    Thanks anyways.

what word do you use for court or adaalat ?
"adaalat" is "justice." This is a Arabic word.

"Mukhkoma" is "court," but I think this is a farsi word. I don't think there is a pure Pashto word for court because Pashtuns resolve disputes in "marakay"

Thats your personal opinion. Try asking a Pashto linguist or even better, read a dictionary.

I was hoping everyone else would join in and keep the thread going. I don't know much about these words but as I think about it most of the terms I would suggest are actually also used in urdu, so now I am also wondering what the proper pashto terms would be.
              Without = Baghair (urdu)
Difference= fark (urdu) [the term "badal" could be used for "different" in pashto though]
              kind/type = rakam
color = rang (also used in urdu and farsi)
only = khali (in farsi they use "tanha" and in urdu "sirf", which we hear both of quite often in pashto)
I'm sure there are plenty of other words that I would use in place of these in a normal conversation but these are the ones that first come to mind.
i was thinkin gof telling Jankhan that this thread isnt "what is th emeaning of these words"

but than your reply to him made it back on the track.

              lets see
Without = Baghair (dari) Pratha- پرته (pashto)

Difference= fark (urdu) Tawpeer - توپیر [the term "badal" could be used for "different" in pashto though]

kind/type = rakam (dari) Dawol - ډول (Pashto)

color = rang (also used in urdu and farsi)

only = khali - Tash - تش (pashto) (in farsi they use "tanha" and in urdu "sirf", which we hear both of quite often in pashto)

Which dictionary? The majority of Pashto/English dictionaries have too many errors.

Lidal = Katal = to see ie mo Karzai wa lidalo, this means I saw Karzai not I met karzai

Gumaral = to appoint ie Karzi shoghalai raz mohammad de obo ow brekhnah de wazarat po mo qom wo gomaralo.

I see too many errors in this thread, I know why now, most of you are using dictionaries that were written by imbeciles.

Why dont you write your own dictionary?

Lidana means meeting. It is derived from the word lidal. Gumarana means appointment which is derived from the word gumaral.

Depending on the context and the sentence form one can choose which is more appropriate to use.

If dont have anything useful to say, leave this thread.

We can discuss this respectfully, no need to get heated.

                        Word: Abi (Blue)

                        Pashto Term: ?

                        Language: Farsi
                        Pashto Term: ?

                        Word: Gulabi (pink)
                        Language: Urdu
                        Pashto Term: ?

                        Word: Narangi (orange)
                        Language: Urdu
                        Pashto Term: ?

                        Word: Ferozi (turquoise)
                        Language: Urdu
                        Pashto Term: ?

or do these just overlap in Pashto?

                          Why are you getting angry?

"lidana" is the noun form of "lidal," just like the "seeing" is the noun of "see."

Appointment has many meaning in English:
                          1
a : an act of appointing : designation
b : the designation by virtue of a vested power of a person to enjoy an estate
                          2
: an arrangement for a meeting : engagement <an appointment for an interview>

                          3
: equipment, furnishings —usually used in plural <expensive homes with luxurious appointments>

Gumarana means the first one on the list not the second or third one. This is where English/Pashto dictionaries err. Because the authors don't know what the word actually means, they assume it means the second one.

Most Pashtun use the word "Mulaqat" for "meeting" which is Arabic or Farsi. But one can also use "lidal" >to see or "kenasthana" >to sit or even "gorana" > to see. But these words don't mean "to meet" in the literal sense,. It can be meant that way.

From what I know they overlap. For yellow, Pashtuns say zyair and farsiwans use zard.

zyar is not a Farsi word. Lots of words that have been mentioned as originating from Urdu are Farsi and dagarwal's pronunciation of Pashtu and Farsi words are pathetic.
You sound like a punjabi trying to speak Dari or Pashtu.
It's not rakam, it's raqam. It's not farak, it's farq. Farq is not even the proper translation to tawpeer in Dari.
