorant and those who have no depth of understanding because they refuse to use their Aql and understand Islaam in it's logical format will try to post ahadith and use rhetoric like "explicitly" to make it seem like they have given solid and irrefutable proof on the matter, but they are errorneous because they lack the details which are supplemental to the situations surrounding the ahadith, which is EQUALLY as important. It's not enough to show a Hadith, ALL relevant hadith must be addressed in proper context. If we didn't understand Islamic literature in context; then numerous contradictions would arise which are not actually there. This is the misguidance and delusion of Literalism. They fail to see the deeper basis of a matter.

The equation of making sharab halal and pictures halal is absurd and a logically false relation. For in Islaam it's Laws are based on how it helps us work in harmony with Nature. In Surah Al-Rum verse 30 it says "Faqim wajhaka lil deen hanifan allati fitrata Allahi fatara al-nas" (turn your face to the upright religion such that Allah had created the nature of humanity). Clearly sharab violates the natural faculties of human beings so therefore could never be permitted unless in extreme cases. It's this shallow comprehension of not understanding what is valid and it's relationship of application which creates these blunders. This lack of context, detailed and nuanced comprehension of Islaam, is why these errorneous equations are postulated. It is this lack of understanding which creates deviation and corruption of Islaam, because the factual detals and foundations are never correctly addressed.

In summary; Islaam is a logical religion which is fair and just to humanity for it is meant to provide humanity with what is best for it. Such attempts at discouraging logic are attempts at discouraging Islam and such individuals who do so know nothing of what Islaam instructs and requires.
